Property at a Glance: Seaport RV Resort

Located along a picturesque pond in Mystic, Connecticut, the family-friendly Seaport RV Resort is a little different than most campgrounds. Mystic, Connecticut: Seaside City with Historic Charm

The small, seaside village of Mystic exudes New England charm. Trisected by the Mystic River, Pequotsepos River, and Quiambaug Cove, the town has been an important seaport for many centuries, which is chronicled and celebrated at Mystic Seaport. Here, you can explore a re-created 19th-century village and the world’s last surviving wooden whaleship, the Charles W. Morgan. The interactive shipyard exhibit gives visitors a chance to see what it was like to work in this industry—performers demonstrate maritime skills and perform old seafaring songs. You can even go sailing for real: captain a rowboat or sailboat, or cruise down the Mystic River aboard Sabino, the seaport’s coal-fired steamboat.

Just down the road from the seaport is Olde Mistick Village, which features shops and seafood restaurants designed in the likeness of a colonial New England village circa 1720. Also in the village is Mystic Aquarium, which houses African penguins, New England’s only beluga whales, and Ziggy Star, a rescued northern fur seal. Across the Mystic River is another kind of attraction: the casual pizza shop Mystic Pizza, which served as the setting for the 1988 Julia Roberts film of the same name. Grab a slice before exploring the many surrounding art galleries peppered throughout downtown Mystic.
