Leonaidas... you sound like a liberal. Only a liberal would dismiss running a multi-million dollar enterprise as not qualifying someone for office. Being a capitalist should be considered a way of serving the community seeing capitalists actually employ people, pay taxes and give to charities. Furthermore, if you are going to claim insiders picked Burns at least get their locale right. Nobody from Pittsburgh appears to be involved.

Really? Pitts has consistently been one of the anti-earmark lawmakers according to the Club for Growth. Actually he has been the top anti-earmark lawmaker from Pennsylvania for awhile.

Looks like both of these guys have their work cut out for them. Burns needs to demonstrate that he is not Gleason's RINO lackey, and Russell has to step out of the shadow of poor judgment via his use of overpriced fundraisers. The one thing that I find ironic, though, is that at the national level when Bob Dole and John McCain ran for President they were NOT the best candidates for the job but the RINO leadership decided they should get the chance because it was their turn. Yet, at the local level, the RINOs do an about-face and ignore those who have been thru thr ringer before and seek out "fresh faces".

Approval ratings and buck will get you a cup of coffee. C'mon, dude, get with the program! Ridge set the stage for all of the problems with bloated, unconstitutional spending we are now facing. Remember the shipyard in Philly? Remember the stadiums and convention centers? The only decent budget he passed was in his first year, which capped spending; after that, he rolled over for the pigs in the legislature (Jubelirer and Brightbill come to mind) who wanted to increase spending. And don't forget Ridge was at the helm when the gasoline taxes were jacked up. Reality is RIdge was a fraud. He was and is a pure, unadulterated RINO. Need more evidence? Check out his Congressional voting record - he fought Reagan and Bush every chance he had.

I for one am glad Tom Ridge is coming back into the spotlight a bit. I think a lot of other average Pennsylvanians would agree since he was elected numerous times into congress and elected Governor twice. Also, unlike Spendell Ridge left with strong approval ratings

The very last thing I wanna do is 'look you up'. You're a bellyful just on here.
You have no idea what goes on in public schools. That's not a point to debate, I know it's true because you can't unless you work in one. Just like I wouldn't have the capacity to comment on your profession. By the way, teaching in a college is not even close to public school. If you need to be told that, this conversation is over before it began.
As far as my name? Nope, lol. If you're dumb enough to post yours, bravo. I've got little kids and the nuts are wayyy too plentiful for that info. I'm not ashamed of anything I do as a teacher, but it gets old hearing that we aren't worth what we're paid, and I got tired of eating it all the time.
You're sucking off the public teat too son, unless your 'adjunct professorship' school doesn't take public monies. Don't get me started on college professors! Talk about a waste of air and food!
Pesonally, aside from my name and address, I teach , obviously, and am a grad student in MH Counseling. I paid for all my education, except the continuing ed stuff. I'm not getting any help in my current grad school because it's not related to my discipline, so that's another 55-60k I'm shelling out for my ed. No whining from me though. I know that I'm going to make it back exponentially when I have that piece of paper.
It's good to know that you make your capitalist living totally off the private sector (nevermind the college thing), but some of us do make a career out of service to others, like teaching or counseling.
Sound like a high horse to you? Working with the sick and poor? I will give you this tidbit-I'm a special ed teacher.

Corbett has never lifted a finger on the big dollar corruption flowing from the Governor's mansion. He's prosecuting for three years of headlines a nine million dollar rip-off the taxpayer that went on over five years. AG Wagner has pointed out that big a rip off in just the sale of the Pittsburgh State Office Building. Corbett's reaction: crickets. AG Wagner pointed out the LIHEAP problems which led to the indictment by the Philly AG of 17 people. Corbett's reaction: crickets. And what about the eight hundred million to Deloitte? or Medicaid? or the legal contracts Ed gave his own law firm and his biggest donors? or the casino licenses? And don't forget the Turnpike Commission or the Luzerne mess? Corbett has been negligent in addressing any of these activities. And so has the press.

It is absolutely bizarre to think that transportation issues are more important than cheaper energy. If we don't have factories because they can't afford wind power (cost, $1.20/KWH) to run their machines, we certainly don't need to worry about transportation because there's nothing but imports to transport. Our primary needs in PA are a few new, reliable, clean nuclear reactors producing power for .02cents/kwh. Anything else that has to do with "economic development" is mindless fluff.

This ongoing feud over Russell/Burns seems so ridiculous. I think we had two good candidates. I met BR once and thought he was a nice guy. He seems a bit over the top in his remarks on defense issues, however. Second, TB is an interesting candidate. Young businessman. Has some cash. Seems to be a good speaker and very intelligent. Why not take solace in the fact that unlike in some districts, we actually had two skillful, qualified candidates who competed in a process that seemed fair. Now they can compete in the most important process, which is the May primary? I'm excited about our candidates and the future of the party if we get guys like this to step up.
