In addition to my regularly scheduled activities:  I’ve been eating a lot of  falafel at Soom Soom on 72nd and Broadway and listening to Rose Garden by Shad.

It must be Basket Week here on Design Scouting. I came across these hybrid baskets  ($45) by designer Cordula Kehrer on Svpply’s weekly round up email (which I highly recommend!).  See more at Areaware.  We’re packing up for a long weekend in Boston — Alex is marching around insisting we get the suitcase so he can pack.

This basket ($35) caught my eye in the Privet House Collection at Target.  It would be great for toy wrangling.  Also, could be a candidate for a little neon spray paint.

I’ve long followed photographer Anne Verlet Shelton on Flickr. She was nice enough to let me put up one of her lovely images for today’s Daily Dose of Green.

This week it’s been all about finding new coffee mugs.

The Cuppow turns canning jars into travel mugs (I almost wrote “sippy cup” which marks me as a mom first and foremost).  This made me think of iced coffee, summer and picnics and road trips.  In that order.

My friend Jim is the mastermind and star of Chow.com’s “Supertaster” series — he does food reviews in two minute videos. They are awesome and funny and you should take a look. My favorite so far is this video where Jim reviews five different brands of pizza in two minutes.   Don’t miss the review of “Health Valley Organic Multigrain Chocolate Toaster Tarts” and the video wherein Jim tests the Aeroshot Caffeine Inhaler.

From an amazing collection at the Library of Congress by photographer Frances Benjamin Johnston, 1864-1952:

The photographer Frances Benjamin Johnston (1864-1952) was a dedicated advocate of the garden beautiful movement in the early 1900s. Guided by her formal training as a fine artist, she had 1,130 of her black-and-white photographs reproduced as lantern slides. These views on glass, most hand-tinted, illustrated Johnston’s popular lectures, which she delivered to garden club members, museum audiences, and horticultural societies from 1915 through the 1930s.

This t-shirt made me laugh and laugh since I’m totally this person.
