FreeBSD is an advanced operating system for x86 compatible (including Pentium® and Athlon™), amd64 compatible (including Opteron™, Athlon™64, and EM64T), ARM, IA-64, PowerPC, PC-98 and UltraSPARC® architectures.

The RC download will be available till the end of July 2009 and Microsoft is not limiting the number of product keys this time around. The RC is free for use till June 1, 2010. But, starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you’ll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010.

The ‘technical preview‘ build is available for download without registrations or giving away your email address. However, it has not been mentioned whether this build is 64-bit or not.

On 5 January 2009, the 64-bit version of the Windows 7 Beta (build 7000) was leaked onto the web. 9 April 2009 sees the leak of Build 7077. As our friends over at Ars Technica point out, the x64 version out performs the 32-bit (x86) versions.

If anything, the number of downloads are a sign that the x64 version is quite popular among many. Keep in mind that this number is for the RC, and there are not many adventurers out there to try beta versions. The Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that Office 2010 will be available in both flavors: “Yes, Office will have two separate 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Office 2010 will be the first to do this.”

Come 2010, and 64-bit Operating Systems such as Windows Vista, and Windows XP Professional x64 Edition need not emulate a 32-bit environment since they can instead install the 64-bit version of Office 2010, thus significantly boosting the performance of the application.
