Color serves to provide a certain vibration in a design. So great was the power of color, thus providing a psychological effect on everyone who sees it. Even in medical therapy, specific colors in use to help patients heal faster, exciting right?

This time we will discuss about the psychology of color in graphic design (the example I gave would-shaped design of the website because I happened to wrestling in this area) but it does not mean the effect will vary with print or other media, the effect will essentially remain the same.

Red

Red is the color of both strong and warm. Usually used to deliver psychological effect of 'hot', 'bold', 'angry' and 'screaming'. Several studies also identify a sexy red as the color.

In the design, we can use red as an accent because it is strong. For example, black and white photo in the color red accents give it just a little can make the photo a different look.

Green
Green is the color of calm because usually associated with the environment and nature. In the design, we can use green color to give a fresh impression. And we can easily give the feel of down to earth with a combination of green and dark brown.

If the red color on top can be described as rock music with pounding hard and fast, then the green color could be described as classical music (or music meditation). So be careful blend of red and green, because it would be a bit problematic. Or just add the yolks to be a Reggae music :P

Blue

Blue is the favorite color of the men and includes a color that 'cool'. If the design world, blue is often called "corporate color" because almost all companies use blue as its main color. No surprise really, because blue is the color that includes quiet and reclusive nature.

Another effect of blue is often regarded as a sad color (blue sky at night?). Blue can also be used to reduce appetite, because it connotes with poison. So use the blue box to design a diet drug.

Yellow

Yellow is the color of a cheerful, pleasant, and I think a little 'jump'. No wonder the color yellow is identical with the toys. Yellow is also usually used to get attention from people who see our designs.

Because this is so strong yellow color, often used to get people's attention. Remember that traffic signs give the alarm? All of the dominance of yellow or red (which is still one lineage).

Purple

Purple is the color that gives the impression of spiritual wealth and wisdom. It reminds me of clothes design wizard / shaman / like in medieval times, mostly in the dominance of the color purple. Purple color is also unique because it is very rare we see in nature.

By using the color purple we can give a unique impression on our design, we use either the dominant or only as an accent only. The disadvantage is very difficult in the mix with other colors, we have to think extra color to match side by side with the color purple.

Brown

Brown is the color of the earth, giving the impression of a warm, comfortable and safe. But in addition, chocolate also gives the impression of 'sophisticated' as close to the color gold. Can imagine the impression of 'expensive' design with a combination of black and brown.

And do not forget that chocolate could also give nuance 'can count' and 'strong'. I imagine the brown color can be used in law firms as the main color of their firms.

Orange

Pink

White

Is a pure white color, no mixture of any kind. So often regarded as the colors are pure and clean effect. When we want to make a simple and minimalist design, using the color white is the right step (although not the only way).

Black

Black is the color of a dark, gloomy, eerie but elegant. I feel if any elements in place on a black background will feel better (for example, when displaying an image, or product portfolio). But not always effective in the case of typography.

Conclusion
The right color combination can provide character and vibration in a design. Color can also be used to gain the attention of people who see our designs and eventually understand the message we convey through the visual as a whole.

Finding Your First Design Job

Many young designers is hard to believe they can make a living, they found some eye-catching, interesting, they are like. Find the right First Design Job, even if it is a summer job or internship, not only to carry out an important step in your career. This is the area of exploration and learning process continues. So, you’re a college graduate … now what? It’s a surreal feeling walking across the stage in your cap and gown, picking up a diploma holder (with no diploma in it … yet) and heading out to face the world. Whether you are a recent college graduate, or just gearing up for graduation, looking for and finding your first job post-college can be an overwhelming task. ‘Where can I find a design job and how do I land it? And am I really ready for life after college?’ are probably just a couple of the many questions you are asking yourself. Finding your first design job isn’t just an important step in getting your career going – it’s also an exploration of the design field and the next step in the learning process. Here’s a tip – the key to finding the right first graphic design job is knowing what you want and what you can offer to your future employer.

Knowing What You Want.

No one can walk into your life and tell you which design path is best for you. While it may be difficult to decide, you have to honestly take time to evaluate your wants and needs and decide what you want and need out of your first job. If you know specifically what type of job you want, you will be able to find a job sooner than if you just jump into design job listings or create a generic resume. Here are a couple things you should consider when looking for jobs.

    Are you looking to expand your skill set? If you are, look for jobs that will allow you to learn the skills you feel like you are weakest in.

    Are you a ‘learn-as-you-go’ entrepreneur type? If so, you could consider starting a freelance design business.
    What are you passionate about? Find the aspect of design that makes you happiest and start looking in that area.

Once you have an idea of what you want and need in a job, it’s time to find out what jobs are out there. Start checking job listings anywhere you can find them. Weed out the jobs that don’t fit your needs and the jobs that you aren’t qualified for. Even if you aren’t qualified for a position take a few minutes to look at the job listing to see what employers are looking for; you might even get ideas for other design-related jobs you hadn’t considered before.

While you are on the job hunt, talk to your college professors and other in the design department of your university because they usually have leads on jobs or internships within the department or with local companies. Networking is huge in landing a job. Network, network, network.

Knowing What You Can Offer.

While you are primarily concerned with what you can learn and get out of a job, your future employer is mostly concerned about what you can do for him or her. So, now is a good time to evaluate your skills and writing them down.

