Event Description: PR Week ‘08, with the theme ‘Road to Excellence’ is designed to expose students on public relations issues, roles, activities, challenges and the profession as a whole. Next is to offer opportunity for PR students to display their works and activities. Thirdly, is to further inspire those who are planning to specialize in Public Relations field. Finally, is to provide a platform to exchange opinions and ideas on public relations issues with students from other university. Among the activities proposed are: PR Tea Talk, PR Exhibition, Mock Press Conference, PR visit and PR Race. These activities will take place in different day except for PR Exhibition which will be held for the whole week of the program.

Orange Blast 2008

Event Description: IPRMSA-IIUM Chapter has participated in the ‘Orange Blast 2008’ that is organized in conjunction with the ten years anniversary of Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC). Orange Blast 2008’ is a one day communication event planned with the aim of providing essential educational information relating to the field of communication. These include information in the areas of advertising and public relations that would be valuable for communication students. Workshops and exhibition involving the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents (4A’s) and Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM) were the main highlights of this event. Members also have opportunity to attend a talk on “Features Media in Malaysia” which was delivered by Mr. Suhaimi Sulaiman, a prominent figure in mass media.

Event Description: Management Course for Student Leader (MCLEAD) is one of official programs which is organized by Student Development Division (S-Dev) every year and it is meant for our newly office bearers of IPRMSA-IIUM Chapter , Sis Ha ri dom (Asst Secretary) and Bro Rizzuan Abd Razak (Treasurer). The programme was held at Perlok Recreational Camp, Sungkai, Perak Darul Ridzuan. The main objectives of this program was to equip student leaders with skills and knowledge in managing an association/club. Other than that, it is a very important course to ensure that all associations/clubs are able to follow the rules and regulations concerning club activities.

PR Exhibition 2007

Event Description: PR Exhibition was a three-day event organized by IPRMSA-IIUM Chapter. The main sponsor for this exhibition was CIMB Wealth Advisor. Among the objectives of the event was to expose students on public relations activities and profession as a whole. The event was officiated by the honourable Rector of IIUM, Y.Bhg. Prof. Dato’ Syed Arabi Idid. Among activities conducted were PR proposal competition, mock press conference and PR exhibition. The closing ceremony was held on August 16, 2007 by the Head of Communication Department, Assoc. Professor Dr. Azmuddin Ibrahim. All in all, the event received an overwhelming response from Communication students, IIUM and students from other universities.

Public Relations Proposal Competition - Rector’s Award (PROP-A)

Event Description: IPRMSA-IIUM is back with more exciting and challenging activities. Public Relations Proposal Competition-Rector’s Award (PROP-A) aims to highlight the importance of research in PR strategic planning, to develop high self esteem among contestants, to further inspire those who are planning to specialize in the Public Relations field, to enhance communication skills among PR students and to provide a platform to exchange opinions and ideas on public relations issues with students from other universities. The competition is open to all public and private universities in Malaysia. Contestants are required to prepare a comprehensive PR proposal for an assigned client and win a challenge trophy. The event will include representatives from each client's company, the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia (IPRM) and PR practitioners from PR agencies to serve as a panel of judges. A challenge trophy will be given to the best group.

Induction Course and Strategic Planning

Event Description: New office bearers of IPRMSA-IIUM Chapter attended an induction course on February 2, 2008 at Impiana Country Resort, Hulu Langat, Selangor. Among the objectives of the event was to instill a sense of belonging among members towards the association and give them the opportunity to present their proposal in the presence of IPRMSA advisor. These proposals were to be submitted to Kulliyyah for approval and will be organized on next semester. The program also received useful input from Mdm. Zeti Azreen Ahmad, Advisor of IPRMSA – IIUM Chapter.

Corporate forum: CSR VS CSI

The objectives of this forum are to introduce CSR to target audience, to create ample exposure to the target audiences about the important of CSR and to identify the role of PR and CSR or any emerging trends. Event Description: Member of IPRMSA-IIUM Chapter were invited to attend a talk on “Image Public Relations & Crisis Communication” and Cartoon Exhibition entitled “Public Relations and Around: As I Found” at Faculty of Communication and Media Studies of UITM. The talk was delivered by Dr Ajit Pathak, Secretary of Global Alliance of Public relations and Communication Management (first Asian). He is also President Public Relations Society of India.The objective of this seminar is to enhance students’ knowledge in image public relations and crisis communication.The seminar commenced with an opening remark by program manager, Mohamed Helmi Bin Deris and keynote address by Deputy Dean Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Dr Abd Rashid Abd Rahman. Besides, this seminar also was attended by other universities and colleges like Lim Kok Wing and Help University College as well as public relations practitioners. It was a great opportunity for students to gather and discuss their role in the industry besides, create network with other students and public relations practitioners.

7th Annual General Meeting

The meeting witnessed the election of the new council members for 2007/2008 term. Madam Zeti Azreen, Advisor of IPRMSA - IIUM Chapter and Mr Hafizan Kamarulzaman, Manager IPRM was also present at the meeting.
