There is a all new meaning of the word "Customer", it's "Cust" + "mar".
Means one who buys anything always take all "Cust" [means "Pain"] instead of seller and always "mar" [means "Die"].
IFFCO-TOKIO (india) follows the suit here.

I wanted to ask some query about their vehicle insurance so got to know a number from their website, which is 1800 103 5499. But when i dialed it said "THIS NUMBER DOES NOT EXIST!"

Funny - 'coz the number they are putting on the site is not existing.
Not so funny - 'coz if i'd have own a policy and if i need them in emergancy, this is the last thing i'd like to here!!

Some facts, I've come to know about reliance.

- WHEN YOU GIVE 500/- rs. TO RIL GUY, IF YOU DON'T GET YOU CONNECTION, DUE TO ANY PROBLEM [your/their side], FORGET ABOUT YOUR MONEY. AS THERE IS NOWAY YOU CAN CLAIM IT !! EVEN IF YOU CLAIM IT, THEY DONT GIVE IT :) [I've been the victim of this fraud]

- They Promise to give a connection in 3 working days, BUT It's not always that you will receive a connection in 2-3 days, always. I had to wait 25 days for a connection to my office.

- You must Login in/out to reliance portal to access the broadband service, and it is very annoying, and once you get authentication error, you are helpless.

- Always depend on online bills, they stop sending bill after 3-4 months [my case]

- No Doubt about steady and good speed all the time, BUT IT ALSO SUFFERS DISCONNECTION for 1-2 day every second week. BUT AGAIN, CUSTOMER CARE IS HELPFUL THERE.

- WHEN YOU CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT, THEY BILL FOR MODEM IN LAST SETTLEMENT BILL !! And you need to lodge a request to ask them to collect modem, to get the charge waived !!! Very bad trick.

Opera has been my favourite since last 1 year (sorry FireFox 2 !! I don't miss you much !!) and the bonding strengthens when last night I discovered the all new Opera 9.50

Let me tell you my encounters with difference browsers.

I started using IE, it was not love at first sight, well i was a kid then !!! any ways thanks bill uncle for giving us all buggy IE to cope up with all popup (I some time hit a porno web site and with in seconds my Win95 got a restart, just like that.)

When I matured, my taste for browser also matured and i found MyIE2, now called Maxthon. it's been a long affair with that great piece of software, it saved me lot of time, and got me some credit also when I presented my MD of the company to the all new TABBED Browsing !! It was fun !!

Then I saw faster and All new firefox, well it was irresistible and must try. eventually we have been together since firefox 2.x; I left it because I was fed up with slowness and memory it required, I had to kill it after every 30-45 min of browsing. It was painful.

Then came the almighty opera, it was not so smooth ride at first, but it happens to be like that with new gal/bike/browser I suppose !! since then it's been a great joyride with opera.

Firefox 3 created a much hype and blogs and tech pundits are going ga ga over it. But in my opinion opera is the ultimate choice for the best browsing experience.

One has to see it to believe it. Give it a try, you wont be disappointed !!

In India, People are happy to see Mobile service provider fighting to get a pie from a large user base by providing new offers every now and then.

Recent addition is call rate tariff cut in Long distance call (STD) to make then Cheapest among other or to just give "Unlimited STD" at not so nominal price. this is how it goes,

"Airtel cuts STD rates, sets off price war"

Airtel started this by announcing that it will slash the STD call rates by around 43 % to Rs 1.50 per minute from Rs 2.65 per minute and the roaming charges by 43 % to Re 1 per minute from Rs 1. 75 per minute across all tariff plans with effect from April 30 this year.

"Idea Too joins to race..!!"

Idea Cellular Ltd, a major cellular services operator, joins the race by launching a new tariff regime that seeks to cut rental by 23 per cent to Rs 269 a month for post-paid users and also removes different rates for calls to cell, WLL (wireless in local loop) and land line. This new tariff, to be introduced from May 11

Which allows unlimited local and STD calls between Reliance to Reliance mobiles. To avail this scheme, Prepaid customers will have to pay Rs. 496/validity and Postpaid customers will have to pay Rs. 440/month.

