Let’s celebrate Rhii’s second 80

Let’s celebrate Almaster, because he’s there, he’s a Pally and he’s tagged me too

Let’s celebrate Mages across Azeroth that have put down their fireballs, arcane blasts and deepfreeze for a little healing love.

I have been tagged by Rhii, Saresa and Almaster, two of whom like me, are DPS gone to the light side. I had seen this meme floating around, but haven’t had the chance to peruse it in any of posts properly.

Rhii gives a breakdown on where it has all come from:

I decided to steal the most excellent Miss Medicina’s non-meme questionnaire. Which I also read about on Tamarind, Oriniwen, and Kyrilean’s blogs. Since I’ve been a healer for such a short time, nobody’s likely to tag me so I tag me! Besides, it’s not a meme, I don’t need to be tagged to play. YAY! So here goes.

What is the name, class, and spec of your primary healer?

Gnomeaggedon, Gnome Frostfire Mage.

Hang on, this is about me…

Squidly, level 76 Resto Shaman

Pffft you aren’t even 80… Let’s stick with the real Gnome behind this blog!

Oi, I’m the only healer (Unless Mr. Tree or Mr. Z! speak up).

Well, let me prove you wrong!

What is your primary group healing environment? (i.e. raids, pvp, 5 mans)

Gnomeaggedon:
5 mans, raids, PvP, I do it all. Emphasis was on 10 man raids, but you will see me in the other locations more often these days.

Squidly:
50/50 5 mans and PvP. Wherever someone is taking damage, you will find the Squid!

What is your favorite healing spell for your class and why?

Gnomeaggedon:
Mmm that’s a hard one…
Circle of anti-healing (Flamestrike and Blizzard) or my HoT, Living Bomb.

Squidly:

Hey they aren’t healing spells you silly Gnome!

Of course they are, think of me as a Disc Priest. I don’t cure so well, but I certainly reduce the amount of incoming damage. A dead Mob does no damage!

Pffft, OK then. My favorite healing spell has to be chain lightning. Especially when I crack the 4 targets. It’s a beautiful geometry best viewed from above.

That said Earth Shield and Riptide mean I can go on extended AFKs, which is great because there is plenty of time for that with the right tank and intelligent DPS.

What healing spell do you use least for your class and why?

Gnomeaggedon:
A Lock’s health stone. Apart from the fact that they are created by Locks, they interfere with the beauty of my Mana Gems.

Ohh bandages, tend to get forgotten as well unless the tank is in trouble and the healer down.

Squidly: least favorite? I use them all, I love them all.

What do you feel is the biggest strength of your healing class and why?

Gnomeaggedon:
Damage reduction through superior firepower!

Squidly:

Earth Shield is nuts, protect and heal at the same time!

Riptide, HoT em up, then cast a real heal over the top for better healing results.

Chain Heal… Why heal one when you can heal them all.

Ancestral Healing, buy one heal, get one free… Love it, especially as I am often the recipient, less worry about me.

In a 25 man raiding environment, what do you feel, in general, is the best healing assignment for you?

Gnomeaggedon:
Trash healing. Tank rounds them up and I burn them down before they hurt anyone else.

Squidly: mmm that’s level 80 stuff isn’t it?

I guess I have plenty of 10-40 man experience in BGs.

The best healing assignment for me in BGs is the following.

People that protect me (especially if still attempting to complete BG goals)

People attempting to complete BG goals (flag carriers etc)

People that are hurting but will live long enough to collect my heal

Basically wherever there is a need for healing, I will be there.

So basically “raid” healing

What healing class do you enjoy healing with most and why?

Gnomeaggedon:

Mage, the best defensive healing is an offensive fireball!

Ohh you me by my side…

I love the constant trickle of Druid Hots.. it’s like warm honey dripping down my back. Pallies are good too, I love me a bubble!

Squidly:

Ummm I like me, I am shaman. I tried pretending to be a Druid, but I only have one HoT. I tried being a Paladin, but I couldn’t wear plate. I haven’t tried Priests…. I have bad childhood memories involving priests and they don’t include healing.

Who else do I like healing with… Druids are good. If they look after the Hots, I will drop some bombs in there to fix the big damage.

What healing class do you enjoy healing with least and why?

