Now that I'm no longer living an infant's world, I'd like to go back to Hawaii to actually enjoy it. The fact that Hawaii is always warm and is made up of mostly beaches has already won me over. But judging by statements made on MacPokerOnline.com, I would guess that Poker, along with other card and casino games, are not easily available on Macs. Because if they were, I think this website would be just another plain old Poker website, without the emphasis on Macs. So apparently Mac users have a hard time accessing card and casino games, thus why MacPokerOnline.com exists. Mac Poker Online has a nice, clean feel to it. The website itself is well put together, with an easy navigation and news updates. There are very few ads (if you've ever been on MySpace, you'll cherish this fact), all of which pertain to online Poker and other casino games. Mac Poker Online has many types of online Poker rooms, of which include download, no download, and PC emulator. Currently, the featured Poker room is Pacific Poker. Mac Poker Online also features extensive reviews of online Poker websites. Mac Poker Online seems to be your one stop for everything Poker for Mac users. So if you own a Mac and love to play online games like Poker, head on over to MacPokerOnline, where playing online games is made easy for Mac users. Yeah, I wouldn't believe myself either. That is, until I came across Bid4Prizes.com. Bid4Prizes is a new twist on the Sweepstake and traditional online auction industries. Instead of bidding the highest price for an item in an auction whereas the highest bid wins, on Bid4Prize, the lowest unique bid wins. A unique bid is a bid amount in which only one person has bid. So for example, lets say you bid 3 cents on an item in an auction on Bid4Prizes. If no one else has placed a bid for 3 cents and each bid under 3 cents (2 cents and 1 cent) either has not been placed or has multiple bids by the time the auction ends, you win the auction. Sound confusing? Here is an image explanation I found on the website that best describes how the bidding process works on Bid4Prizes:

The best part of it is that you don't even have to pay what you bid! That's right, no matter if you win an auction for $0.01 or $1,000, you pay nothing (*cough* except shipping and handling *cough*)! I don't quite understand why they would have you place monetary bid amounts if you pay nothing. But hey, you can't argue with Free gifts, right? They even have instant win games in which you can instantly win a Cash prize of $10,000. And everything is free. Membership is free. Bidding is free. All auction prizes, all free (*cough* except shipping and handling *cough*). So unless you don't like free cash and prizes, or are just buried in immense wealth that you don't need free cash or prizes, then head on over to Bid4Prizes.com and try your luck!

Oh yeah, and referencing back to the Scion xB mentioned at the beginning of this post, it is currently up for auction at Bid4Prizes.com. Place the lowest unique bid and it's all yours, for free (*cough* you should already know *cough*).

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://gtsrantings.blogspot.com/2007/04/scion-xb-classy-cool-and-free.html' title='Scion xB - Classy. The job was located in Alaska (don't ask me why a job in Alaska was being advertised in an Illinois newspaper), but free room and board was being provided. I would've just had to have found my own form of transportation to get there. Sheena, also interested in the job, suggested that we fly there, but I suggested that we drive. Sheena and I both love to travel, so I thought it would be a wonderful experience for us. So anyway, she proceeded to ask, "Greg, how would we be able drive there? How do you expect us to drive over water?" Ok now I've been taking Social Studies classes for as long as I can remember, but I don't recall having to travel across any great bodies of water to get to Alaska from Illinois. So I asked her what the hell she was talking about. That's when she said, "Isn't Alaska an island in the Pacific Ocean?" I laughed. I cried. I spilled my pop! So I explained to her that Alaska is connected to Canada, and not an island in the Pacific Ocean. But no, she didn't want to believe me. She then proceeded to prove to me that Alaska is an island in the Pacific Ocean. That's when she showed me this map:

I laughed. I cried. I spilled my pop, again! So I showed her a map of the whole continent of North America, pointed out Alaska to her, and explained to her that the reason some maps have Alaska placed right next to the United States is to fit all 50 states on a U.S. map.

If you ask me, I'd have to say that this is scientific proof that men are not the only idiots inhabiting this planet!

Having Trouble Finding Your Soul Mate?

