She's a beast when it comes to do it yourself projects, sewing, and thrifting. Thrifting is pretty popular right now with the recession going on, one person's trash is another person's treasure.

New Post Bodycon Dresses

Hey Glitterati,

I am pretty much a classic lady. I love dresses and showing my legs. Especially the era of time when ladies wore dresses everywhere, wore slips, and stockings. The new trend I love is wearing Banded dresses, which can be also called body con dresses. These aren't your average Kelly Bundy dresses. The fact that these dresses show the curvyness of a woman. Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both of these dresses are from ASOS.com I am a big fan of leopard print and LBD "Little Black Dresses." They are both simplistic and can work the room with the right accessories and shoes. The Little Black Dress can use more accessories and pop of color with the shoes. The leopard print can use an understated look on the accessories side because the print can be overwhelming.

Hello Glitterati,

Last month I attended the Kryolan City Chicago's Illamasqua unveiling. I've always wanted to go to the Kryolan store, but this was a good excuse to go. There was Hors d'oeuvres, wine, sweets, and makeup; My kind of combination. I met up with @eyeadorepretty, @curvatude, @aziajs_faces. At the end we received a goodie bag with a gift certificate. Now the thing is, what do I buy with this gift certificate? I have been curbing my personal makeup buys in order to buy things for my makeup artist kit, which I am still building. So these are the things I would buy from Kryolan with my gift certificate:

I've been using sponges since I went to the Makeup Show Chicago-and Sam Fine used them in his demonstration. They are actually better than using brushes in my opinion.

I'm so excited on Jan 21st I will be starting my makeup portfolio, with 4 models (all of them Sorors), and my photographer is Ty @tyfotos from Chicago. I know I will rock it out! I will keep you all posted.

Hey Glitterati,

A little over a month ago I turned the big 3-0. Turning 30 scares most people, but it's made me excited. Excited about getting older and the possibilities of growth. In 30 short years, I have accomplished what most can only dream to accomplish. I am the 1st in my family to graduate High School, and graduate College (St Xavier University). I became a Sigma Gamma Rho, started a blog, and have learned (and continually learning) about beauty and fashion. That's more than enough to celebrate.

I also walked away from a 5 year relationship that I wasn't happy in to become single. That alone took strength and confidence to leave something familiar in order to become happy. I have a piece of mind now....Doors are opening for me, that I couldn't even imagine.

On my actual birthday I was surrounded by people that love me, that all had wonderful things to say about me. I actually got gifts lol. Twitter and Facebook let it rain birthday wishes on a playa. lol! Turning 30 isn't the worst thing ever, to me it's the beginning of something great....growing older.

I can actually say that this birthday trumps all others....even my 21st. I can honestly say that I am coming into my own, and that came from getting older and living life. Hopefully if God is willing I will be able to see many more blessed birthdays. I wanted to leave you with Auntie Peebz (@thePBG) from twitter on youtube talking about turning 30, and why it's not so bad. It's given me hope before I even turned 30, and now I know what she means.

New Post Vision Board 2011

Hey Glitterati,

A while ago, I put together a vision board. A vision board is a tool to keep the person focused on their goals and dreams. A vision board can detail career goals, family, etc. Mine detailed my goals of becoming a makeup artist, fashion stylist, my natural hair goals, sorority goals, and financial goals. I am so excited to announce that in September 2012, I will be attending Tricocci University for their Esthetics program, if God's willing. One step closer to my dream. *insert happy dance*

The 1st part of my vision board is the fashion aspect. I love fashion and art, always have, always will. I am always on the lookout for what's trendy in fashion, and love fashion shows. Toccara is one of my fashion icons, she's plus sized and fly. I am always answering texts, phone calls and emails about fashion and styling outfits for sorors, and friends. I have realized my influence, and always willing to help out. My obsession is shoes and boots.

This represents the makeup artist in me. Sure I can make my face flawless, but making other people flawless is an art in itself. I took a lot of pictures of celebs whose makeup I love Amber Rose, Chrisette Michele, and Mo'nique to name a few. I have also done research on makeup companies, and products. I am looking forward to working ofr one of the companies I have on my board in the future (claiming that). In order to practice, (it makes you better) I sent a email to my sorors and friends letting them know of my services, and consultations. My email was a success, as I have been making appointments for makeovers in November.

