I was sitting at home minding my own business a few days ago when there was a mysterious knock on the door. Naturally, I opened it, but no one was there. Just before I came back in the house, I noticed a funny silver package on the step.

It was a strange, poofy, pouchy bag with an incredible address up in the corner. Ooooh–how cool do you have to be to get a package from Kent, England? Very, I’d say.  Reminds me of Jane’s line from Pride and Prejudice to her sister Lizzy, “What news from Kent?”

But I digress…

Took me about four and a half seconds to tear that little doo-dad open and pour out…

the softest, the smushiest, the most gorgeous wool yarn I’ve ever touched in my whole life. I’m pretty sure I’m in love.

Look at these fabulous colors!! Just think of the possibilities! In fact, I’d like you to help me think of the possibilities.

For my birthday, a while back, my cute little daughter gave me a ticket to Brian Regan–one of the funniest comedians on the planet. Have you ever seen this guy? Apparently, he’s all over on cable and doing specials all the time. The best part about him–and I’m being serious now– is that he’s clean–I know, right? You are free to just sit back and laugh without anything to worry about. Ahhhh….

I must confess–I’m quite new to the idea of machine quilting. I mean, honestly, in my day quilting something meant tying yarn knots all over the darn thing till it held together. But nowadays–that’s just not good enough for these beautiful quilts. My daughter, April has made the leap and started machine quilting with her very own machine!

And get this–every…single…stitch is hand guided–no computerized patterns going on here! Each one she finishes is simply breathtaking. So much time. So much work. So much gorgeousness. Is that a word?

We might not be getting much in the way of snow–but I can tell you where it’s all going…that’s for sure.

It’s landing right smack dab on my cute boy in Siberia!

He’s been given a new assignment though. Last week he was called as an Assistant to the Mission President and he sounds pretty happy about it. He’ll travel and visit and help the other missionaries with their work or with the language–or whatever they need. They couldn’t have picked a better fellow for the job.

Besides his sweet grin–the best part of this photo is that familiar blue cube on the side of the desk. Can you see it? Seems that all the way on the other side of the world, he still has his beloved Rubix with him. I can just hear him telling the other guys to, “…mess it up for me, would ya?” so he can solve it–over and over again. The smarty pants.

Comforting to my mama-heart to know that even though he’s learning and growing and becoming who he needs to be–so far away…

all in all, he’s still my boy.

And that’s so, so nice.

Yesterday–since I was staying home from church, tending Miss Chompy Sniffles, it ended up being one of those put-your-feet-up, kick-back-in-the-chair sort of days where it kinda feels good to sit and do a little bit of, you know…

nothing.

I could have made some serious headway on the baby’s ripple blanket, but alas…

it was too much of something, to fit into the category of…

nothing.

I really thought about catching up on some light reading, but again–too important to be considered–

nothing. So they just sat there staring at me.

I thought, for a while, about baking something poofy and warm that would make the house smell like Snow White’s cottage in the forest, but it was too much trouble, and…

well, you get the picture.

There are just some times when it has to be ok to sit back and soak it all in and let everything else be big and important and necessary, on another day.

Believe me, it felt just lovely, thank you very much.

Well, I just haven’t had this much fun in a lonnnng time–and then to have the results turn out oh, soooo adorable!!  Huge, unexpected plus.

What started out yesterday as an enormous pile of granny triangles—became magically transformed…

into the sweetest little bunting I’ve ever seen in my livin’ life—with just few more stitches to link them all together.

Last week, I searched the crochet universe until just the perfect triangle caught my eye over at Crochet With Raymond. It was love at first sight I tell you!

After a few days of crocheting these fun little Grannies I found the perfect way to link them together over at Carina’s Craftblog.

I love this thing so much I can hardly stop taking pictures of it. Like having a celebrity living in the building. Now all we need is to throw a party to celebrate this sweet little work of art.

And so I can hang it up and just stare at it for a few days.