Gnomeaggedon:

The one that ignores me… I am squishy… I will protect you, just HEALZ PLZ!

Squidly:

The only class of healer I don’t like healing with is the class of healer that forgets they can heal and DPS instead… Hello BGs.

I think many players enter BGs thinking that it’s just all about killing or being killed. The smart one realise the more they prevent the “be killed” part of the equation, the more the “kill” bit can be fulfilled.

Seriously if you got em, flaunt them. Wve them in the face of the Horde

I got heals! Narny Narny Nah Nah! We got heals and you don’t!

What is your worst habit as a healer?

Gnomeaggedon:

Forgetting my heals don’t actually heal… If that mob gets to me, well it’s probably too late.

Squidly:

Hah! there, see you don’t heal!

Mine is EarthShield/Riptide sleep healing.

80% of the instance will be sleep healing, then I get a rude shock. Which leads to my other worst habit… forgetting I can get off an instant heal. When the healing detail goes from nothing to everything, I struggle to remember where my other heals are, let alone use Natures Swiftness

What is your biggest pet peeve in a group environment while healing?

Gnomeaggedon:

Healers that don’t appreciate I want to stand in the BAD!

Squidly:

Mages that want to stand in the BAD!

Actually I don’t mind people standing in the BAD. It gives me something to do and if they die I don’t feel guilty.

So really there are two other peeves that get to me..

Tanks that aren’t tanks… either they are spec’d geared for DPS yet insist on tanking, or they are DPS that don’t understand that we brought someone along specifically to take the hits… and they get 90% of my heals, not the “off tanking dps”.

Mages… I already mentioned them.. but having a generous Mage buddy, it annoys the Water Balls off me that Mages wont give me sustenance.

Do you feel that your class/spec is well balanced with other healers for PvE healing?

Gnomeaggedon:

It will be once Blizzard wakes up, smells the roses and gives me my healing tree!

Squidly:

I think so. Shamans do pretty well. I often see LF1M requests specifically targeting Shaman. Ultimately if we are a little behind on the actual heals, we make up for it with our sexy totems.

What tools do you use to evaluate your own performance as a healer?

Gnomeaggedon:

Recount… the higher my damage and DPS, the less healing everyone required.

Squidly:

Not being in the competitive healing world of raiding yet, I use a scale silimar to Rhii’s.

I’m alive – good healing

Tank alive – better healing

DPS alive – lucky bastards

Everyone alive – Earth Shield/Riptide/Chain Heal FTW!

If I have mana left over I consider that a bonus too.. means we can keep on healing on.

What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about your healing class?

Gnomeaggedon:

That I don’ contribute to the healing effort… yeah they post their healing meters, pat themselves on the back blah blah blah.

But let’s look at the important numbers… Healing received… I am at the bottom!

Damage done… see above!

Squidly:

That I care!

They think that as a healer I care about whether they live or die. I do to some extent, but hey as long as I don’t die, we have won.

Probably my biggest annoyance is that they all spread out too much… Chain Heal will only jump so far.. it wont jump to/from you on the other side of the room, so a heal on you is wasted… see above.

What do you feel is the most difficult thing for new healers of your class to learn?

Gnomeaggedon:

Mages are more important than anyone including the tank… I give you food and water, you give me exclusive heals… OK?

Squidly:

Staying awake.

Coming from a balls to the wall DPS background, the lulls in healing action can be quite mind numbing. I actually had a tank apologize to me last night for making my life so boring, so I encouraged him and the rest of the party to be a little stupid just so I had something to do… I was healing (occasionally), DPSing and I still had 100% mana… /yawn

If someone were to try to evaluate your performance as a healer via recount, what sort of patterns would they see (i.e. lots of overhealing, low healing output, etc)?

Gnomeaggedon:

Lots of overheal (incoming), not much healing out going. So I suggest they review incoming damage to the healer… there is none? Ohh that’s cause I took the bullet for them!

Squidly:

Really low activity rates… I would probably be inactive 60% of a fight… although I guess Riptide dots would hide that.

Lots of Overheal. Earthshield and Riptide will be ticking whether damage is happening or not (well, Earthshield will get activated by damage, but it might already be healed by Riptide). Chain Heal overheals… that spell was designed to rate high in the Overheal meters.

