vi. to be directly or tangibly associated with events or living traditions, with ideas, or with beliefs, with artistic and literary works of outstanding universal significance. (The Committee considers that this criterion should preferably be used in conjunction with other criteria);

Why would you want to use a see-through dress? I think because it is different and it catches everyone’s attention easily. Walking around the street, everywhere in the world wearing a very thin dress that leaves almost nothing for the imagination is not that popular but fun to think about. After all were born naked, created naked and it flaunts the most natural parts in our body. Okay, not everything that is being displayed is natural but if we like what we see why not let the whole world see it also.

Now, I am giving you a glimpse of some bizarre, weird and sometimes crazy fashion in Japan. Many of these fashion statements are popular in anime, but who would have thought some people in Japan would eventually bring to life the characters, and for what cause or reason? I don’t have the slightest ideal. It can be for creativity, distinction, proclamation of freedom to wear what they want, of simply for fashion sake. What ever reason it maybe, they surely have won their cause mainly because they have driven much attention and fame.

I have immensely enjoyed their show of artistic fashion and I salute them for many reasons. One because of their unique style, they are able to express their freedom and creativity. Second because it takes a lot of courage to be distinct and different from the vast majority. Third because they show what Japan is all about, free and non-judgmental.

Kimono is the traditional clothing in Japan. Nowadays, Kimonos are commonly seen used by women of Japan although it is not exclusive clothing for women. Men wear the kimono most often at weddings, tea ceremonies, and other very special or very formal occasions. Sumo wrestlers wear kimonos when they appear in public because it is required by their practice that they wear such attire. Aside from the big body that a Sumo wrestler has, they can be distinguished from the majority due to their outfit when appearing in public.

According to an account written at geocities.com , “Today, a Japanese woman usually owns only one kimono typically a furosode kimono which is worn for the coming of age ceremony on her 19th birthday. For weddings, the complete bridal kimono and kimono apparel is usually rented. Kimono are also very rarely worn as every day clothing anymore. Occasionally, if you go to a small rural town in Japan or one of small islands like Okinawa, you will see the traditional every day kimono worn by elders.”
