Spokespersons for Sprint discussed today what Sprint’s plans for the future are regarding 4G and other technology. Sprint plans to create a multi-mode network platform that will enable various technologies to be deployed on a common platform, while also lowering costs.

Sprints plans on a quick LTE deployment with the first series of these devices to be available by mid 2012. The LTE network should be noticeably faster than the existing 4G WiMAX services. WiMax devices will be sold throughout the year of 2012.

The topic of Sprint’s partnership with LightSquared was only brought up. Sprint plans to host the LightSquared service on the 1600 MHz frequency; however, this is pending FCC approval. Sprint also plans to wholesale the 2500 Mhz WiMAX spectrum through an agreement with Clearwire.

The next topic for discussion was the network vision progress. When the iPhone 4s becomes available on October 14, Sprint plans to be prepared with improvements to cell sites. Sprint currently has worked on 22,000 cell sites for 3G/4G technology. New tower arrangements will be in place to avoid having customers roam on other networks.

Sprint will partner with Alcatel Lucent, Samsung, and Ericsson to turn their three existing networks into one unified network, supporting Sprint Direct Connect, 3G, and 4G LTE networks.

Customers can also look forward to dual mode CDMA/LTE phones and other devices by the middle of 2012. Mobile hotspots, machine to machine apps, cell phones, and embedded modules with LTE will be part of the dual mode technology.

Sprint also announced that the iDEN network should be completely migrated by the middle of 2013, providing three times better coverage.

Goldie Group provides cellular phone parts, accessories, and solutions in the United States and overseas.

The Goldie Group has made another shocking discovery related to Sprint’s mobile service. Sprint has finally confirmed as of today via telephone that the coveted Apple iPhone 4s will now have access to each of the same voice and data plans that are currently enjoyed by owners of Sprint’s current smartphones. These plans will be charged at the same rates as other phones, which should alleviate many of the concerns that consumers have had about the iPhone since its inception.

These unlimited data plans will also feature access to 3G data and includes the 5GB mobile hotspot cap. While more information is not known at this moment, it is a relief to finally have confirmation of these rumors from the source. As many consumers may already know, Sprint is typically tight-lipped about any and all rumors until the last minute, which often results in adding more fuel to the fire for many tech aficionados and consumers alike.

More to come from the Goldie Group on this as Sprint makes the information readily available. For now, consumers can rest easy knowing that a major rumor has been satiated.

Apple has reveled specifications of its next generation iPhone to the Goldie group. Although the new iPhone looks similar to the iPhone 4, Apple claims that the technology inside is quite different.

The new iPhone will run at 1 GHz on a blazing fast A5 dual-core processor. The new phone will revamp graphical performance by using dual core graphics. This update in graphics will allow the new iPhone to run up to seven times faster than the old iPhone.

The new iPhone makes use of a new technology that utilizes two antennas to improve call quality. The technology chooses whichever signal is strongest and automatically switches to that one.

The camera on the new iPhone is a gigantic leap forward. Cameras on smartphones used to be considered a neat little gimmick to have, but now they are an absolute necessity. The camera on the iPhone 4S is right on par with stand alone cameras.

The iPhone 4S produces 8GB images with a f2.4 aperture which ensures that all photographs come out super crisp and clear, even in low light.

The new iPhone will come in both black and white and will range in price from $199 for the 16 GB to $399 for the 64GB. The device will be available for purchase on October 14th.

T-Mobile is publicly supporting Samsung pertaining to their legal issues with Apple. A legal brief filed with the U.S. International Trade Commission by T-Mobile, is in reference to Samsung and Apple’s issues with smart phone development. The statement released in part by T-Mobile states “While T-Mobile respects intellectual property rights and believes that owners of intellectual property deserve the right to present their arguments and evidence of infringement in court, a preliminary injunction is a drastic and extraordinary measure, and the courts should pay particular attention to its public consequences,” Verizon Wireless publicly backed Samsung, declaring “that a ban against Samsung would hurt its sales and its ability to deploy its Long Term Evolution 4G network”. Apple and Samsung have a history of legal proceedings regarding the ever mounting growth of smart hone patents across the globe.

Sprint has just confirmed in correspondence to the Goldie Group that customers will no longer be able to obtain one year renewal contracts. These changes, which will occur on October 2nd, will affect both new and existing customers.

If a customer wants to get a discount on a new phone, the customer will be forced to get a two year contract. Customers previously could extend their contracts for one year and get a $75 markdown on a new device.

Customers will still have the option of paying on a month to month basis after their contract expires, but they will not receive any discounts on the cost of purchasing a new phone.

Sprint has stated that this change will not affect the majority of their customer base because most of their customers already choose a two year contract. They also noted that their main competitor, Verizon, recently cut their one year plans as well.

On October 2, Sprint will also roll out a policy change that caps their mobile hotspot service at 5 GB. Sprint also intends to launch its DirectConnect service which is powered by the carriers CDMA network on the same day.

It was announced that starting October 6, 2011, Boost Mobile will add an extra $5 to the monthly price for all Android smart phones data and voice plans. This coincides with the October 7, 2011, release of the new Samsung Transform Ultra. The Monthly Unlimited plan will remain the same with unlimited text, talk and Internet. All customers currently on the Monthly Unlimited plan can keep their plan at the same price, but Boost Mobile customers upgrading to a CDMA Droid phone after the October 6 cut off will be forced to pay an extra $5 per month. To offset this price increase, Boost Mobile is now including Android plans in their Shrinkage program. Under this program, the monthly payment decreases by $5 a month after six consecutive months of on-time bill payments.

A new and improved, 64 GB, microSDXC phone card has been unveiled by SanDisk. Combining Class 6 performance with transfer speeds up to 30 Mbps, this chip dramatically improves the read/write speeds of High Definition video.

Identical in size and shape to current microSD cards, the new phone card is designed to fit into any existing microSD slot. However, most current phones only support 32 GB cards, so the targeted device must support microSDXC compatibility to fully utilize the 64 GB features of the new card.

Bruce Goldie of the Goldie Group indicated that, for the time being, the new card will only ship from the manufacturer at a retail price of $219.99. Retailers will not start to see deliveries for several more months.

It was revealed today that Opera Software acquired Handster Inc., a company that currently operates in the U.S. and Ukraine. It provides Opera not only a mobile application store platform, but a large Android content library as well. Handster already services many large device manufacturers, and this can only help strengthen the Opera Store which was started in March, allowing them access to Handster customers such as Ericsson and LG. Both Opera and Handster currently support Android, BlackBerry, Java and Symbian. Handster adds Windows Mobile to that list, which also already includes iOS. The combination of these two companies should make the Opera Store an even bigger contender on the mobile application market.

Today, telecommunications leader LG has hotly denied that it has already cut staff from its overseas mobile phone operations headquarters. Last Friday, rumors began surfacing via the Korean Economic Daily that LG had cut nearly 30% of the workers from the cell phone portion of its business. Since this report was cited by Reuters, LG had originally refused to comment. As of now, the company claims that the original report was without base. “We are always looking at opportunities to improve the performance of our mobile business but no decision has been made as to any job reductions,” claimed an unnamed LG spokesperson. Supporting details about the rumor is currently unavailable, although there have been many hints as of lately which point towards LG struggling to keep its overseas cell phone operations profitable. Goldie Group will release more information as it becomes available.