This part is the board is my life. It represents the financial, and just thoughts in my head that I think about on a daily basis. One quote I say daily is value is inside of me. I got that from my soror, friend, and Life Coach Kandice Washington-Cole, she helped me learn that instead of letting others give me value, I need to find it within first. Love her to death. An affirmation I got from Oprah's Life Class is Abundance flows all around me.

My sorority corner represents my love, sweat, and tears I give to Sigma Gamma Rho, Sorority Inc. February 28, 2008, I gave my Love, Peace, and Happiness to Sigma, and never looked back. In my chapter (Delta Xi Sigma) I am a Rhoer Coordinator, which is our Auxillary organization of teenage girls that Sigma Gamma Rho mentors. I love for young ladies to look and act like young ladies. Some girls have issues with self esteem, education, etc. I would like them to become their best selves and become great women. I am also a mentor to one our neos in our chapter. I just hope I can give her the best experience of learning and growing as my soror, not to mention I love her to death. :-)

This picture I cut from an Essence article. It really explains my growth spiritually with God. I never think that I am better than anybody because I go to church or read the bible, I am a work in progress. I just hope my walk with God only gets better from here.

New Post Lush Haul

I am back with a Haul of things I bought from Lush in Water Tower (@lushWaterTower on twitter). I have been wanting to try Lush for forever and I got the chance to use some gift cards. Came handy with a list of things to try (recommended by @ProudChapina from twitter)

My first impression of the store was pretty nice. The sales person tried the products on me that I wanted to buy, and a few others that would be good to try. I also got a nice arm massage while the products were sitting on my face.

I ended up buying Ultrabland, Imperialis, Eau Roma Water, Love Lettuce, and a Vitamin C tablet. I guess because I am used to washing my face both in the morning and before i go to bed, I was instructed by the sale person to use the Ultrabland at night before bed, and use the Eau Roma Water in the morning, which works well so far.

UltraBland
It's for all skin types. It has a almond base with rose water, and beeswax. You take a finger full of product and massage it around your face, even on the eye area. Use a cotton ball, or warm towel to wipe the dirt, makeup and product off your face.

Love Lettuce
I use this 2-3 times a week. It's a balancing mask for all skin types. Exfoliation is a good part of your skin care regime that scrubs away the dead skin and debris that clogs the skin and make breakouts. It's a blend of seaweed, almond, and lavender oil, which leaves the skin clean and fresh.

Eau Roma Water
Lavender oil is used for it's gentle and soothing properties. Rose water is used for retaining moisture and an astringent. Astringents evens skin tone and improves the overall appearance of the skin. I use the Roma Water about once a day, in the morning.

Imperialis
I use this twice daily to replenish the moisture from washing and toning my face. It's a very balancing product for the skin, it gives moisture when needed and when it doesn't need as much it doesn't give as much. I think this product is genius. The way it uses the Lavender oil to encourage dry parts of the skin to make more oil.....simply genius!

Vitamin C tablets
The tablet is healing using Vitamin C to clarify the face, and steaming it. The water from the vitamin c tablets can be used as a toner. I haven't used the tablets yet, but the experience from the store demo was a good one. I will be using these in the future and letting you all know it's outcomes. Place the tab in warm water and letting the steam hit your face with the Vitamin C properties.

Overall I was impressed with the products. I love that they list every ingredient in the product, on their website. Everything is listed based on what kind of skin you have and what you want to accomplish with the product. The products if you want to try them out, get the small sizes.....more economical. I'm hooked now! lol!

The summer is over and fall is approaching. The thoughts of tights, boots, and coats dance in our heads. The leaves will turn from green to different shades of brown, gold, and orange. Put away the sandals and bring those boots out. Not just any boots, but Jeffrey Campbell Litas! I have been in awe of Jeffrey Campbell's designs for a while now. The Lita style is the most amazing. From twitter I have found out there are many colors, and textures to the Lita boots, the basic black leather to a gold sequin. It just wouldn't be right if I didn't own a pair of Gold Sequined Litas. (see what I did there? lol)

All Leopard Print Everything

They are a 5 inch wooden heel with a 2 inch platform, which I believe is why they are so comfortable. The leopard print Litas are made of pony hair. You can also wear these boots with everything....jeans, dresses, skirts...multipurpose shoes are a win for me. :-)

My Newest Obsession

My newest obsession is the Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips. For about $8-9 you too can have a salon manicure. It comes with a buffer, nail file, a wooden cuticle tool, and the strips. Sally Hansen has many colors and designs to choose from. There are about 16 strips in each package, with a layer of topcoat, these babies can last over a week. Minx nails and other nail art from the nail shops can get costly, these are a cheaper alternative.

