What a little doll! And I'm always amazed that babies learn intonation before they conquer the actual words, which it sounds like she's doing on the songs.

My son is 10 months and definitely has allergies. He's had a runny nose and junky cough since his first cold after starting daycare in December. But we've since discovered (by a scratch test at the allergist - long story - he had a reaction to eggs which is why we were there) that he's allergic to our cats, too. And we now observe that when he's out of the house for a bit of time, his nose runs a whole lot less.

Not suggesting it's pet dander for you, just that I don't think she's too young, by any means. (We're going to send my cats to live with my parents - very sad, sigh.)

We have some Zyrtec but haven't used it yet. One of the allergy lists I just joined has had a discussion about possible behavioral side effects from Zyrtec. (Tantrums, turning devil-children, etc..) I asked our pediatrician about it and she said that some kids definitely do have bad behavioral side effects from it, but the only way to know is to try it. Just something to watch out for..

Look at it this way: if she does adopt the blankie as her lovey, at least you have something that can comfort her at the doctor's office, playground, etc. J has never adopted anything (and doesn't look likely to do so) and we've sometimes wished he would.

Also, we would totally be out strolling if it were 58 degrees. In fact, we've been out playing in the yard when it's been in the 40s. I guess that's the difference between this side of the Mason-Dixon Line and that side!

Oh, and absolutely pick your battles. It's the only way. :-)

My family discovered I had learned how to read (at 3) when my aunt, tired of reading the Sunday comics to me, said, "You read them to ME". And I did. Beware the amazing sponge brains of smart children! :)
