Say it isn’t so..but rumor has it that Anderson Cooper has been offered one million dollars to take the pill Go Away Gray and Tweet/ Facebook his thoughts about his experience. The Go Away Gray pill claims to make the body produce more Catalase, an enzyme that breaks down hydrogen peroxide, a culprit of gray hair. Doesn’t sound too healthy to us!

Anderson, you are gorgeous just the way you are. We hope you make the right choice.

“I was au naturale until the last two years or so. My mother died, my long-term relationship split up, and I have had some serious health and professional challenges. Being back on the dating market again, I thought coloring was a way to look younger. And I feel younger. BUT, now that I’ve decided to grow my hair out for the first time in decades, I regret my decision to dye. It’s expensive (my hair needs professional care as it’s wavy and prone to rebelliousness – like ME!), time-consuming, and inconvenient. Once I get a little further along in some of my other goals – fitness and a career change, I think I will have the courage to go back to my natural color. But I’m not sure how to do that without going SHORT again. My natural color, and my dyed color is a dark brown. My stylist estimates me to be about 70% gray (most of that acquired in the last 3 years). Any advice?”

After dyeing my hair for soooo many years I have forgotten what my true hair colour really is. Well, this year I decided to take a trip down the natural lane to find out. My hair is growing in these wonderful shades from black to brown to gray to white…I can’t wait to see the final outcome. I’ve cut 10 inches off of my waist length dyed black hair and will watch patiently as my crown of glory grows out. Hats off to all the ladies & gentlemen that embrace their true selves. Thank you to the inventors of the internet to give us forums for speech and support.

Margarita Gonzalez loves going gray

We love mail!

Fifty-three-year-old Margarita Gonzalez left a pleasant surprise in our mail box last week. Here’s an except from her letter:

“I love going gray for many reasons. I don’t have to color my hair every 2 weeks. I don’t have to worry about roots showing when the wind hits you from behind. My hair looks healthier than it has in the past 20 years. Now I only visit my hairdresser every time my hair needs a trim.”

“I find that for the most part, people react very well to my natural color, they find it interesting and attractive. I am delighted!”

“I could not have done this without my husband’s support. There were times when I was very close to running to the salon to color it again but he convinced me to wait it out. I have also gotten my mother, 76 to forget about dyeing her hair. She is thrilled!”

A lot of you have reached out to us about growing out gray hair, and here at the Going Gray Blog we take your courage to make this step very seriously. From here on out, we thought it would be a good idea to highlight your questions (with your permission, of course!) and open them up to our readers. Last week, we received this message:

“Hi my name is Christy, and i know that i have salt and pepper gray under my dye job. I color it a medium golden brown; I’ve been coloring it for a long time. I’m now 53yrs old and curious, but I feel I will need to go to my hairdresser to make the transition because it will be something that makes me nervous. I used to go to my hairdresser and she would do my hair a medium blonde with highlights. It was pretty but i was getting tired of doing all that so now i do it one color myself at home, and i still have never seen my gray.. do you think i should try letting it grow out some and decide from there?”