In a raid wide damage encounter (including BGs) you can expect to see us Shaman high on the heal charts, Chain heal just heals.. it sniffs out damage and repairs it.

Haste or Crit and why?

Gnomeaggedon:

Crit, Crit, Crit… Bring on the grand daddy of Mage healing spells… Instant Pyroblast!

Squidly:

Gotta have crit… not too much, just enough.

After that, well everyone likes to get that heal of 0.1 second before thier target dies.

What healing class do you feel you understand least?

Gnomeaggedon:

Mages.. I keep looking for that healing tree… it’s not even in the utility Arcane tree…

Squidly:

Probably Shaman. I know that sounds silly, but I know enough about receiving heals from everyone else.. I just need to know more about delivering mine.

What add-ons or macros do you use, if any, to aid you in healing?

Gnomeaggedon:

Addons: I have those Heads-up proc addons that tell you when something popped, died etc… too many of them too mention, all installed at once… don’t want to miss an instant Pyro!

Macros.. lots of target of target macros. If the healer is getting hit, I just want to know who is doing it, then we can go outside and sort it all out Mobo-a-Gnomo.

Squidly

Healbot does all my work

I also use target of target macros, but generally I am just clicking on Healbot like I am filling in an online job application. I play a little:

Enny Meanie, Minee Mo. Your standing in the Bad, and I’m going to let you go.

I just wish there was an addon that could do that automatically… like a slot machine I guess.

Do you strive primarily for balance between your healing stats, or do you stack some much higher than others, and why?

Gnomeaggedon:

My priority stat goes like this:

+damage > +damage > +damage = dead mob… Not much to it really.

Squidly:

Balance is nice.. currently working on mp5 & spelldamage, crit and haste are OK, but I figure I need the bases covered 1st.

A hasted or critting crap heal is still going to be a crap heal.

OOM = OOHeals.

To be honest I can’t wait to hit 80, just so I can do a little more of this, and little more of that.

Catch!

I know there are quite a few DPS out there that dabble in heals.. so rather than out you, I will let you come forward and join in the big healy hugathon. Let me know if you do!

Gnome and Out, Squidly and Stout!

I want my 3rd Battleground queue back!

Two is OK, it’s certainly better than one. But with the current BG wait times, I need a 3rd option.

Admittedly I am not normally a BG jumper and I dare say being limited to two queues which you may need to wait for an hour for one to pop might well encourage people to stick to a BG.

However inevitably I wait for an hour one to pop, only to have the other pop 30 seconds later. Maybe, just maybe, a 3rd queue would have filled my time.

Stealth BG Invites

While I am at it, I know 40 second response times are meant to speed up the BG process, but I could really use a little more time.

I’m human… I need food, drinks, bios, smokes. Sometimes I need to respond to requests from the real world.

At least once I have turned from my silent PC (sound off to protect the sleeping, or headphones off for due conversational respect) and the BG has popped and faded away while I have been distracted for 40 seconds.

Worse is I had no idea, the BG icon was still on the mini map, so I didn’t bother to mouse over to find out that I am now down to one long queue.

So please Blizzard, give me back my queue and give a Gnome a bio break!

LFAnyG

PS: a thought on the LFG interface. Rather than a 3 option drop down list, give us the whole instance list as a check list. Let me indicate my desire to run every instance that interests me, rather than choosing 3 and having random tells asking if I want to do something completely different.

Of course, my favorite bugbear (apart from engineering mounts for Gnomes), add the holiday instances into the LFG interface… Please… Now!

Gnomer and Out, Squidly and Stout!

The Baron unseated from his mount and Arthas’ shame cleansed – check

The world was saved… Or was it?

Gnomeaggedon rested at the Argent Dawn campsite.

The gryphon ride from Lights Hope Chapel hadn’t filled him with the usual joy at taking wing. So he dismounted before reaching Ironforge, he needed some time to gather his thoughts.

Resting

He probably should have ported to Ironforge, but whether it was his unexpected nap in Dalaran or whether he was still high on the arcane energies that he set loose at his foes, he was tired, even a little dizzy.

Luckily a Gnome doesn’t have far to fall, so his collapse was as gentle as tucking a child into bed.

