Social Networking
Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn – They all have a common connection – people in business.  So, if you are in need of assistance, use these social networks to reach out to other people who have felonies and tap into their resources.  You’ll be quite surprised what other people know and they may be surprised by what you know.  Networking is one of the greatest tools a convicted felon can use.

Organize a Meet Up Group
This may seem like an odd suggestions but  you can be successful at finding a job and finding resources by simply creating your own MeetUp group.
You can create a group that is associated with people that have felonies – where you exchange ideas – but you can also create MeetUp Groups around your passions and interests.  In doing so, you’ll find that you can connect with like minded people who may offer assistance and recommendations and these people, usually, will have no church or government affiliation with whatever it is that they suggest.

Landlords often do not want to rent to convicted felons because, in many states, they are not permitted to discriminate against the types of felonies. If you have a felony conviction, it is important to keep in mind that there are housing options for you, including the ability to buy a new home and even secure grants for felons housing in the process. If you are considering the options for home ownership, one of the first questions you may be asking is whether or not you can own a HUD home. The answer to this question is most definitely. Most housing loans and grants programs will not prohibit you from owning a HUD home just because you have a felony conviction. The only issue of concern may be that you are prohibited from living in a certain county, based upon probation, parole issues, or based upon your housing limitations and college for felons limitations in your state.