These are the ones I have just found, but I've tried Laced up, and Misbehaved already. To show how much of an obsession this is, I have traveled to many target stores, CVS, and Walgreens looking for other designs that I want badly lol. Removing the salon effects is easy, by using Acetone remover. I want everyone to get them a set and let me know how it goes.

@HappilyNappyMe from twitter aka Wow Wow Wubzy lol, has used them from my recommendations, and is singing Sally Hansen's praises! Lol!

Loving Your Hair with Natural Care Seminar

I had the pleasure of being invited by Felicia Leatherwood (@lovingyourhair on twitter), celebrity natural hair stylist, to attend the Loving Your Hair with Natural Care Seminar at the Oasis Salon and Barbershop, 2150 S Canalport in Chicago, IL.
This is my 1st event actually as a blogger, and I was totally excited!!!!! I can tell by Ms. Leatherwood's, passion that she is really into healthy hair.

She covered:

Diet- important for healthy hair.
*Beans are rich in Biotin, if you're biotin deficient your hair will be dry and brittle.
*Nuts are rich in Selenium, and Omega 3 fatty acids. Both are good for healthy hair and skin.
*Yogurt is rich in Calcium, that's good for healthy hair and skin.
*Dark green veggies are a good source of Vitamin A and C.

Co Washing- Most naturals are so bent on co washing that they develop a film on the hair. The product never gets to the hair and scalp because of the film. Consider getting a creamy shampoo and it's nothing wrong with clarifying the hair.

Washing-she recommended washing the hair 3 times. To effectively remove the buildup and dirt from the hair.

For Locs-squeeze shampoo and conditioner through the locs, to condition and wash throughout the loc. Also, dry under the dryer to combat the mildew smell.

Komaza Care-a line from California, they have a coconut hair pudding I want to try for retwisting my locs. (@komazahaircare on twitter)

She also performed demonstration of different hair styles for different types, such as twa (teenie weenie afros) and shingling on loose hair.

At the end she met everyone individually and stayed behind to answer questions. To actually take a picture with her and get a big hug was the highlight of my blogging career.I felt like I got plenty out of the seminar, and I really enjoyed myself.

Blue With Envy-OOTN

Hey Glitterati,

Sorry I been gone so long, I've been super duper busy. :-( I know ya'll missed me. Plus, I haven't done a Outfit of the Day/Night Post in a hawt minute. This past weekend, I went to Cincinnati OH for my Regional Conference. (SGRho) I went to the awards banquet and wanted something jazzy (my friend Brody calls me this all the time) but will have all eyes on me.

Mission accomplished.

People were either asking who made it, or whispering lol. When I say I'm a Loc RHOcker Show Stopper, I mean it. :-) I'm the show, and the afterparty! #pow

I was inspired by Kandi from RHOA, the dress she wore when she attended Cynthia's wedding. The only difference was I didn't have the pepulum around the waist.

Mz B and Living The Good Life

Hello Glitterati,

To increase my exposure and get more people to become fabulous on the inside and outside, I have started a monthly blog post on my SoRHOr Kandice's Blog called Living The Good Life.

This opportunity is a blessing for me, as I am looking to become a makeup artist, and taking Aesthetic classes starting in August of this year. I have always been into makeup and skincare since High School. I wore makeup all the time lol. As far as fashion wise, we wore uniforms, but I wore a skirt everyday (even in the bitter cold winters of Chicago), that's what tights are for, lol! Other than bleeding blue n gold, I bleed fashion, beauty, and makeup.....

I have started my business, Golden Moments, as a makeup artist and stylist of fashion. Motivation from friends, family, and sorors, I started this business to be able to share my gifts with others.....and get paid for it. I will share the link from the blog post.

Beauty on a Dime

Thanks to Krissy from Addicted to All Things Pretty, her rockin' red lippy....I am bring you the exact same red lip. All the products were under $2 except my vino lip liner from MAC.