He dozed. He never fully reached a deep sleep. It wasn’t so much his battle wariness, more the taint that filled his nostrils from the nearby plaguelands.

The place he rested was pleasant enough. Surrounded by some saplings, a bird croaked from the trees.

It was the rustling of the leaves that caused him to return to awareness. There was more movement in those branches than the still air could generate.

A bird in a tree

The creaking of their limbs…
The flutter of feathers…
The voice…

So Gnome, what brings you from Northrend?

He opened his eyes and looked around, then up, and up.

Moonkin, not a bird then. The trees not your common garden variety trees. Still, Gnomeaggedon was puzzled. Moonkin all look the same and generally they don’t talk, they tend to roar as they approach.

You don’t recognize me, do you?

Spirals of green natural energy surround the Moonkin, clearing to reveal a familiar Elven figure.

Mr. Tree! No I didn’t recognize you without your bark!

What brings you to the plaguelands? Have you joined with Naralex to restore the earth?

No, I am head hunting, I am purely mercanery right now. I have been trying to break into the nearby keep of Scholomance but neither Moofire nor roots will break down the door.

Scholomance. No, you will need more than nature to beak down the doors of that old school of arcane arts. You will need a key, but that will take you some time, energy, trekking and more importantly for a mercenary, gold, to craft.

You are in luck though. I spent some time there a while back searching for knowledge. Scholomance holds many tomes of value and I managed to procure a key to grant me access.

Gnomeaggedon was going to rest. He knew though, there is no rest for the wicked, so either he was a very naughty Gnome, or the wicked of Scholomance needed some rest.

This time would be different

That last time he went seeking knowledge, he had struggled as the casters of Scholomance had struggled before him. Creatures immune to the arcane arts make him a sad and sorry Gnome.

This time he had two advantages. One was the presence of his fine feathered friend. He might wield nature in the form of spells, but he was also skilled enough to use those natural energies to transform to bear form.

The other was the backpack full of holy water. Maybe it was worth wandering the streets of Stratholme aimlessly. Luckily he remembered the wise words of his sagely Mage friend Tuna, and didn’t throw the religious rubbish out.

None may pass this point that are too short

Gnome reached the keep ahead of the Druid and rushed on in. A short while later he heard the Druid banging on the door.

Open the door you short arsed, green haired, dunnybrush faced Gnome!

Gnomeaggedon ran back to the door and leapt at the secret torch socket door opener. He leapt again and again. Stupid humans, they obviously never wanted the Gnomes to leave.

Hooking his staff around the torch, he dangled with his full weight until the torch finally rotated and Mr. Tree was silhouetted in the doorway.

While Gnome struggled to remove his staff from the bracket, Mr. Tree rushed ahead tickling the guards with some moonfire spam.

It’s all fun and games until the Gnome gets hurt

What followed was a frenzy of natural and arcane death. Room after room was filled with our destructive powers, wall to wall, floor to ceiling, before the mobs noticed our presence.

Gnomeaggedon had to laugh at one point while he watched Mr. Tree shed a tear for his lost friend.

Errrr mmm hmmm, I’m over here, that twisted Gnome looks nothing like me. Here let me show you…

Arcane Resistant mobs, meet the CLAW & flask

They soon encountered the arcane resistant mobs, but between the bear caving their skulls in with it’s massive paws and the fragile holy water vials exploding at their feet, they soon formed a ring of loot.

Maybe there was something to that religious rubbish… Those Skeletons certainly burned when bathed in holywater.

Gnomeaggedon didn’t notice the leaders until they were dead. The duo felt no need to carefully clear a path to each leader, they just rushed through them and destroyed everything in each room.

Reclaimed

Scholomance was soon reclaimed. Maybe if the Gnomes don’t take back Gnomeragan, they could move in here. A coat of paint and a straightening of the book shelves and this place would scrub up ok.

The Druid wasn’t finished, but the Gnome needed to rest. His work wasn’t complete though, so he didn’t head straight off.

Gnome stood guard by the front door and played the door bitch role. The only person allowed in or out was the Druid.

The time at Scholomance made Gnomeaggedon crave the presence of other intelligent life forms, so he headed off to Dalaran.

But Dalaran was no more…

Still his thoughts were scattered. He knew now where Dalaran was and with a few mumbled words he was back in new Dalaran.

