While I was working with Michelle on her wedding day at Clouds estate I noticed a great angle through the doorway, it had a certain feel to it.

Normally I’m not big on lots of posing, rather opting for a more natural feel but in this case I asked Michelle to pose as you see in the image.

To be honest I knew there was something interesting happening but I really had not recognized it. I pulled the raw image into Photoshop started experimenting seeing where the image would “take me” that’s when it dawned on me that I’d seen this type of pose in so many Victorian images of yesteryear…

The image is not very 2010 but it certainly came out beautifully, thanks Michelle!

This is actually yesterday’s photo of the day, myself and Sarah my assistant did Nick and Janine’s wedding at the beautiful Bartholomeus Klip Farm Guesthouse in Hermon (Western Cape)

We ended up returning home much later than I had originally anticipated (it was a great wedding!) so I put potd on the back burner.

I often say sunsets are a dime a dozen, not because they are not stunning but precisely the opposite, because they are ordinarily stunning.

Every now and again you get the exception, the Oscar winning sunset!

I just love a sense of humor! When David and Denise were running the confetti gauntlet one of David’s groomsmen thought a proper gauntlet it should be! He threw a handful of confetti with such force I literally heard it “splat!” against David’s face!

Judging by David’s reaction afterward this was not a very surprising move, all the guys were very close and I’m guessing this is just one of those things they do to each other.

It could have been worse there are all kinds of variations of confetti these days some a heck of a lot worse than a handful of rose petals

Well that’s what came to mind anyway

This is Michelle putting on her wedding dress when you’ve had your makeup expertly put on and need to put on a wedding dress… (as we do)  this is how you go about it… delicately!

Okay so perhaps I’m biased but you can’t argue that is a rather impressive place to have a wedding photo!

Working with Dion and Bianca as their wedding photographer on Saturday, we found this great spot close to camps bay, I put  a polarizer on my 17-40mm and without trying particularly hard managed to take this photo… I wish I could say it’s because I’m brilliant but lets face it with a view like that it’s hard to mess it up!

No wonder Cape Town is such a popular tourist destination, I live here but there are times that seeing views like this feel like the first time!

Any landscape photographer will tell you that you get perfect days for photos, where everything seems brighter, clearer, better!

I had just done a couple shoot with Dion and Bianca and was on my way back to the Radisson Hotel for the reception, we had chosen to go over the neck rather than beachside because of the traffic.

I noticed just how crisp and clear camps bay and the 12 apostles were…. I slammed on breaks and I’m sure my assistant (Sarah) must have wondered what the heck was wrong…

If there is one piece of advice I can give any aspiring photographer, – “Shoot it now! The chances of you getting the same shot another time is remote”

One of the things I love about this job is the variety it gives, I’m often asked “but don’t you get bored of weddings” nope not at all!

This Sunday I was asked by wedding co-ordinator Kirsty Marmarellis to shoot part of a wedding from a helicopter of all things, the couple were having their reception on the Tigger 2 Royale , a state of the art cruise boat , they specifically wanted a shot of the cruise boat with the 2010 soccer stadium and table mountain in the back, a zodiac might have sufficed but a helicopter sufficed muuuuuch better!!

The pilots name was Garth and he gunned it, my poor Tiffany in the back just about died of a heart attack… I loved it!! Thanks Garth!!

I got this pic a few years ago at Niel and Robyn’s wedding, we were doing the photoshoot when one of the bridesmaids casually said, you might want a photo of this… I did indeed!

Sights like this at a wedding are not actually that uncommon I’m quite used to seeing bridesmaids fussing around the bride like this

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of shooting at Molenvlient wine estate! I have to say this is a magnificent venue, there are a gazillion spots to shoot and when you have run out of those there are a gazillion more!

In case you are wondering this is not a paid advertisement

The event was Eric and Susan’s wedding, a little larger than intimate (about 40 people) but just as personal. At a picnic I’d been invited to 2 days before Susan had mentioned she preferred unposed wedding photography which is my one of my specialties, another one of my specialties is recognizing when someone is able to “work” the camera even when they themselves were unaware of it in the first place, enter Susan!

I asked her to “Dance” down the vine like a giddy teenager, when I looked at some of the images afterward my jaw dropped, breathtaking and I’m not talking about the view!!

I got this during the cake cutting ceremony when I worked with James and Sonja at their Buitenverwachting Wedding in the Southern Suburbs here in Cape Town.

Last night I did a huge wedding at Molenvliet so I was not able to get to my photo of the day, I’ll be making that up tomorrow
