Place a blender on a slab with an eCoupled chip inside, and the blender can start whirring.
The Fulton folks have come up with an intelligent inductive coupling technology that essentially allows a device to be charged simply by putting them down on any surface. The catch is that the device has to have an inductive coupling coil and chip set imbedded within it, and the table- or countertop has to contain matching coil-fed spots. A table top would be built with pencil eraser-sized magnetic induction coil spots such as the one in the picture above, designed to charge and/or power a induction coupling-enabled device placed over one.

Etta said: “I can’t stand Beyonce! She’s going to get her ass whooped.” She than went on to slam Barack Obama for selecting Ms. Knowles to do the honors saying “You know your president, the one with the big ears, he ain’t my president, he had that woman singing for him at his Inauguration. How dare Beyonce sing my song that I been singing forever!”

Nobody seems to know why Etta was so disturbed by this, especially because Beyonce had already sang the song at Fashion Rocks, for AOL Live Sessions and in “Cadillac Records.”

The new software to be released Wednesday will enable people with mobile phones and other wireless devices to automatically share their whereabouts with family and friends.
The feature, dubbed “Latitude,” expands upon a tool introduced in 2007 to allow mobile phone users to check their own location on a Google map with the press of a button.
“This adds a social flavor to Google maps and makes it more fun,” said Steve Lee, a Google product manager.
It could also raise privacy concerns, but Google is doing its best to avoid a backlash by requiring each user to manually turn on the tracking software and making it easy to turn off or limit access to the service.

REPORT: Autopsy reveals sixth NFL player suffered from head trauma related brain damage.
Latest research indicates that damage may accumulate in the brain from repetitive head trauma, even if injuries are allowed to heal.
Chris Nowinski knows well the impact of concussions. He was a football star at Harvard before wrestling professionally with World Wrestling Entertainment.

Tom McHale, who played guard for three NFL teams from 1987 to 1995, was suffering from chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), brain damage caused by repeated head trauma, when he died from a multiple-drug overdose last year, researchers at Boston University School of Medicine announced today.

Over the past two years, researchers have examined the brains of seven former NFL players, including McHale, all of whom died by the age of 50. Six turned out to have had CTE, which is characterized by the buildup of toxic proteins that form dangerous tangles in the brain, and that at the moment, can be found only by autopsy. CTE can cause victims to lose control of their emotions and impulses and to suffer memory loss and depression and can eventually lead to dementia.

Tarino Lightbourne, 47, pleaded not guilty to charges of attempting to extort and conspiracy to extort from the movie star.
Details of the alleged plot have not been made public, but prosecutor Bernard Turner said investigators are looking for a “certain document” and police say it involved $25 million. Magistrate Carolita Bethel remanded the suspect to jail after Turner objected to bail.
Lightbourne was detained after police issued an alert that he was wanted for attempted extortion and was considered dangerous.
Earlier, several tabloids had quoted Lightbourne describing efforts to revive 16-year-old Jett Travolta after he collapsed Jan. 2 on Grand Bahama.
Sen. Pleasant Bridgewater was arrested on Thursday and charged with abetment to extort and conspiracy to extort, and was released on $40,000 bail.
She has vowed to prove her innocence but resigned Saturday from her seat in the legislature.
Another parliamentarian, Obie Wilchcombe, was detained Friday, questioned and released pending further investigation. He has not been charged.
“We don’t have anything at this stage of our investigation to implicate him,” Senior Assistant Police Commissioner Marvin Dames said Monday.

Picasa is a piece of software that runs on Windows, MAC and Linux which means that it will run on pretty much any computer, it’s free and it’s from Google. This program has been around for several years but the MAC version has just been released. Apart from being an excellent photo organiser program it is also basic photo editing program and you can not beat it’s price tag as it’s absolutely free.
The software is really easy to use, you can download it from Google, you can Google it up or simply go to picasa.google.com.
As soon as you start the program it scans your computer looking for all the photos that you have on it. The coolest thing about it is that it automatically organises all your photos in folders. You do not have to add the photos for you or do anything as the software figures it out for you. You can increase or decrease the size of thumbnails for easy preview.
Check it out, you will definitely be pleasantly surprised.

Fat busting drug is to be sold in the UK over the counter by summer 2009. For some people it’s a breakthrough.
There are a lot’s of people who do not go to the doctor and are much more likely to go to the pharmacist. Pharmacist will sell the drug and at the same time give advice on a healthy lifestyle relieving GP doctors from a lot of this work.
The drug is known as Alli or Orlistat, and works by stopping the body absorbing fat. When it goes on sale it could cost as little as £1 a day but will only be available to people with body mass index of 28 or more. Body mass index of each individual will be assessed by the pharmacist. The anti-obesity drug is controversial, some say it could end up in the wrong hands, and critics say it’s a short term fix with little long term benefit.
The question is when one stops taking this drug, however long that takes, what is in place than, to ensure that weight loss is maintained? One obviously has to adopt a different long term strategy which has to evolve around sensitive choices in diet and lifestyle.
Doctors however insist that improved diet and regular exercise remain the best way to loose weight.

They are offering tracks from it’s new EP as free downloads and encouraging fans to share them with their friends. Sounds straight forward enough but Groove Armadas latest distribution plan also amounts to a sophisticated form of viral marketing, as it’s part of pioneering sponsorship deal with rum maker Bacardi.
How it works? You basically go to a website BLiveShare.com, register with some basic details and you will get the first track. Than you are encouraged to share that track with as many people as possible. With more people you share it the more songs you get. If you do 2000 shares you will end up with the whole EP.
Financial details of their deal with Bacardi have not been disclosed but it seems that this king of marketing is tailor made for the modern media environment. Consumers are avoiding adverts and they want to engage with brands that represent something and mean something to them.

Advertises are working hard to do something that is outside the traditional advertising formula, trying to grab peoples attention and excite them at the same time, with the final goal to convert them.
With the music industry in transition and brands looking for new ways to reach hard to reach consumers this could be a model we see more of in the future.
