How often you forget to do things? Do you miss deadlines due to your busy schedule or you completely overlook the important tasks? If the answer is yes to any of these questions then you need to have a “To Do List Software” in your life. The best way to organize and manage your tasks is with to do list software also known as task software.

To do list software gives many advantages over to-do list on papers. With a to-do list software on your computer, you can easily create new tasks and sub tasks, edit them, organize them, sort them filter them, group them with tags and tabs, repeat them with regular intervals, set a reminder on them, prioritize them and much more.

When you will use to do list software on your computer you will: -

Never forget important tasks.

Won’t rely on those bundles of papers.

Would be easily able to prioritize your tasks.

Reduce your tensions.

Always be on time.

Considered more trustworthy.

Focus on what exactly needs to be done.

I get around 150 emails a day. Of those 15 are actionable – 20 of them are informative, and 100 are approximately not useful.

Here’s my daily routine that I try to adhere to! I am only 50% successful in following this though.

Come into work – and go through all emails that are unread. I read from most recent to oldest – the reason being that I want to catch the most recent item on the thread rather than replying prematurely.

For every actionable item – I create an Outlook task and set a due date if the task is not immediately completable. If it is a short term task, I do it right then.

Once all my emails are read – I look at my outlook tasks and review them. I don’t go from the top to bottom, I usually take ones based on priority. Sometimes I will fall into a trap and avoid an action I know I need to complete.

I try to avoid checking emails except once an hour – I need to be somewhat response though since urgent situations do come into my email which require response time in minutes.

I try and work task one by one – it keeps me much calmer and focussed.

I wrote a few weeks ago about my aim to totally revamp my home office and make it a truly productive home office . Well, I just thought I would provide an update as to where I am with this. After deciding to proceed, I removed everything out of my home office and I was amazed with how much clutter I had accumulated over the years. There was no way that I was going to move all of this back into my new office. I removed my wall units and filled the walls to make it a clear canvas! I then had the walls painted and bought a new carpet.

I’ve been a fan of Google’s Calendar feature for a few years, as well as a user of Gmail for all of my email needs since before it came out of beta testing. Google recently answered one of my personal productivity “wish list” items with its launch of a new “Tasks” management system. The Tasks, available from Google Labs, enables you to add items to a virtual “to do” list, assign due dates, and document details in notes. The feature even gives “type A” personalities like me the satisfaction of checking a box when you’ve completed a task and seeing it crossed off your list.

This post is part of series of posts on the Getting Things Done (”GTD”) productivity system that Larry is writing for top legal blogs this week. In our GTD for lawyers series so far we’ve discussed the basics of GTD, and introduced important concepts. We looked at writing your to-dos as “Next Action” items, and aggressively capturing all “open loops” (incomplete items). Now it’s time to start looking at organizing and prioritizing.

And I’m halfway done with work before three days off (I had to work two days and one of them is done!) Actually, speaking of work, it was a fairly GOOD night. I was all caught up fairly early. No major issues. I was a little nervous because as I was walking into work, a black cat crossed my path . It was the strangest thing! I was walking towards the hospital from the parking lot and I saw a black

Time is a funny thing. It can fly, run out, and be up. It can be spent, killed, and passed. It will tell and it is money. With all of these amazing things time does, people never seem to actually have any of it!! People seem to think that if you get more done in a day, you simply have more “free” time than they do.

After a long day of working, it is necessary for people to unwind with some kind of relaxing activity. Each individual has their own idea of a relaxing set of activities, but most people agree on what is relaxing and what is not. There are many complex ways to relax, but an easy method of relaxation involves just thinking. If you are in a comfortable position and setting, taking a long time to think about your situation and life in general can be quietly stimulating.

They can also kill well meaning attempts at implementing project management. People usually get tripped up by making task lists overly detailed, trying to map every single step in a process.

“Structure is now the big fetish for Tai Chi and other internal training. But that’s taking the finger for the moon because any structure is tension, while the whole point of the training is to shed tension and relax. It’s true that in the early stages, a few straight-forward postural basics are used to prime the pump and set the stage. But those structural basics are a form of (controlled) tension, so even that is playing with fire.