Oh the insanity of the city

The noise began again on arrival and as Gnomeaggedon tried to reduce the spam he noticed something. A band of adventurers were looking for help in cleansing Stratholme.

Gnomeaggedon tells them they have nothing to fear. After all he has just returned from the ruins leaving little intact.

What!

They are going back in time to assist Arthas to repeat his shame? All his good work gone to waste.

This presented a dilemma. While he didn’t want Arthas and his Scourge storming Azeroth, it had been proposed by one of his Arcane Scholar friends that there was reason to the madness that the dragonflight would assist Arthas to lead the Scourge.

Was he the lesser of two evils?

Whatever the case, Gnomeaggedon decided that no harm could come of cleansing Stratholme at the moment of it’s infection, at the moment of Arthas’ shame.

Thankfully he was spared from spreading the plague. The other adventurers had already carried out Chromie’s instruction and begun the downfall of The city.

Still, Gnomeaggedon resolved to take the portal through time again at some point to visit the vibrant city before the plague spread. He wondered whether others had done this too, or whether it was another of his strange fancies.

The adventurers pushed hard through the city clearing the pockets of scourge as they appeared and putting the poor plagued civilians out of their misery.

For all that these scourge are at their peak in strength, not weakened by time as the ones he encountered just the other day, progress was faster, the deaths quicker.

A Chrono Lord… So Chromie isn’t the only one playing with the time warp continuum. The Chrono Lord is no challenge and even his bronze proto drake companion is discarded.

There is little challenge or reward in Stratholme for these heroes, beyond the faint hope of altering the course of history and hopefully the world as it is now known.

He knows that destroying the last leader hasn’t saved Stratholme. He knows he has been a catalyst in the downfall of Arthas, the creation of Arthas the Lich King.

Still, there is something reassuring about Chromie hovering over the final battle scene like an angel. Knowing that his actions are guided. Hoping his future isn’t set in stone. Hoping that Chromie and his cronies aren’t manipulating him in the same way that they do with Arthas.

At ease Soldier

The noise, the hustle, the bustle of Dalaran is somehow reassuring after the tragic emptiness of Stratholme. Gnomeaggedon aches for the crush of the crowd… Maybe not for the crush of the Tauren at the mailbox, or the drake rider that thinks it’s humorous to crush the body of the flight master.

Gnomeaggedon begins to feel the rage building within him. It is a side effect of living a life of fire. No different to a volcano, the body can only hold the eruption for so long. When your body is half the size of the rest of the Azeroth inhabitants, the eruptions tend to be a bit more frequent.

You may laugh, but…

People laugh at Gnomes. They deride them for being short, they pinch our cheeks, they pat us on our bald spots or pull on our pigtails.

What they don’t understand is the incredible will power we possess. We hold as much, if not more, arcane energies than those twice our size. When we explode, people notice, even if it’s the last thing they see.

Haven’t they ever heard of a short fuse?

Gnomes are the original short fuse!

Right now Gnomeaggedon was a short fuse in search of a bomb.

The bomb was found. Those frisky Horde were challenging in Wintergrasp again. It seems that barely an hour goes by without conflict there, but for once it seemed the perfect outlet for the Gnome.

He grabbed his tattered, horde-blood-spattered gear from the bank to replace his equally scourge-splattered raiding gear.

The Mages of Dalaran made his life easy, transporting him to the thick of the battle.

Kill, Crush, Destroy!

Bodies, skeletons, wrecks.

First he saw them, then he created them.

He held no concern for his own safety.

Shouting:

For Gnomeregan!

He faced off against the stomping Tauren Warriors, the perverted Orc Warlocks and the cousins of the Scourge… Would he ever see the end of the walking dead?

Destruction, obliteration, Demolition!

It was a Destruction Derby!

A horn blows in the distance and apart from isolated pockets of fighting the Horde were in retreat. Some poor souls found themselves behind our repaired walls being hunted like rats by the whooping Alliance.

Time to clear the Vault

The doors to the Vault stand open and Gnomeaggedon is asked to join a motley crew.

Motley… That describes their appearance and their success. The way they are equipped in comparison to Gnomeaggedon you would think that nothing could stand in their way.