Finding your soul mate can be difficult at times. Some people are lucky enough to find their soul mate in school or living down the street. But if your soul mate is living in another state, country, or even continent, how will you ever find him or her? Luckily we're in the age of online dating. There are now numerous places online where you can create a profile and upload pictures of yourself, and within days get matched up with other singles that possess all of the criteria you are looking for. The down side though is that these online dating websites may charge you anywhere from $20-$50 a MONTH, and there are no guarantees. It could take months or even years to find that one person you are in search of. You may not even find him or her at all. So shouldn't something that doesn't exactly have a solid guarantee, at least be free? JustSayHi.com believes so, which is why they charge nothing! That's right, JustSayHi is one of the very few, if not only, websites that offer free online dating. It takes only minutes to sign up and create a profile about yourself and browse through thousands of profiles of other singles who may be looking for you! And best of all, it's free! So you can get started today without worrying about having to sacrifice something else; because a monetary value shouldn't be placed upon finding your soul mate. So good luck!

I Think It's About Time That I Introduce Myself To The Internet World Of 2007

I've made a vow to myself for this year: To introduce myself to the internet world of 2007. What do I mean by that, you ask? Well let me explain...

I've been into using computers and the internet for as long as I can remember. And I usually tried to stay up to date with the ongoings of the internet world. Back when I was 11 (circa 1999), I was building my first websites when everyone else was still creating pages on Angelfire and Geocities. I was installing my own chat software and creating my own custom e-mail accounts when everyone else was just starting to learn how to use the two. I learned how to use Flash when everyone else was still struggling with the basics of Microsoft Paint. Needless to say, I tried my best to keep up with the pace of the internet world as it evolved. But then I soon fell behind. I wouldn't say that I lost interest in the internet world, but I just stopped keeping up with the new spawnings of it. Now here it is, the year 2007, and a wealth of trends and phenomenons have popped up on the internet that I haven't even bothered to discover. That will all change now. I have compiled of list of internet related items that seem to be what's "hot" in 2007. And my goal is to involve myself with each one, what ever way possible. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to "hop on the bandwagon". Rather, I see myself as "catching up with the internet". So without further ado...:

Start A Blog (Using Wordpress) - Originally, my goal was to just start a blog, as you can see I have accomplished already. But now I wish to expand upon this and start a blog, or continue this blog, using Wordpress. I find nothing wrong with using Blogger, but upgrading to Wordpress wouldn't hurt.

Get A Gmail Account - One thing I do know about the internet in 2007 is that Google is king. They seem to have their fingers in just about everything. I'm not sure of exactly when, but I'd say within the past couple of years, Google introduced their new e-mail service, Gmail, and just about everyone seems to have an account with them now. I'm hearing a lot of people say that it's better than Yahoo, which has been the e-mail service I've been using for years. Now, I'm usually one to stick to what I like and what I'm used to, but then I think about all the old people that still use eight track players and don't know how to operate television remotes. So, I think Gmail is worth a try, and if I don't like it, I can always resort back to YahOOOOOOOooooooo!

Learn Adobe Photoshop / Jasc (Now Corel) Paint Shop Pro - Ok, I'll admit it, yes I still use Microsoft Paint. I crop pictures, add text to pictures, and add white backgrounds to pictures (yes, using the eraser!) all using Paint. Did you happen to see the image at the top of this post? Yup, I made it using, you guessed it, Paint! This is another example of me sticking to what I'm used to, but I think it's about time I start to stray away from Paint. I tried using Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro a few times before, but they both just seemed a little too complicated to me; and I always ended up resorting back to the simplicity of Paint. I'm involved in a lot of forums and needless to say, my tail goes between my legs whenever the "Photoshop Contests" pop up. So, I plan to force myself to sit down and take the time to learn Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro. Sheena (my girlfriend) is an expert at both, so with her help, hopefully learning the two won't be so hard.

Contribute Information To Wikipedia - Wikipedia seems to be the main source of information on just about EVERYTHING, and lately, I've found myself on Wikipedia a lot. Sometimes when I'm bored, I just search for the most random things on there to see what I can come up with. But what I've noticed is that some Wiki pages that I've come across are incomplete or could use more information; information that I have and am knowledgeable about. But I never take the time to contribute that information. For example, just the other day, Sheena and I were looking at *genericized trademarks* on Wikipedia and we came up with a lot trademark names that should have been on the list but weren't. So, whenever I plan to accomplish this goal of contributing information on Wikipedia, I think the page on genericized trademarks would be a good starting point.

