Quick tip create wonderful pixelated text in minutes

I will show you how to create wonderful pixelated text. In this gimp tutorial we will use pixelize blur to cretae pixelated text. You will not need time so much to create it, just in minutes. Please see how i do it. If you like typography, you'll love this.

Software : GIMP 2.6.8
Font : Sans Bold Italic

Step 1

Creat new image, file > new. Image size width: 1920 px height: 1200 px. Fill with black colour (#000000). Then, create new layer, and fill with gradient color. In this tutorial, i use setting gradient color, I pull gradient from the left edge until along the red line, so the result as below:

So we have two layer, and the result of the gradient color as below:

Step 2

Write a word that is you like, but i take a word "pixeL" in this tutorial. Font size 310 px and i use font color #535353.

Step 3

In this step we will fill font with gradient color.The gradient color which was created before use to fill font color. To fill it, create Alpha to Selection on pixeL layer. You can do it by right click on the pixeL layer, and choose Alpha to Selection. So we have the result as below:

Ok we have half of this step. Then, go to gradient layer and invert selection by select > invert (ctrl+I). Press delete after we are invert selection.

Step 4

Before we continue this tutorial, hide the pixeL text layer by click the layer item visibility. in this step we use pixelize blur to create pixelated text. Still in same layer in step 3, then go to filtr > blur > pixelize set pixel width and pixel height with same value, in this i fill value 17. Ok we have finished it and the result as below:

In this tutorial, i create simple poster to campaign the free software. Life is really harmony, all created in pairs, male and female, good and bad, right and left, etc. The eastern culture is always the right side first from the left side, which they think is goodness. Back to in this tutorial.

In this, i campaign GIMP vs Photoshop. GIMP is a free design software in the Linux operating system, while Photoshop is a design software produced by Adobe.

Step 1

Open the slippers image file. Before edit it, we save as in another workspace with the different name in this 'Create poster tuts.xcf'.

Step 2

Select the Photoshop logo and Gimp logo.

Copy each logo in 'Create poster tuts.xcf' workspace, each logo in different layer.Adjust the position of each logo to match with the slippers picture.

Step 3

Change the layer mode of photoshop logo become color mode.

Change the layer mode of gimp logo become multiply mode and layer opacity value 49.8.

Step 4

Create the square with the rectangle select tool. Fill the square with #ffed24.

Write 'Right person uses the right side first!!' with fill color #5e5e5e.

Step 5

We have finished, save the workspace and save file on jpg format.

I found tutorial create colorful typography with photoshop from Grafisia.com so i try to create in gimp free software design. Imagine if this world there is only black and white, it would be boring. Colors will be more beautiful if we are able to harmonize within a work. In this tutorial i want to match colors to create colorful typography. I use color reference from colorlovers. I think this tutorial, can be a reference in logo making of a design company or plural comunity logo.

Step 1

Creat new image, file > new. Image size width : 1500 px height : 1000 px. Fill with white colour (#ffffff).

Step 2

Write 'gogimp' each font in different layer. Font size 300 px.In this I use Sans Bold. Fill font with different colour, in this i use

Arrange the font position so the position like this.

Step 3

Change the layer mode on each font to be multiply, so become like this

Step 4

Save image and you have been finished.