Koralon, the latest tenant of the Vault is no competition for the unruly mob. Emalon on the other hand teaches this group of fools that there is more to a group victory than personal effort.

Kicked in the PuG

Ultimately Emalon has little to do with the defeat.

You could give credit to his pets, but truly the lack of victory can be laid squarely at the corpses of those that live with tunnel and boss vision.

As Gnomeaggedon slowly walked away, a slight limp in his stride from that last defeat, he thought of his own performance.

No great personal achievements, but there wouldn’t be while he worked with people that bought their way to the best gear. He was proud of the fact that he was changing targets, maybe it’s a Gnome thing, from his perspective he can see the whole world before him.

Gnome Fishing

Maybe he should go fishing, he’s heard Squidly is kicking back somewhere dangling his line.

He could grab his rod and join him.

He’d be spewing if the Headless Horseman returned

One thing is for sure. A few days in the Dalaran inn munching on cheese and quaffing wine would be good for his soul. He needed to refresh his soul.

He wasn’t sure what would be around the next corner, but the way things were coming back to life, he bets he will be seeing that headless horseman again sometime soon.

Gnomer and Out!

Continuing my series on why other classes need Mages, I look at two of the other pure DPS classes today.

Meters

Why bother reaching for the heights of Damage meter pwnage if you don’t have competition.

Mages provide that competition, big time. More often than not if you are looking at the top 3 positions in a damage meter they will be filled by Hunters, Rogues and Mages.

The question is, which of us will be No. 1?

Trading threat

Threat is bad…

Trading threat is good, especially between ranged toons. Playing a bit of mob ping pong is great fun.

Your threat too high, vanish, feign death or invisibility and let your team mate climb up there.

It’s not unusual for these 3 classes to be some of the last to die in a wipe as we have dropped to the bottom of the threat meter.

It wouldn’t be the first time that these three classes working together have managed to take a mob down, against all odds, without tank or heals support by trading threat.

No gear competition

Us Mages will let’s you Rogues and Hunters fight it out for the Leather.

It’s yours!

Of course we do request you keep your hands off our trinkets and rings

Battlegrounds

Rogues and Hunters need someone to beat!

Sure they will struggle against a well played Mage.

But and Horde Rogues and Hunters in my BG will be getting free kills off me.

Gnomer and Out!

OK, so this is GoogledGnome #69 (well 70 if we consider the one that I threw a completely different numbering system on), so I shouldn’t be amazed really… but hey, I am sweet and innocent, occasionally naive.

“huntard” +signs

You need sign posts… they are generally pretty obvious!

Even though I am an ex-hunter, from way back in Vanilla, I am a Mage come Shaman these days and it would be entirely inappropriate of me to spell out the ways that Hunters prove that they are Huntards…

I’ll leave that to the Hunter Bloggers.. let’s face it, they will be shamed more by the existence of Huntards.

can mages heal

Ummm Derr.. of course we can!

Gnomeagedon has several posts all about it, the most recent being when he participated in the Circle of Healing non-meme. He even got a category all to himself!

wow raiding drinking games

Now we’re talking…

Set that raid to hardmode… line up the shot glasses… One shot per wipe…

The bottle will be finished before the 2nd boss!

can resto shamans pvp?

NO!

How many times does Squidly have to tell you that Horde Resto Shaman can’t PvP!

We Alliance will eat you and your babies!

If you are an Alliance Resto Shaman, then yes you can PvP… I’m thinking of forming a 40 man Resto Shaman BG raid.

Imagine the Horde BG chat.

Kill the Healer!

Ummm which one?

No one will be afraid to use Chain Lightning, it just wont matter kill one and 39 more will fill their place!

will you get xp if you disconnect in wow

Permanently? No.

Temporarily? No… well maybe, if you are quick and get back online before your mates finish the job. Otherwise you get no experience as you had no experience apart from watching a loading screen.

dpsing as a mage without taking aggro

You want to DPS AND not take Aggro?

Let me just check my rule book…

Mmm as I suspected.. DPS = Aggro.

Simple answer is to do nothing… maybe wand a little. (How many Priests have I run with lately that do nothing but wand… all instance long?)