Join MySpace - Yes, it's true. I have to be the only person in the universe that does NOT have a MySpace page. It seems like everyone from Stewie Griffin to Abraham Lincoln (hey, isn't he supposed to be dead?) has a MySpace page. So why don't I? Honestly, because MySpace annoys me. The bright colors, the huge text, the crappy layouts, the thousands of advertisements all over the place, and the annoying music that just about everyone has on their pages, all make me want to run FAR away from MySpace. So, even though being on MySpace may be the "thing to do" in 2007, I think this is one goal that I just may omit.

Learn XHTML - Ok, I don't know what the hell happened to regular HTML, but it seems like XHTML has taken over. The other day, I was editing the HTML for this blog, and when I clicked "Save", I got an error stating that I didn't close my < br > and < img > tags. Now wait, since when do I have to have to close < br > and < img > tags?? I told Sheena about it and she told me something about it being because of XHTML. So, my plan is to get to the bottom of of this HTML wannabe.

Post A Video On YouTube - Where else on the internet can you find videos of everything, from episodes of I Love Lucy to your dad nailing your mom in your bed? Nowhere else besides YouTube (oh yeah, and probably LimeWire too). As many times as I've watched videos on YouTube, I can't believe I haven't posted up a video of my own yet; let alone embedded a YouTube video on my blog or Facebook page, or even commented on a YouTube video. I don't think I've ever made any videos that I found interesting enough or worth sharing though; except that one video Sheena and I made when we caught our dog Caesar participating in "sexual activity" with one of Sheena's pillows. Hmmmm....

Buy/Sell Something On Craigslist - I have to admit that sometimes I'm guilty of judging a book by its cover. When I first came across Craigslist a couple years ago, I thought it was some crappy classified ads website that some 8 year old probably threw together in 10 minutes. I didn't even bother to browse the website because the main page scared me away. But now I see it for what it actually is: one of the best and most popular places on the internet to buy, sell, trade, pick up women, find a job, or anything of the like. Craigslist goes against the principle that you have to have a professionally looking website in order to be taken seriously. I wouldn't be surprised if people actually opposed the idea of Craigslist revamping their website into something more "professional looking". But anyway, after briefly browsing Craigslist a few times in the past, I saw a lot of for sale ads for items in which I was interested in, and want ads for items in which I possessed and had no use for anymore. But I never attempted to complete a transaction on Craigslist. So, the next time I come across that tool set on Craigslist that will enable me to spend hours outside working on the car and at the same time keep the wifey out of my hair for a while, I think I'll go ahead and buy it.

Upload Photos To Flickr - For some reason, when I first heard about Flickr, before I found out what it was, I thought it was another social networking website. I don't know why, but for some reason, the word "Flickr" made me think of Hi5 and Bebo. I don't know why though. Maybe it was the weird name. But anyway, like Photobucket, Flickr seems to be a popular place to upload and share pictures. But unlike Photobucket, Flickr seems to also be a community and enables you to create albums of pictures to share. They also seem to have a feature that enables you to "tag" pictures with keywords; a feature that I'm not exactly sure Photobucket has because I've never used it. I'm not really one to upload and share loads of pictures. But if I ever decide to, I'm definitely going to give Flickr a try.

Post A Story On Digg - I always wondered what the hell those "Digg It!" buttons were that I'd see after just about every article and blog post on the internet. But I never bothered to find out. Now I know that their purpose is to post the preceding article or blog on the website, Digg. In case you've been living under a rock like I have, Digg is a website where all of its content is submitted by its users. Usually the most popular "Diggs" are those that are current happenings and controversies within or outside of the internet. Once something is "Dugg", it is then voted on by the Digg community and the most popular Diggs end up on the front page, whereas the least popular get lost on the following pages. As popular as Digg is, I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to post a story that hasn't been posted before. But if I ever do happen to be the first to come across any "this just in!" news stories or the such, I'll make sure I'm the very first to "Digg It!"

