Patriots offensive tackle Matt Light has missed three games with a knee injury, and rookie Sebastian Vollmer has more than hold his own against pass-rushers like Kyle Vanden Bosch and Joey Porter. This week, he rumbles with electric Dwight Freeney and the Colts say. So what will happen when Light returns? "We'll deal with the situation when he comes back," Belichick told said after his news conference yesterday. "I don't know when that's going to be. In all honestly, too many good players, not a problem. Not enough, that's the problem. Both guys have showed they can play that position very competitively, and we'll deal with it when it's an option. The last couple weeks, it's hasn't been option." Interestingly, Belichick did not say Light - the 50th Anniversary left tackle and a two-time Pro Bowler - would be handed his job back.

Washington's offensive line is arguably the worst in the NFL, and former Pro Bowl left tackle Chris Samuels was put on IR earlier this season with a career-threatening neck injury. Stephon Heyer has struggled on the left side and has also recently been banged up.

[Raiders] Raiders Emerge Healthy After The Bye Week

The Oakland Raiders are finally healthy, at least on offense. Running back Darren McFadden, wide receiver Chaz Schilens, left guard Robert Gallery and right tackle Cornell Green returned to practice Monday and are expected to play against the Kansas City Chiefs this week. That would be a much-needed morale boost for an offense that has scored just six touchdowns in eight games and ranks 31st in total yardage. "This is the healthiest this football team has been, there's no question, particularly on offense," Raiders coach Tom Cable said. "In terms of having them all back and into sync and the energy in the huddle and all those things, it was good to have them back."

It was filed on behalf of a former employee of a Lake Tahoe resort who claims Roethlisberger sexually assaulted her in his hotel room in 2008.

San Diego traded Eli Manning, taken with the first pick, to New York in exchange for Philip Rivers, the fourth pick, and selections that were used to take linebacker Shawne Merriman and kicker Nate Kaeding. "The draft thing, it didn't weigh into my process going in, but it is there," Rivers said. "Anytime you're playing a team with a quarterback that's won a Super Bowl, that's the caliber of player Eli is, it's fun. Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, it's fun to play against those great players." After connecting with Vincent Jackson on an 18-yard, game-winning touchdown with less than a minute left in the game, Rivers sprinted down the field in celebration. "Those authentic spazz-outs are the most fun," Rivers said. "This ranks up there, the playoff win in Indy [in 2008] and this one. It is a little special because you know that link's always going to be there."

We gave the ball back too much, and that turned the game." Schwartz was then asked if Stafford took a step back in his development. "I agree in some part, but we also didn't do a good job of helping our quarterback out. We had catchable balls again. There were chances to move the chains. Where I think he took a step back, a point he had passed earlier in the season, were the interceptions where he was too aggressive down the field," Schwartz said. "Why aren't you checking the ball down? Why aren't you making a safer play?"

Chargers center Nick Hardwick is expected back this week, which will greatly improve the line's communication and recognition. While Scott Mruczkowski has steadily improved, he is in his first season playing center. One positive that came out of Hardwick injuring his ankle in the season opener is the Chargers found out Mruczkowski is a good fit at center and a quality backup but he lacks Hardwick's athleticism and veteran savvy.

A week after Ed Reed blasted Denver's Knowshon Moreno to force a big fumble, the Ravens safety was conspicuous for three missed arm tackles in a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. Although it was an uncharacteristic performance for Reed, coach John Harbaugh said he doesn't believe it was the result of Reed playing hurt. "I think he's tackled very well this year, up until this game," Harbaugh said at his weekly news conference Monday. "Obviously, the hit against Denver was as good a tackle as you're ever going to see. From my understanding, the neck is as good as it's been in two years, but I think it's a factor. But it's not a dangerous type thing where he's at risk, or he wouldn't be playing." Reed, who has played the past season and a half with a nerve impingement in his neck, whiffed on three would-be tackles, twice against wide receiver Laveranues Coles on a run of 8 yards and a pass of 32. "He's worked extremely hard in the weight room," Harbaugh said. "He's as muscled up as he's been since we've been here in the last two years. So I think Ed's worked really hard to get himself in position to play really well. I'm sure he's disappointed with those three tackles. Those three tackles are tackles you normally see him make."

[Packers] Packers President Disappointed But Hopeful For Team's Chances

Packers President Mark Murphy said Monday that he left disappointed in the way the season has gone but confident enough in the team's structure that it could bounce back from consecutive losses that dropped its mark to 4-4. "Obviously the loss to the Vikings at home (Nov. 1) was an emotional loss," he said. "It was, I think, disappointing for our fans, and the loss yesterday was disappointing. And it was for us. Everybody in the organization felt it. I think we'll bounce back. I'm hopeful and expect that we'll make the changes that we need to end up having a successful season." Rather than act now, he said it's better for him to sit back and let things play out before making any judgments about the football operation. He said he would do as he did last year in his first season as president and CEO and wait to see the final outcome before conducting a review. "The goal is we want to win games and championships," Murphy said. "Right now, we're not where we want to be. But I've been around the NFL long enough that a lot can happen in half a season. I've seen it both ways - teams that start out great and fade and teams that start out poorly and come on at the end. The right thing is to wait and do a thorough evaluation at the end of the season."