    What software programs do you know and how well do you know each one? Are you certified with any programs?
    What niche design classes have you taken and how well did you do in them? What skills did you learn in those classes?
    Think about your past jobs. Even though the jobs may not have been in the design field, did you learn anything or develop any skills that will benefit your future career?

After you’ve decided what you want and what you can offer, it’s time to create your resume. Don’t just create one generic resume, take the extra time and create multiple resumes that are tailored to specific design jobs, employers or situations.

You’re the designer, so I don’t have to tell you this, but graphic design is a visual medium. You are almost always going to need to have a resume, but you are always going to have to supplement that resume with a portfolio. It doesn’t matter if you only have ‘student work,’ you can still create a great beginner’s graphic design portfolio. Some jobs may not require a portfolio, but it’s still a good idea to have one ready – just in case. Putting together a portfolio is also a good exercise to help you determine your current strengths and weaknesses – and know that employers are going to ask you about your strengths and weaknesses.

Looking for your first job post-college can be a long and frustrating process, but be persistent. Don’t just look at the classified ads in the newspaper. Keep re-evaluating the type of job you want. Work on building up your design portfolio and refine your resume. Network. Network. Network. And, if all the jobs you are looking at require a skill set you don’t have, consider taking a course to expand your skills.

Landing your first job is all about matching your creativity and skills with an organization’s needs. Your first job is also a very valuable learning experience – you will learn about the different ways design is practiced and what skills employers deem most important. Be persistent and you’ll find your first design job, and just know, your next job search (no matter how soon or far away that is) will be much easier.

How To Make a Batik

Maybe you frequent to the center selling clothes in a store or buy the batik store. But if you want to create your own batik model the following way. To make a batik, the equipment required are: cloth (can be made from silk, cotton or polyester blend fabrics), pencil to create batik designs, canting made of bamboo, copper-headed and bercerat or mouthed, canting it works like a pen. Canting is used to scoop out the hot liquid wax, which is used as a covering or protective material to the dye. gawangan (a place to hang cloth), candles, pots and a small stove for heating.
Step - step is as follows:

How To Write a Logo Rationale

When presenting logo concepts to a client it is often productive to have written rationales to accompany each concept. This can help you, the designer, clarify your thoughts before getting the concepts in front of your client. The rationales will help your client to better understand the concepts from your point of view (especially if you are not there in person to present the concepts to your client). In turn, this will help your client make an educated decision when picking their final logo. All that effort will also help you to better defend and explain concerns and questions that may arise during the logo revision process.

Here are some topics to consider covering when in your writing rationales.
In going through this process you may even see some areas for improvement in your concepts. If possible, run your draft rationales by a non-designer and get their feedback.

1. Symbolism: Clarify and identify the meanings behind the icons you chose to incorporate into the design. Go into as much detail as you feel necessary, the history, cultural relevance and so on.
2. Style: Why did you choose this style for the logo? Did you give it a distressed look because the mark is for an outdoors company, or is the logo clean and orderly because it’s for a closet organization company, etc.
3. Typography: Explain why you chose the typefaces used in the logo. How do they relate to the rest of the design and the company it represents?
4. Relationship: How does the concept relate to the company’s personality, goals, vision and values? Hopefully you learned a lot about the company in your creative brief process. You can read more about creative briefs in the article “The Creative Brief: Questions to Ask Before Designing a Logo”.
5. Color: Explain the color choices. Why did you choose them? What does the color represent? How

does the color choice relate to the business? Sometimes color isn’t a part of the first round of concepts, so whenever color is does get introduced it’s important to add it to your rationale. You can read more about color psychology here in the article “Color Psychology in Logo Design”.

A written rationale is a good tool for communication but don’t forget to listen to your client. Make sure you hear their opinions and questions. You likely know a lot more about design than your client, but they know their target audience and company better than you. Translate those ideas into an understanding of what those people’s problems really are. In other words So when your client says “Can we add x to the logo?” take the time to understand what it is that they are trying to accomplish with their request.
Rationale Examples

I thought it would be useful to see show some examples of rationales I have written for various logo concepts I’ve have presented to clients.
The Media Backpack Logo Concept Rationale

The Media Backpack logo portrays the spirit of the outdoors through the mountain and hiker icons. The hiker is climbing and testing his/her skills to achieve a goal. Similarly, the readers/visitors to The Media Backpack will be educating and testing themselves in order to produce the various media required by their job. They may not have all the skills they need to reach their goal, but the media backpack will be

there to help them along their arduous climb.

The clean, hard and angular lines of the ‘m’ icon and mountain compliment the typeface selection. The image of the hiker is a visual stand-in for each and every user of the site as they climb to the top of their virtual mountain.
D&D Studios Logo Concept Rationale

Because D&D Studios is a professional quality recording studio in Nashville, TN primarily targeting churches, young bands/artists that are trying to develop a demo this logo needs to stand out from the competition.

This concept explores the concept of power and electronics and their association to the recording industry. The cord and plug icon is unique and memorable among the competition and creates a playful feel to the mark. The plug icon communicates the concepts of electric or unplugged which are common terms in the music industry. The end of the plug displays the D&D monogram which ties into the “D&D Studios” below. The typography has been selected to be simple and therefore not compete with the icon.

"Comp" (a term in graphic design that refers to the original draft for submission to clients, short of the entire layout), made by hand is often used to obtain the approval of a design idea graph. In the form of sketches or doodles on a thumbnail draft of this document can also be used to generate ideas in a hybrid process (a combination of the use of computers and scratches by hand).