And that wraps up the list, for now. I may add some things, and some things I may get rid of. If something is popular or "in" right now, but isn't on this list, it's probably because I haven't thought about it, I don't know about it, or I've already done it. Regardless, if you know of anything that should be added to this list, feel free to let me know. Each time I complete a goal, I'm going to update this list in a new post. So, join me as I begin my journey to introduce myself to the internet world of 2007!

Turn Your Blog Into An ATM!

In case you haven't noticed, or have just been living under a rock like I have, paid blogging seems to be the new phenomenon on the internet. A guy was telling a story about a time he was called over a friend’s house because she (the friend) was having problems with her computer. She told him that every time she tried to use the computer, it said that "Drive C is full" and she didn’t know why. So the first thing he did was check the amount of space on Drive C. She only had 10MB of free space left on that drive; and it was an 80GB drive. So he figured that it was probably a bunch of music files that were taking up so much space. He soon found out that the music files only took up 5GB of space on the drive. After browsing through folders on the drive, he came across a folder that contained files that took up 55GB of space, with the very first file titled, "My friends hot mom - mrs. hughes.mpeg". Needless to say, hundreds of "similar" files were found all throughout the folder. That’s when the guy’s friend found out that her son had a huge archive of porn stored on the family computer. All I have to say is, I’d hate to have been that kid! My advice to him, next time don’t download PORN on to the FAMILY computer. Or if for some reason he really has to, at least consider getting a computer memory upgrade so his collection of porn doesn’t crash the family computer again!

Those Idiots At Old National Bank

In the past, banks have always pissed me off. Ever since opening my first checking account a few years ago, I've experienced a lot of problems; mainly being overdrawn accounts. Now I admit that the overdrawing of my accounts were completely my fault each time. But I never understood why banks process charges on your account even if it will put your account into a negative balance, or even if the account already has a negative balance. The bank that I was banking with at the time had a $30 overdraft fee and a $5 per day fee for every day that the account stays overdrawn. I guess it's just their way of making some extra money.

Well anyway, I've matured since then and I now know how to responsibly handle a checking account. I'm with a new bank now (Old National Bank, hence the title of this post) and everything has been trouble-free so far... until now.

So about a month ago, I was at gas station about to get some gas. I usually use my debit card at the pump because I'm too lazy to go inside and wait in long lines filled with lottery players who spit out 50 different numbers for the lotto, old ladies who take their time counting their change to pay for gas, kids who want every candy bar on the rack, and smokers who buy $30 worth of cigarettes but only spend $3 on gas. But this time, my debit card was denied. I thought maybe I entered my pin number wrong, so I tried it again. And again it was denied. So I go inside, wait in a long line, then have them swipe my card at the counter. It was denied. They try again. Denied. Luckily I had some cash on me, so I used that to pay for the gas. But I still wondered what the hell was wrong with my debit card. I had sufficient funds in my account. But just to make sure, I head over to a drive-up ATM (Yeah, I'm too lazy to use walk-up ATMs too). At the ATM, I request a balance inquiry. After a few minutes of "thinking", the ATM spits out a receipt telling me that my card had been reported lost or stolen. So I'm thinking, "What the hell?" I didn't report my card lost nor stolen. So I head home and call the bank, who transfers me to the bank's headquarters. They tell me that my debit card had been "compromised". They didn't say how or why, they just said that my debit card is no longer usable and that they are sending me a new one. Well I'm glad to know that I'm with a bank that I can depend on if I'm ever stranded somewhere and need some cash (/end sarcasm). So they tell me that my new card should arrive in 7 days. Ok, I'm a patient person. I can wait. So 7 days pass and no sign of my new card. I call the bank to inquire about it. They tell me that they sent it to my OLD address, so it was returned back to them. About four months ago, my girlfriend and I moved into a new apartment and we made sure that our new address was on file with the bank. Well I guess some idiot was high on the job that day because our old address was still on file. So I had to go up to the bank and have them change my address... AGAIN. They then told me that my new debit card would be sent to my new address this time, in 7 days again. A month passes. No signs of my debit card. I call the bank. After forwarding me to about 10 different people, I'm finally told, "Sorry sir, but we've made the idiot mistake of sending your debit card to your old address again. Please forgive us. We're dumbasses." I'm not sure if that's what was exactly said, but that's what processed in my head. So I tell them to just send my debit card to the local branch by me, and I'll just pick it up from there since they can't seem to get a simple address right. They tell me that it will arrive at the local branch in 2 days. So I head up to the bank 5 days later to pick up my debit card, where I'm told that they hadn't received a debit card for me. ............ So I explain the whole story. A call is made and the situation is looked in to. That's when I'm told that my debit card was sent to the local branch's PO box which doesn't exist anymore. ............. So they had to resend it AGAIN, this time directly to the bank. I was told that my debit card should arrive in a week. I can hardly wait to find out what humorous excuse they will have when I go back to the bank to pick up my card next week. And this whole time, my girlfriend's debit card on our account (we have a joint account) works perfectly fine. Go figure. We were planning on investing in a CD (Certificate of Deposit) with Old National Bank, but I'm beginning to think twice about investing my money with a bank that can't even get my address correct.