''For me, it was a statement of my will and determination,'' Edwards said Monday. ''It's a new attitude I have playing football. Being in a place where I'm happy and comfortable, that's the kind of effort and desire that I have for this team. ''Those are the plays that I want to continue to make to show these guys that I belong and that I'm happy I'm here. I really like this situation. I like the organization from top-to-bottom. [Giants] Giants LB Gerris Wilkinson's Injury Could Be Season Ending

Linebacker Gerris Wilkinson dislocated his right wrist during the Giants' 21-20 loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday, and his season may be over. According to the Giants, Wilkinson underwent surgery this morning to repair the dislocation at the Hopsital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. According to the team, the "normal recovery time for the surgery is 6-8 weeks." With the bye week, the Giants have eight weeks left in the regular season and the news was released after Tom Coughlin's conference call with the media, so he wasn't asked if he intends to put Wilkinson on season-ending injured reserve but even if he does, that move likely wouldn't be made until after the bye week.

The NFL has triggered an evaluation process under the personal conduct policy for Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable to determine whether he needs mandatory counseling related to any issues stemming from recent allegations, according to sources familiar with the league's review. As of now, logistics are being communicated for a timetable in which Cable will be evaluated by independent doctors, the sources said. The league's review is primarily focused on the training camp incident in which assistant coach Randy Hanson said Cable assaulted him because it prompted a criminal investigation.

[Lions] Calvin Johnson Denies Rift With Matthew Stafford

During the Detroit Lions' 32-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, television cameras caught rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford on the sideline saying something to receiver Calvin Johnson, who ignored Stafford and turned away. Several sources who were on the sideline said Stafford approached Johnson later in the game and smoothed things over. The situation was apparently serious enough for Lions head coach Jim Schwartz to investigate the matter and talk to both players. "Frustrated with the loss. If we win, all of that's out the window,'' Johnson said. "There's no problem with us, people are just blowing it out of proportion.''

Sammy Morris (knee) was seen walking in the Patriots' locker room without any "discernible" limp on Monday, according to the Boston Globe. Morris hasn't carried the ball since Week 5. In his absence, Laurence Maroney has done a semi-decent job of solidifying the position for the Pats. If Morris returns this weekend, expect the pair to be involved in some kind of time share.

[Ravens] Ravens K Steve Hauschka Doesn't Earn Vote Of Confidence

Ravens coach John Harbaugh didn't offer a strong vote of confidence to Steve Hauschka a day after the kicker missed his second straight fourth-quarter kick. Asked if the Ravens are ready to replace Hauschka, Harbaugh said Monday, "We're not ready to make any kind of announcement on that. We think Steve's going to be a really good kicker in the NFL. [We're] disappointed with that kick and I think Steve is too. He can kick that ball a lot better. It was not a good swing. We're not ready to say we don't think he's going to be a good kicker in the NFL yet." It was interesting to note that Harbaugh repeated that Hauschka would be a good kicker "in the NFL" and not specifically with the Ravens. Hauschka is struggling this season to replace Matt Stover, who had been the only placekicker in the Ravens existence.

[NFL] NFL To Take No Further Action Against RB Larry Johnson

The NFL will not add to Larry Johnson's punishment for making anti-gay remarks on his Twitter account or to reporters in the Chiefs locker room. The Chiefs suspended Johnson for two weeks _ one week without pay _ for his actions, and released him on Monday. According to NFL senior vice-president Greg Aiello, that was sufficient. "The club took disciplinary action in this matter,and we determined it was appropriate," Aiello told The Star in an e-mail.

[Rams] Rams Safeties Craig Dahl, David Roach Fined $5,000 Each

Backup safeties Craig Dahl and David Roach both were fined $5,000 by the NFL for unnecessary roughing penalties in the fourth quarter of the St. Louis Rams' Nov. 1 game against Detroit. Roach was fined for unnecessarily striking an opponent who was away from the play on a Detroit punt with 7 minutes left in the game. Dahl was fined for unnecessarily striking an opponent with his forearm on a Detroit pass play with 1:21 to play. (There was no yardage markoff against the Rams on this play because of offsetting penalties.)

[Bengals] Bengals WR Chris Henry Has Surgery On Broken Arm

Bengals receiver Chris Henry will miss the rest of the season after having surgery Monday on his broken left forearm. He was hurt on his only catch Sunday, landing on his back while cornerback Fabian Washington made the tackle and came down on his arm. Henry said after the game that he could tell the arm was broken when he looked at it. "He was excited to play yesterday," coach Marvin Lewis said. "I don't know that I've ever seen him that excited to play, and it's unfortunate he got hurt. You could tell he felt good after the time off and getting his legs back and under him."

[49ers] Bears Had Chance To Land Coach Mike Singletary And Passed

After a decade out of the game, Mike Singletary and his wife, Kim, decided the time was right for him to pursue a coaching career. Understandably, he made contact with the Chicago Bears to see if the organization would be interested, so Singletary, a Hall of Fame linebacker with the Bears, called then-Bears coach Dick Jauron as a courtesy. As he recalled today during his weekly press conference, Singletary told Jauron, "I'm not asking for a job, but I'm telling you this year or in the very near future I will be coaching. (I) don't know where and don't know when." Jauron responded, "Mike, let me get back to you and see what's happening here.'"

[Raiders] Raiders DT Tommy Kelly Missing From Practice

The Raiders began practice at something much closer to full strength Monday, although defensive tackle Tommy Kelly was not present. Kelly was not listed as injured or ill during last week's bye week practice sessions. The Raiders signed defensive tackle William Joseph Monday after flying him in last Friday.

[Browns] Blackout A Possibility For Browns, Ravens MNF Game

The Browns have a "a few thousand tickets'' remaining for next Monday night's game against the Ravens on ESPN, and the possibility of a blackout remains, according to Browns spokesman Neal Gulkis. The deadline to sell the remaining tickets is Friday at 8:30 p.m. Gulkis said it's premature to say whether or not the Browns would purchase the remaining tickets.
