Regular readers of this blog, now I'm a big fan of Triumph and the proud owner of a Triumph Bonneville so I'm always keen to pass on any Triumph related news I pick up. And here's some great news.

Triumph Motorcycles are all excited that Cycle World Magazine (subscribe) have awarded its "2010" Thunderbird, a beautiful bike indeed, Best Cruiser 2009.

You can see and feel the power of the 2010 Truimph Thunderbird at this year's AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, to be held later this month at Mid-Ohio 2009 (Dates) at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course - Lexington Ohio (Guide). If you're going you might also need yourself some hotels in Mansfield Ohio

If you've got some info about a big motorcycle racing destination, got any more dates that I've missed for your favourite bike racing, or if you know TV screening times for any major motorsport (particularly motorcycle racing) in your part of the world, feel free to reply to this post and leave the info here for others. Particularly as MotoGP race is in Qatar, people get a little confused about screening time for live coverage and time zones on the ground in these exotic Locals..

Please also let me know if you have any other local superbike dates - for example, I hear the Australian Superbike Championship and is quite a hoot and Canadian Superbikes are good value too. - I'd love to publish them, or pictures, or travel tips for others, if you're attending any of these races. Torrential Desert Rain in Doha Qatar spoils an Easter Sunday treat for fans of MotoGP and not one place on the Speed TV website with mention of when the rescheduled race (to be held on Monday local time) will air on US Television ! So much for the "Authority"

Finally in April MotoGP Championship returns to us with so many great changes including our Nicky Hayden on a factory Ducati alongside Australian former champ Casey Stoner, all in an attempt to challenge the re-throned king of motorcycle racing, Valentino Rossi. But there's more to Motorcycle Racing than Moto GP - There's the local Superbikes as well. including World, AMA (USA) and British Superbikes to fill our Sunday afternoons with glee, and hopefully get the insanity off our chests so we can go out and ride like normal human beings on our beloved bikes. So get the Akrapovich off the snowblower, dust off the couch, set the DVR, and do whatever else you do (we all have strange good luck rituals before watching our favorites do their stuff, just as they do themselves. MV Agusta Brutale 910 R

Bikes I like: MV Agusta Brutale 910 (2007)

Here's the third installment of the Bikes I Like feature at the Motorcycle Gear Store blog. And I think this time we're into dreaming, ga-ga land, for there are fewer more intimidating looking, sleek and beautiful motorcycles in the world than the MV Agusta Brutale 910. IMHO.

When I was looking for a new bike last year I had the opportunity to ride the 2006 910 (a very nice MV Agusta traditional livery silver and red 910 special edition) and that on its own was such an amazing trip along the highway that I thought I'd better put a few more installments on my life insurance policy before I considered putting that in my stable. Beautiful no doubt, but even without the R specs upgrade, the thing had wings and almost ripped my arms out of their sockets!

And I'm kind of glad because the next year the 910 came in orange and I would have kicked myself a thousand times for not waiting. Still, note to kids, this... (as pictured, in Orange - exactly like this one) is what Daddy wants for Christmas. MSRP is - just - $14,495 - Which is about half of what I gave you little dweebs in allowance this year!

For 2008 the folks at the Varese Factory in Italy lifted the horsepower to 154bph. Ay, Caramba! Very Scary Stuff. This was, as I understand it, in prep for the World Superbike Assault in 2009 (check link for racing dates and travel info). The bike's already in use in the U.S. AMA Superbike Series. For more about the 1078RR see the second video at the end of this posting.

AGV Limited Edition Rossi GP-Tech Dreamtime Helmet

OK. after the success of my recent entry about Motorcycle Helmets (Nolan N102 flip-up Modular helmet), I've realized there's a lot of folks out there looking for crash lids, for themselves for motorcycle related stocking stuffers, or at least looking to look at crash lids online. So I went "window shopping" and the nicest one I could find, well today, at least, and, yes, again, Daddy wants this for Christmas, was the AGV Limited Edition Rossi GP-Tech Dreamtime Replica Helmet. This is a replica of the Helmet Valentino Rossi wore at the Sky Australian MotoGP 2007 at Phillip Island Circuit (see my travel guide to the fantastic historic place and its wonderful museum, if you're headed there in October... see you there.). Oh, yeah, the helmet... it boast the usual Rossi Day-glo yellow, his famous racing number 46 on the chin, but with the trademark Rossi sun and moon design reinterpreted via Australian Aboriginal inspired Dreamtime graphics. The Multiple MotoGP World Champion (at every level of Grand Prix racing) is well known for mixing it up with his gear and his bike designs (I loved his Austin Powers livery). This limited edition replica racing helmet (only 300 exist, as I read it, and accurate in every detail - technical and graphical) is on my list of motorcycle stuff I want.
