I had a run of bad luck this week, so with some new found free time I whipped up Little Goku here for a character styling challenge run by Luigi Lucarelli. Normally Goku’s all perky and stuff but today he’s just plain sick of your sh*t. ;)

Hello Folks !

My first Gorilla post ! I’m glad to be part of this amazing group of talented people, I wanted something a bit special for your eyes on this occasion. About one year and a half ago, I stated working on a very special comics project : Run, the creator of the acclaimed Mutafukaz comics ( >> check it ! A great tribute to pulp, street and gangsta culture, really forward looking ) offered me the chance to work on a very special one shot issue that would give a conclusion to the whole story, and that would take place in a surreal Las Vegas …

Today the project is on standby, I hope we can start again working on it, but after 1,5 years I thought I could share some of the first tests I did when we started working together… I hope you dig these pages !

these are a few paintings, compromised hideously by my camera. and a tediously handwritten tattoo i recently inked. i’m related to whaling cannabilism. i think that’s pretty cool. and that explains my vegetarianism i think.

i’ve really enjoyed scavanging wood for decrepit frames. unfortunately nothing got photographed recently from a few sales, and are now gone forever. this little stinker noone wanted :( there’s a dark filter on it to get ridda glare

Bad Unkl Sista is an experience. They’re a mashup of Butoh without the depression and couture without the haughty. However you try to classify them - what they are is art, imagination and drama. My friend Leif Jeffers, an animator at DreamWorks, and I are organizing an art auction fundraiser that will be held next year. Earlier this year my girlfriend, Cat, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 25. On November 3rd, 2009, she had a bilateral mastectomy after going through 16 weeks of chemotherapy. As you can imagine it has been hard for her, not only mentally and physically, but financially. In order to help alleviate some of her medical bills Leif and I wanted to throw an art auction. The proceeds that are left over after her medical bills have been paid will go to a breast cancer related charity to be determined by the artists in the coming weeks.”

I’ve been pursuing personal work since the start of this year, and I feel I’ve finally got that creative spark back and I’m really enjoying everything, and having lots of fun. I dont think they have grown as much technically as I’d like but I feel without the right mindset that’s not possible anyway, so I’m sure that side will gain momentum eventually.

Unfortunately since the clothing store I work at closed down, I gotta try get an illustration folio happening, since I don’t know how much longer i can stand working in retail, hehe!!

Man, the work you gorillaz are doin’ is awesome. Wish I was doin’ more studies, personally. Sigh.

At any rate, this is some finished professional work.
This is part two of a series on minimally invasive brain hemorrhage (blood clot) repair…this one is for a hemorrhage within the ventricular system of the brain.
It’s hb pencil on marker paper plus Photoshop and a smidge of Illustrator (for the neuro-navi lines in blue).
Created as a series to promote this surgical device. Each element was done at roughly 5 x 8 inches at 300 dpi and then prepped into this single layout for PPT.
I didn’t bic my head…still have hair. ;)

I was asked a few times about how I used the smudge tool on this image. Actually, this was all done with Painter’s Oils, which smudge the paint as you move it across the canvas.
Here are the steps backwards, showing the process.
