Father’s Office Chef Sang Yoon Debuts Tiny’s Burger at South Coast Plaza

Chef Sang Yoon, chef and proprietor of the celebrated Father's Office gastropubs in Los Angeles, is bringing his most anticipated new concept to Orange County, and South Coast Plaza lands the debut. Tiny's Burger opens this Monday, June 15.

The concept lives on Level 1 near Carousel Court and brings together an Americana burger stand and a konbini-style snack shop under one roof. The name is a tribute to Yoon's late Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, a famously opinionated dog whose uncompromising personality apparently shaped the whole venture. The space leans into a playful outdoor feel brought indoors, nodding to the classic American burger stand while leaning global with its snack shop component.

The menu is a collaboration between Yoon and Chef Nanor Harboyan (Helms Bakery, Destroyer), and it does not play it safe. The signature burger is a 4 oz. dry-aged beef patty dressed with Tiny's sauce, a blend of gochujang, ssamjang, ketchup and mustard.

The Tokyo Dog is a 10-inch Nathan's all-beef hot dog topped with bonito flakes, furikake, kewpie mayo and sweet soy. Other standouts include Miso Mac n Cheese with American and sharp cheddar cheeses plus white and red miso, an All Beef Chili finished with Chinese chili crisp, Salt and Vinegar Tots and Pineapple Dole Whip.

The konbini shop carries house-made grab-and-go sandos and salads alongside snacks and drinks sourced from around the world.

Tiny's Burger is open seven days a week. Hours are Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. South Coast Plaza, 3333 Bristol St., No. 1000, Costa Mesa.

The Curated Life Brings French Charm to Laguna Beach

Three years in the making, The Curated Life Shoppe quietly landed in Laguna Beach this past April, and it was worth every moment of the wait.

Owner Michelle Trotter spent years traveling to France, handpicking products on each trip and putting them into storage until she found the right space to present them. She was specific about what that space needed to be. "I just knew that the base of the interior had to be white to highlight the beauty of each product," she says.

The result is a boutique destination filled with one-of-a-kind home goods, tabletop pieces, textiles and lifestyle products sourced directly from France and across Europe. Think French turbans, scarves and velvet pillows, hand-painted pillows, beach towels with matching duffle bags, Turkish towels and robes, wine glasses, 24-karat gold-rimmed cups and saucers, and soaps that might just replace your entire skincare routine.

The products have stories behind them, and Trotter sought them out intentionally. As she traveled and sourced, she listened for the makers who lit up when they talked about their craft. It was almost always women. "It wasn't just trial and error," she says. "It was apprenticeship and intention in crafting."

Two items have her particular attention. Her favorite beach bag and weekender, available in shades she calls mango and mojito, comes from a small-shop artisan in Toulouse who has scaled to meet growing demand without sacrificing quality. Then there are the soaps from Marseilles, which she stocks because they transformed her own skincare routine. "Allow such an indulgence without the flight to France," she says.

Trotter's love affair with French culture started in her teenage years, flipping through fashion magazines and gravitating toward the avant-garde color and design of the 1980s. Decades later, she traded holiday gifts one year for a family trip to Europe and never looked back. The experience became the foundation for her future travels, friendships built across the Atlantic, and eventually the inspiration for one of her children to settle in Paris permanently.

What she brings back from France is harder to bottle than any product. "When in France, I am always at peace, moving quietly, absorbing the ease of the people around me," she says. She describes sitting in a friend's brasserie, watching regulars place a coin on the counter each morning without a word, just a nod. That kind of easy exchange is the spirit she's after at The Curated Life.

Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

The Curated Life is at 1540 S Coast Hwy in #104 Laguna Beach. 949.818.5433

Founder Lyn immigrated from Vietnam with big dreams and quickly faced the realities of long commutes, tight budgets, and shoes that never seemed to stay on her feet. Her mother came up with a practical fix using a simple elastic band, and that small idea eventually became the inspiration for LYNKS.

Today, LYNKS transforms that original concept into a stylish handmade accessory designed to help shoes fit more securely while adding a fashionable detail to your look. The patented “8 LOOP” design gently wraps around the foot for a more comfortable fit and works with everything from heels and flats to sandals and sneakers.

Available in prints, glitter, solids, and playful patterns, LYNKS lets you change the look of your shoes while making them easier to wear throughout the day. Each piece blends comfort, function, and style in a way that feels thoughtful and personal.

It is a smart idea with a meaningful story behind it, created by a local founder who turned a real-life challenge into something both practical and fashionable.

Learn more and shop styles at lynksco.com.

Champagnes Kitchen Expands to Huntington Beach

After nearly four decades serving the Newport Beach community, Champagnes Kitchen has officially opened its new Huntington Beach location, the first expansion for the family-owned restaurant since the original debuted in 1989.

Situated in the former IHOP space at Main Street and Olive, the 3,950-square-foot restaurant brings the brand's approachable service, elevated comfort food and family-friendly atmosphere to the heart of downtown Huntington Beach. At 1,000 square feet larger than the Newport Beach original, the new space gives the team plenty of room to grow.

The opening caps nearly a year of lease negotiations and roughly four and a half months of intensive construction and renovation. Working alongside longtime commercial builder Slater Builders and Steiner Studios, the Tobey family completely reimagined the aging space from the ground up, modernizing it while preserving the welcoming neighborhood feel that has long defined the Champagnes Kitchen experience.

Heading up the new location is a leadership team with deep roots in Orange County hospitality. Executive Chef Daniel Cherri, formerly of Lounge Group, leads the back-of-house culinary program. General Manager and Bar Manager Jordan Ramirez brings eight years of experience from Playa Mesa, where he built a strong background in operations, hospitality and team leadership. The connection runs deeper than the org chart: owner Matt Tobey and Cherri go back several years to their time working together at Wild Goose in Costa Mesa, and Ramirez and Cherri previously crossed paths through Lounge Group. It is a team with real chemistry, both personally and professionally.

Together, they are aiming to make Champagnes Kitchen Huntington Beach a go-to all-day dining destination for locals and visitors, with an emphasis on quality ingredients, approachable pricing and genuine hospitality.

The menu balances lighter fare with heartier options. Standouts include the Kale Super Food Salad, tossed with quinoa, apples, fennel, dried cranberries, roasted pumpkin seeds, candied almonds, mint, almond cheese and champagne vinaigrette, and the Hot Father Sandwich, piled high with griddled mortadella, capicola, salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, pepperoncini, Italian dressing and mayo on a fresh baguette.

Dinner brings dishes like Southern Fried Chicken with whipped potatoes, garlic green beans and chicken au jus, alongside a Pan Seared Rib Eye with sauteed broccolini, medjool dates, almonds and mint chimichurri. Save room for dessert: pastry chef Winnona, a CIA graduate, turns out lemon and hazelnut chocolate tarts, beignets and fresh cookies, including a Salted Toffee cookie worth skipping nothing else for.

With a wide variety of gluten-free and vegan options, the restaurant was designed to welcome everyone, whether guests are stopping in for a family breakfast, a casual lunch, date night cocktails or a solo meal near the beach.

Champagnes Kitchen - Huntington Beach is at Main Street & Olive Avenue, at 200 Main St. Huntington Beach.

Champagnes Kitchen – Newport Beach is at 1260 Bison Ave Unit D3, Newport Beach.
