#4 Moved into own accomodation

So our parents always look forward to us moving out dont they? Because that means they wouldn’t need to cook, clean and stress about the kids. This was the year where I actually moved into my own house. Along with Peter, Daniel, Dave and Steve who are from Switzerland (German), Jersey (Portuguese) and England respectively.

In college back in 2007 I stayed in a house as well. The difference is there was someone there to look after us, and at that time we even had a curfew (which we did not adhere to). Last year I stayed in halls on campus at University. Back then, security guards would come knocking on my door time and time again for two reasons only. Firstly being noisy, and secondly making the corridor smell of smoke. On the other hand, the nights out when we stayed on campus were epic, We would come back early in the morning so drunk and noisy, that my whole corridor hated Sergio, Peter and I. Once Peter and I destroyed the whole kitchen (just because we were drunk and bored). Funny thing is, the whole corridor was charged a fine of £0.90 due to the fact that they couldn’t put the blame on anyone.

This year though, certainly offers the best accomodation. Staying in a house means cooking and ordering your own meals, cleaning has to be done yourself, a longer walk to University (15min), a more relaxed atmosphere and the best thing about living in a house? Making as much noise as you like without any complaints.

#3 Retired from gaming

Back in 2004, I competed in my first ever major competition which was the Electronic Sports World Cup. In that competition my team Hybrid placed 3rd.

Ever since then, I have participated in several gaming competitions around the world (most in Malaysia). Competitive gaming has been an integral part of my life. I learned many things, met many friends, traveled the world and most importantly was given the chance to represent Malaysia on the international stage.

However, 2009 is the first year that I have NOT taken part in a gaming tournament ever since I started. It is pretty sad and I miss training and actually participating in those events. Some people may look at this hobby as being geeky, nerdy or whatever you want to call it. In my opinion though it is a very fun way to spend your “younger years” and meet new people.

Sometimes the feeling of winning is in explainable. (After winning WCG Malaysia 07)

#2 Longest drinking streak in my life

The first month of my holidays over the summer (June-October) was filled with a large amount of alcohol consumption that led to vomiting and several other drunken antics. I partied every-single-day for a span of 13 days I think it was. Most of this was with Hemaraj, a friend I’ve known since I was young.

That was quite a tiring experience as everyday I would come home in the wee hours of the morning. I’d end up sleeping all the way through the day. Waking up daily at an average time of 6pm. My mom would also walk into my room advising me not to consume excessive amounts of whiskey. Yes, when the clock strikes lunch time she would walk in and attempt to wake me up. To no surprise, she would walk in to a room filled with a intense smell of whisky.

Marx, Myself, Nick, Evie and XY (This was at Coco Banana, even there we enjoyed ourselves)