*If you're doing a red lip, exfoliate those lips. (a simple sugar scrub and toothbrush will work)

*Prime those lips with a good moisturizer. (I use burt's beeswax)

*Line your lips, to keep the color from bleeding. (here you can tone the lipstick down or turn the color up of the lipstick)

*Use a lip brush, or just apply from the tube. This time I'm using Garnet Lipstick from Black Radiance.

*To finish the look off, I used to the Scarlet gloss, which is very shiny and tingly.

Before I end the look, I use paper towel to blot the excess product off, nobody likes lipstick on their teeth.

Tah dahhhh I hope you like. Any other red lip products that you use on a regular?

I know it's been a long time, my dear glitterati. I have come back with some tea to sip with you ladies and gents. I will be going out for the 1st time in my 29 years on New Years Eve, to go see Kevin Hart at the Chicago Theater. I will get a updo with my locs, which I will post later....that just made a year old. :-)

Now let's get to the outfit.

I would RHOck this with gold accessories, black tights, and nude pumps. What do u think? What are you doing for nye, and what are you wearing?

Hello Lovelies,

Raising the roof for internet access (literally lol). October 2 was my bday....Shout out to all the Libras!!! #wootwoot

I thought I would do a wishlist for the fall/winter season....things I plan on buying or wish I could buy lol.

I know I would shut the spot down at Regional Conference with this number....Monif put her drawls in this one! Fabulous Glamour and sparkle all in one package.

As we go into winter, a great coat is needed to keep you warm and looking great. The military look is in right now, but this coat is a fab coat regardless. This coat can be found at www.avenue.com

Another coat from the Avenue is this versatile leather jacket....you can wear sweaters underneath or hoodies, when the temperature goes down.

Fall and winter means holiday's are coming up, and the parties will be poppin' off. This dress from ASOS will keep you looking great and have compliments coming your way.

I wanted this to be my birthday dress, but I will just get it to wear when I step out.....I just thought it was sooooo fly! With some colored tights and boots or pumps...chile!!!

Updates and Such

Hello My Lovelies,

I know it's been a long time since I have written a post. I finally got internet access and a little time in between working. I bought a car, it's not new, but it's new to me. I got a ford focus, my 1st car was a ford focus. #wootwoot So now I can get around and go out more. The only thing is I can't shop at much, but I WILL still shop..it's in my blood, it's what I do.

I do have a tumblr under the same name goldnglitters. I do more of my styling and fashion sense on there as well. Soon I will be back on my posts more....I want to write a transitioning from summer to fall post, and what every woman needs for the fall. Coming soon to a innanet near you!

Wedding Makeup

This past weekend I went to a wedding of Nerissa and Thomas. It was sooooo beautiful and touching. It gave me plenty of ideas whenever I end up taking the leap lol. In other news my boyfriend, Chris caught the garter of the bride!!!! That was such a hoot. lol!

New Color Beginnings

This past weekend I finally got my hair colored. When Chris from Christian Fields Style Bar 6550 S Cottage Grove in Chicago, explained to me his vision I was a tad bit scared. I have had 3 different colors in my hair before, but that was 7 years ago, and haven't colored my hair since I've been natural.

I love that there's a gradual color transition. Now that I am fully loc'd I can wash and twist my hair in between going to the shop. Also, I am on the lookout for a good conditioner for color treated hair. This week has made the 8th month loc'd. I am so proud of my hair, and how it's grown and transformed me as a person. I am more patient and caring to my hair and my body as a whole.

Clean Locs

This past weekend, I washed my locs on my own for the 1st time. My scalp was dirty and needed to be clean more than what seabreeze could do on my scalp. I watched bronzegoddess on youtube and she bought her shampoo from the dollar store. So I went to my nearest dollar tree and found it $1 holla! I bought 3 of them...all they had. lol!

I retwisted my hair with Jamaican Mango and Lime Loc Gel, and set them on rollers. Then sat under the dryer for an hour. I took the rollers down and used some tea tree spray on my scalp and massaged it. This is how I looked when I took them down.

I love it. I did a pretty good job seeing that it was my 1st time. I like them when the curls fall some.

This new outfit of the day came as a accident really. I was running errands, needed to do laundry...and wanted to look a lil jazzy today.
