I came here with a dream, thinking it would be easy to achieve if I just went through the motions.

Now everything has changed. Years have passed and even though I still want the same things, the authorities haven’t deemed me worthy.

So I’m supposed to be flexible; I’m supposed to find a way to have justified making all the choices I’ve made over the past years, all the sacrifices, all the identifications for someone I can’t be anymore.

and all of this time I could have been on the path to something different; something easier.

I’m terrified of having to find something new to aspire to. I’m terrified that I won’t ever find something I’m good at.

And I’m afraid of telling anyone how I feel.

When I was young, my white caucasian friends teased me (I’m Iranian) because I was hairy and dark. It has caused me to hate body hair more than anything in my life.