Got that !! stupid, 500/- rupees, to avail the unlimited calling. it's not free !! Very Smart..

Yahoo Glue Vs Google. Yahoo Edges Google Out..

I just wrote about BSNL site hacking.

To see the buzz about that news on Internet, I tried searching it on two major search engine, namely Google and yahoo.

There what I see is really shocking, I said shocking because, I saw yahoo showing me some thing that's really unusual and I can clearly see Google far behind yahoo in search results.

1) Search "gujarat bsnl" on Google.

Here I see that, Google shows normal search result that I used to see always, no fancy thing about that.

2) Search "gujarat bsnl" on Yahoo (India).

Now see the difference, yahoo is showing same site but with different Title.

it's the same title that was used by hackers.

now I got some questions.

1) does this mean that yahoo has got more recent results for my search query then Google !!

2) Is this an extra care taken by Google by not including hacked site in their search index?

think about it............

p.s. By the way Yahoo Glue pages seems more informative and helpful then just plain search results.

News are in air that Gujarat BSNL site is under attack by Hackers. So i thought lets see how it happens to see a hacked site in real !!!

I opened gujarat.bsnl.co.in and it came without any problem, may be i'm late !!
but after a while i see a page that says,

etc etc..

Crystal Report controls gets locked in VS2003 IDE, How TO?

I encountered a strange problem recently while working on a Crystal Report in my ASP.Net project.

The Project I'm working on is developed in VS2003 in framework 1.1 and i was using VS2003 IDE to modify crystal report file.

when today i opened the crystal report file in VS2003 IDE, i see that the controls on my reports are locked !!!! I Cannot move, resize or add new controls. All I can do was to change the text in a text control.

this took me mad for a while, and i was astonished. i mean what could have i done wrong ?

but after sometime, i got to know the problem. this is how it occurred to be ...

If you open a crystal report file in VS2003 IDE without opening that solution or web project, you cant (!!) change or modify the file.

so must open the solution first and then open the file from the solution explorer itself, in order to do some changes there !!

nice way to trouble our life...... thanks gates (who recommends windows !!) uncle.

Powerset is launched today, is a new kid in town where searching is everybody's hobby (or rather business i should say).

I remember Last time i went thru it's site, it seem promising, and today when i took a test ride, it seems fundamentally strong. I said fundamentally 'coz it has to do lot more in order to stand firm in the search engine space which is dominated by Google mainly and other few notable players including yahoo,msn,ask...

there seems people noticing and even comparing it with Google (OMG !!) but it's all happening.

at present it's searching wiki pages, but will see more action soon, hopefully.

if you are a customer of Reliance india mobile and want to disable Reliance Netconnect on my mobile, you will not like to know that, you simply can't !!!
The answer is, NO.
As per Reliance rules all the mobile connections are pre-activated and if you have a handset that's data cable ready you can use the service, but you can't simply opt out of that shit !!!!

Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the villagers
that he would buy monkeys for Rs10.

The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the
forest and started catching them.

The man bought thousands at Rs10 and as supply started to diminish, the
villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy
at Rs20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching
monkeys again.

Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to
their farms. The offer rate increased to Rs25 and the supply of monkeys
became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch
it!

The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at Rs50! However, since he
had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on
behalf of him.

In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. Look at all
these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them
to you at Rs35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell it to
him for Rs50."

The villagers squeezed up with all their savings and bought all the monkeys.

Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere!!!

Indian Financial System Code (IFSC) is an alpha numeric code designed to uniquely identify the bank-branches in India. This is 11 digit code with first 4 characters representing the banks code, the next character reserved as control character (Presently 0 appears in the fifth position) and remaining 6 characters to identify the branch. This is different from the MICR code, which has 9 digits to identify the bank-branch. If you don’t know your branch’s IFS Code, then contact your bank’s customer care.