I'm Lost... The website houses an ongoing student project which involves people scoring points by inviting other people to join. It states on the website that the purpose of this project is "to show how 7 million people can be connected and become the largest online game ever". When you sign up, they give you your own specialized link to invite other people to. For every person that signs up to Lost, you receive a point. For every person that signs up under the people that signed up under you, you receive half a point. Whoever can score the most points is rewarded $5,000. And the top 10 scorers are rewarded $500 each. Now I'm not sure if the latter includes the top scorer since he or she would technically be a part of the top 10. Quoting from the website: "The top prize is $5000 and the prizes for those in the top 10 are $500." So, then would the top scorer receive $5,500 instead of $5,000? Who knows. There's some concern in the Community section (which is basically a message board) of the website of whether the top scorers will actually get paid or not when the "game" is over. In the Sponsors section of the website, it shows that they have a sponsor that has donated $10,000, the exact amount needed to reward the amounts of money they claim. They also have a page on the site that shows who the top 10 scorers are, and then the top 50 after that. Currently the top scorer has a score of 5,388. So one would have to surpass that amount of points in order to become the top scorer. Lost also has an image contest going on whereas the person who can think of the most creative way to invite people to the game, take a picture of it, and upload it onto the site, wins $500. That would mean that the $10,000 amount that I was just referring to would come up $500 short; that is unless the top scorer is only paid $5,000 instead of $5,500. Then there would be $500 left over to go to the winner of the image contest. Even though I know that the top scorer will be paid only $5,000 instead of $5,500, I just like to find loopholes in peoples' wordings. If I were to turn out to be the top scorer, I would probably hold that against them and demand that I be paid $5,500 instead of $5,000 (evil grin here). Overall, it seems worth a try. I'm giving it go and I'll make a post 30 days from now on the outcome. So if anyone out there has a few minutes on their hands, I'd say use them to go ahead and sign up. Just be sure not to invite more people than me! ;-)

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://gtsrantings.blogspot.com/2007/03/im-lost-are-you.html' title='I'm Lost... Hey, you can never get enough of videos ranging from twenty year old Super Mario Brothers commercials to the R. Kelly sex tape (remakes of course) (YouTube), information on everything from George Washington to the color blue (Wikipedia), or friends from the girl(s) you drunkingly slept with last night to the guy you beat up in first grade (Facebook), right? Well, today I found myself browsing Wikipedia and I stumbled across something that made my mouth drop... a Wikipedia page on e-wrestling. Now I know most won't know what the hell e-wrestling is so I guess it would make sense for me to explain.