Otherwise…

Install a threat meter

Stay below the tank.. up to a maximum of 30% above the tank, if at range and if the mob doesn’t drop aggro

Use Invisibility.. early on short fights, later on long fights

Buy a new tank.. how the hell is a Mage pulling aggro off a tank in WoLK? Your tank is shite!

something somebody somewhere

Somebody, Somewhere searched for Something like this?

Bizzaro world!

im struggling in outland

I’m struggling in Australia… but what are you doing there anyway?

You should be able to get out of there in 2 zones, 3 tops.

Go to Northrend… roll around in the piles of XP left lying around in the snow

Never go back to Outland.

wow mage how to limit down time

Use Evocate, Use Gems

Don’t cast spells

Pee in a bottle

More importantly, don’t die!

Seriously, at low levels it can suck.. so suck up that conjured beveidge you got in your bag… later one, but a pet pally.

does a gnome have four fingers

Technically I would suggest 3, because one has to be an opposible digit commonly referd to as a thumb, and I am pretty sure my teachers frowned upon me calling my thumb a finger.

wow fail

Why do people constantly come here under the search term WoW Fail?

Has someone listed this blog as the place to read about fail? They are my stories…

Ohh.. that’s right, I wrote about the wowfailblog previously

squidly’s shaman pvp tips #1: resto ftw!

Not once, but twice today someone searched for this… the entire title of my post.

Which means:

Someone remembered the title, but not the blog

Someone found a pirated version of my post and was looking to find the original

Someone doesn’t know how to bookmark pages… but has a photographic memory for post titles.

Enough… too much…

Later…

Gnomer and Out, Squidly and Stout!

You’re Gnomeaggedon?

Yes I am!

After close enough to an hour of trying to get Squidly’s 1st Headless Horseman group together I managed to get a DK that could tank if need be and he had a couple of level 80 mates.

They were still en-route so I asked whether the group wanted me to get my Mage for an extra summon after this group was finished.

Everyone agreed it was a good idea, in fact nearly everyone else had extra toons they could grab too. So I said…

OK, brb, relogging on Gnomeaggedon

You’re Gnomeaggedon?

I had one of those blogger moments… Is this a reader… Is this a stalker… Who is this?

Yes I am!

As the logout timer counts down I see…

<– I’m Zain!

Ohhh, minor disappointment, he’s an old guildy, GM in fact, rather than a fanboy.

Do you know who you are pugging with?

Have you ever been running on an alt, completely oblivious to the fact that the people you are running with are (ex)guildies?

If you don’t know and aren’t told that noob you are playing with may be your uber raid leader, or the uber hunter may be the noob DK from your last fail PuG.

I sort of felt sorry for the 1st guy I pugged into the group. He had no relationship with the latest 3 recruits, whereas I had the whole of TBC. Sure I probably only ran with them once every month or so, but Make Love Not Warcraft was a friendly, chatty guild.

The party chat was full of text. News, friendly abuse, requests to rejoin the guild. I had a ball. HHM was nothing more than the catalyst for old friends to catch up.

It was interesting timing too. As you saw the other day I am now a core raider in Les Mags… A core raider that hasn’t raider since the 1st two weeks of 80… When was that, March, April?

More importantly they don’t even know who I am. Kinda strange since I recently posted on the guild forums.

Note to Guild “webmasters”.

Your guild website is the most sensational Warcraft themed site that ever graced the interwebs. However if you want to facilitate people visiting it during their spare, non-WoW time, make sure you offer a choice of site skins.

One of the objectives of a guild website is to facilitate out-of-WoW communications, but if people can’t access your website for fear of losing their job, they aren’t going to come.

The reason I haven’t been as active commenting here or reading and commenting elsewhere is I got busted at work on a WoW website.

This was a day after I requested a change of skin (or the option to change) on the guild website. I got told to just use print preview… The problem there is I have to browse the WoW themed forums before hitting print preview.

Sorry folks, but you just lost a contributor (worse, a reader) to the guild forums.

If I can’t use the guild website to stay up to date, register for raids etc, then I guess I might as well not be a part of the guild!

Anyway, this once chance encounter made up for the fact that there were no reins for either Squidly or Gnomeaggedon. In fact it reminded me of the MMO part of the game.

It felt good…

It was good…

Gnomer and Out, Squidly and Stout!
