I'm not sure if much of a story exists, though i'll try and check with Mark to see if we can flesh out the review a bit with one. There is still hope of a demo to be salvaged, but the disks which did contain executables were sadly corrupted.

I just found the animation video on youtube and found this site through further investigation, great work guys, I was a huge fan of the original Flood and would have loved to have seen a sequel (even though it looks pretty different both in design and aesthetics to the original). I really hope a working demo is found one day.

Can someone tell me how the story begins considering the ending of the first game (which made me very cross when I was a kid)?

I think it was standard ST writing - but Mark will know more. However, Mark is very keen to keep trying, so there is work underway to arrange another try at grabbing data from the disks. Hopefully if all goes well then we could see some executables in the future. Maybe Ocean bought a duff bunch of disks, as Martin Galway's ST based disks also failed.

About those 3.5 disks: What kind of system was used to write them? For anything copied on professional hardware I find it surprising that a 1991/1992 disk shouldn't work (my corruption rate for original games from that time is at ~5% only). If it's just a consumer disk copied on a standard system it's less surprising. Still wondering though how hard they tried to recover them. In fact I've only had two 3.5 disks that refused to work completely, all the others one's just had corrupt tracks. Sometimes you can even fix those (with a tool like DRevitalize) but if not it might be possible to merge two partly-working copies of the same disk into one working.

Just trying to express that one shouldn't give up too easily when it comes to corrupt disks. Often enough simple tricks like trying a different drive/machine, re-trying a second time after the first try or reading a couple of disks before trying the corrupt one might help. It's certainly been my experience backing up a couple hundred IBM disks.

You should play it in four player mode with proper joypads using a multitap adaptor for the SNES.

It was retro in 1987, retro in 1997 and when it comes out across the board in six formats in 2009 it will be.... RETRO!

Hi,

Finding my e-mail address isn't hard. Just go to the pcGTW website and click on "contact us". ;-)

I actually started thinking about using the graphics to finally do a PC version of Turrican 3 myself, and I created small parts of certain levels with a tile map editor already, but doing this could lead to copyright problems. I'm not even sure who holds the copyright on the PC graphics (though I can make a good guess).

Hi Timo,

I'm stunned, simply stunned. I've been working on a Turrican clone reworking AMIGA gfx on my own for some while and have been dreaming of getting my hands on the Turrican 3 PC gfx for a long, long time since I love Turrican 2 PC's graphical style. Do you think it would be possible to share them with me? Sorry for asking so blatantly, but I was unable to find your e-mail address anywhere on the site.

Whatever your decision will be, it'd be great if we could at least get in touch.

Thanks - I'm so excited!
