We are very honored and happy to present an article from the one-and-only Triforce. Yes, the big man that's always number one in line for Nintendo system/game launches, as well as the man that legally changed his name to Triforce. When he puts together a passionate article about video games and eSports, all while working in WWE references, how can I not share?! Video Games are not E-sports. It's Digital Competitive Entertainment, like the WWE. Check out this formula that I’ve created. Trash talk videos = WWF promos. MvC2, MK and Curley Mustache Belts = Intercontinental, WWE and World Heavy Weight Belts. Money Matches = Money in the Bank. Diva's Championship = Ladies of Street Fighter. (Commentators) Jim Ross & Booker T = Yipes & Keth Sillian. Tag Team = 2 v 2 Teams. Royal Rumble = Pools. There is an Evolution video where Sanford said in the 2011 Evo vid, that it was WrestleMania for Fighting Games....then SBO would be the Japan division. I don't see how anyone could compare it any other way other than a structured competitive event. Yeah...it has elements of actual sports...but that's about it.

I created the formula back in 2002 when I founded Empire Arcadia. Throughout the years I’ve heard a lot of counter points to the formula such as actual sports is not being scripted, the system of the competition is not regulated and the referees are being distracted by looking the other way, etc. Be that as it may, both will always have comparisons that can be argued and neither will be dead on. However it leans more to WWE
than anything else. That is not a bad thing either.

I think gamers need to stop depending on the legitimacy of “Sports” as a crutch in hoping that mainstream will accept gaming “Seriously”. Gaming has already eclipsed that threshold a long time ago. Gaming has been a culture since the early 80’s yet everyone is coming to realize it now, by trying to “legitimize” something that does not need any legitimacy.

What it needs is support and confidence from gamers around the world. Leagues like MLG, EVO and WCG to name a few; have pushed forward with their brand of competition during a time when competitive gaming was considered a high level risk and not very likely to expand beyond the boundaries of its community. They did it because they believed in their own ability to make it work. We need to support that effort and belief and
stop worrying about the acceptance of professional sports. We don’t need their acceptance, we just need to structure it professionally and it will be professional.

Japan - Retailers discuss the early sales success of Harvest Moon: The Land's Origin

How did Harvest Moon: The Land's Origins do in its launch week? We'll have the full details later this week, but here's what retailers are saying thus far.

- Unnamed retailer: “Did Harvest Moon always sell this much on the first day?”
- solid first-day sales
- “A rare occasion, more than half the customers were female, so it seems like the sales at this store will reach great numbers.”
- new shipment of The Land of Origin won’t be sent out by Marvelous AQL until sometime during the first ten days of March

-Unnamed retailer #2: “Harvest Moon sells well as usual, even after moving to the 3DS. Although, it’s a slow start as usual. (lol)”

- Unnamed retailer #3: The Land of Origin’s special edition sold out
- “Perhaps it’s because the commercials were very effective, but after we sold out, many more people asked for it right up until store closing time.”

- Unnamed retailer #4: “Pre-orders included, ultimately the game with the best customer reaction was Harvest Moon.”

Nintendo to Mark the Launch of Kid Icarus: Uprising with National Multiplayer Tournament

To prepare fans for the March 23 launch of Kid Icarus: Uprising for the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo of America will host multiplayer tournaments at select GameStop stores across the United States starting March 8 and culminating in a national championship event in New York on Thursday, March 22. Three winners from each market will participate in the final round. The final national championship event at the GameStop store at Broadway and 84th Street in New York will also feature a special pre-sale opportunity, allowing consumers to purchase the game one day before it goes on sale throughout North America.

The bracket-style tournament will include regional competition at select GameStop locations in San Francisco (March 8), Orlando, Fla., (March 11), Los Angeles (March 15) and New York (March 22). Winners from each of the four markets will be eligible to win prizes including an all-expenses-paid trip to New York to participate in the national championship and a variety of exclusive Kid Icarus-themed items. Even if they are not participating in tournament play, consumers will be able to visit GameStop tournament locations to play Kid Icarus: Uprising before its nationwide launch on March 23.

Kid Icarus: Uprising takes the action of this fan-favorite series to new heights. Players use the Nintendo 3DS system’s Circle Pad, touch screen and buttons to maneuver the heroic Pit as he battles enemies in the air and on land. The new game also incorporates collectible weapons and online multiplayer modes. Each copy of the game comes with six AR cards that can interact with the game, as well as a Nintendo 3DS stand.

Iwata Asks: Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai - summary

The interview features info from Makoto Osaki and Motoshi Takabe, both part of AM2...

- Osaki's role is "probably what would generally be called something like a producer."
- Takabe is the director of Future Stars
- Takabe wrote the design doc, gave instruction for creation of the "PV" videos that play during the game, and oversaw the development scen
- money and staff issues were left to Osaki
- Iwata says he has played a lot of Daytona
- AM2 has been working on Hatsune Miku since 2009
- the technology used for Mirai and the special Miku videos comes from Virtua Fighter
- creation of the PVs, the simulation for Miku's hair and the staff making them are from Virtua Fighter
- project manager You Utsumi revealed that the game originally showed the characters in their standard proportions
- the devs felt that the characters ended up looking too small
- a design choice was made to match the Good Smile Company's Nendoroid figures
- game uses voice and face recognition
- you can use your voice to select songs
- facial recognition can be seen in the game's alarm clock mode
- Miku will wait until you leave the camera's view, and then come out to look for you

Now we're very happy to inform you that Mr. Pallotta is the winner of an Oscar, which Moonbot grabbed from The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore. "Original Quote on size restrictions: ‘…or if they do they are reasonable restrictions (40MB is horrible….2GB is reasonable).’"

So...Team Meat doesn't know the actual number. I remember reporting awhile back that eShop games could be as big as the largest SD card that functions with the 3DS. I still like that answer better!