E-wrestling is similar to sports entertainment wrestling as seen in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) (Note: I thought I'd refer to the WWE as "sports entertainment wresting” rather than professional wresting since it's not actually "real"). The major difference between e-wrestling and sports entertainment wrestling is that e-wrestling takes place online (hence the “e” in e-wrestling). Typically, one person or a group of people will decide to start what's called an "e-federation", or "e-fed" for short. They will then usually either set up a website or forum for it. Once they have everything set up and in place to begin their e-fed, they will begin to recruit members. These members consist of people who will "create" their own e-wrestler(s). The process of creating an e-wrestler is usually done by filling out an application in which the owner(s) of the e-fed have created. The application usually asks for the e-wrestler's name, birth date, hometown, age, height, weight, and other attributes. It will also ask for a description of the e-wrestler, such as what the e-wrestler looks like, what the e-wrestler usually wears to the "ring", and how the e-wrestler acts. That is basically how an e-wrestler is created. Once enough people have joined the e-fed (usually between 20-30 members), a "card" is created. A card consists of matches between the member's e-wrestlers within the e-fed. The card outlines the matches, interviews, etc. that will happen on the e-fed's "television show" (much like that of WWE RAW and WWE Smackdown). The card is usually sent out a week prior to the television show. The reasoning behind this is to give the members enough time to "roleplay". A roleplay is a member’s written promotion of his e-wrestler (via e-mail, forum post, etc.) and usually consists of how he (the e-wrestler) will defeat his opponent. For example, let's say on the card there is a match between two e-wrestlers; one named Big Johnny and the other named Big Jimmy. The member who created and handles Big Johnny would roleplay and talk about how he is going to defeat Big Jimmy. And Big Jimmy’s creator/handler would do the same thing vice versa. Members can roleplay as much as they want. When the day comes of the televison show, roleplaying ends and the owners decide on who the winners of the card are. The owners then write (via e-mail, forum post, etc.) the results of matches. After that, a new card containing new matches is created and sent out and the same process is repeated. There is much more to it, such as pay-per-view (PPV) shows and championship belts, but you should get the general idea.

So on to while my mouth dropped when I came across the article. I used to be heavily involved in e-wrestling when I was younger. My love for sports entertainment wrestling led to me finding out about e-wrestling. When I joined my first e-fed, I didn't quite much understand it. But as time went on, I got the hang of it and went on to become really good at it. My roleplaying skills (which basically determines how good of an "e-fedder" one is) improved greatly over time. I began winning matches and even winning championship belts. I also went on to own my own e-fed; which didn't last that long, but was a good effort nonetheless. I guess I can say I was addicted to e-wrestling. It wasn't a bad thing. I was just the typical, preteen, die hard wrestling fan. I would come straight home from school, jump right on the computer, and roleplay all day long. When I wasn't roleplaying, I'd be somewhere on the internet digging into something e-wrestling related. 95% of my day outside of school consisted of e-wrestling related material. The other 5% consisted of eating, sleeping, and the occasional run to the bathroom whenever I felt bladder about to explode from holding in my pee for so long. If I didn't have school, I would probably have been using those six hours to tend to my e-wrestling addiction too. I just couldn't help it, I just loved e-wrestling!

Eventually though I grew out of it all. I experienced a decreased interest in wrestling as a whole as I got into my late junior high years. I really don't know what happened, but wrestling (and e-wrestling) just didn't appeal to me anymore. So, time went on; let’s fast forward to today. Now I'm in college and I developed an interest in wrestling again. I don't know how, why, or when. I just picked it back up for some reason. I’m not as die hard as I used to be. I usually just try to catch WWE RAW every Monday. Recently I had wondered if e-wrestling was still around. I did a few Google searches and came up with basically nothing. It had seemed that e-wrestling had disappeared off the face of the planet. So, I just left at that. That's why when I made my discovery today, I was so surprised. I guess I didn’t dig deep enough. There's still many e-feds that are running as of today. Sure there aren't as many as there were back when I was involved with them, but there's still quite a few around. It just made me reminisce about my childhood. I don't think I will get back into them again since I'm in college now. I have papers, work (soon hopefully), and uh, a life to tend to. So it's a very slim chance that I will get involved with them again. I'm just happy that an activity I loved so much as a child is still around today.

Allow Me To Introduce Myself...

Well, let's see... where should I start? My name is Gregory Tatum, but from now on will go by GT for short. I'm a freshman at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. I am currently majoring in Management Information Systems, which may change, for the third time. I am 19 years old and am in a six year relationship with my beautiful (emphasis on beautiful!) woman (I can see her smiling riiiiiight NOW!). I'm pretty laid back. I'm an avid car enthusiast. Blah blah blah. Anyway, the purpose of this blog is to speak my mind. Many things happen in my world. Some things I agree with, some things I don't. I find a lot of things to be arguable. So I will let it all out here. I will be covering a range of topics, so just sit back, relax, eat popcorn, whatever, and enjoy!

Coming Soon To A Computer Screen Near You

The ranting will begin momentarily...
