Just uploaded a new aerial image of how to find our clubhouse, with graphic and text labels - and appended it to the original post from August 2008.

This should now make it much easier for people to find us, cause it can prove a little confusing the first or second time.

RIP - David Wrather

Long standing club member, DAVE WRATHER passed away on the afternoon of Tuesday, 25 August 2009.

Dave was a tireless and dedicated supporter of our club. Always keen to sell raffle tickets on social days, plus engage people with his own unique and fun sense of humour. He always managed to put a BIG smile on everyones face. Often he would be dressed up as 'Santa Claus' for our Christmas social each December.

Dave will surely be missed by all of us here at Guanaba Country Music Club.

So please remember Dave, his family and friends in your prayers.

NEW Guanaba Facebook Fan Page

If you have not already checked it out - our NEW FACEBOOK FAN PAGE is just what the doctor ordered.

The new page is much more interactive with members / fans, and much more flexible than the old Facebook group (now deleted) that we have had online for the past 12 months. The old group page was deleted finally this week just gone, so if you were a member of that - you will need to re-join the new page.

If you are a member of the new fan page, your personal Facebook profile will be updated each time something new is posted or updated on our club page. Making it much easier for our Facebook fans to stay in touch with what we are doing. As well as this, our Twitter page will be updated simultaneously and automatically too.

REVUE - Halloween Party Fun Night

This was our very first Halloween Party Fun Night.

And what a success it was. A good crowd attended this fun event, and everyone dressed up and got into the spirit of the occassion - so to speak *grins*. We had some fantastic witches, evil goolies and red-horned devils too.

Our clubhouse, 'The Firestation' was transformed into a spooky fun house for the night, complete with plenty of cobwebs & spiders, bats, creepy music, UV black lights + our very own graveyard .. and a great fog machine to make the atmosphere just right.

Thrown in along the way were some fun party games, and some eager patrons even went bobbing for apples lol. Everyone had a ball, and the friendly conversations just flowed through out the entire evening.

Everyone brought a plate to share for supper, and what a simply delightful feast it was. Plenty of fine 'savoir fare' for us all to indulge in. We are now looking forward to next year's party, and lots of great ideas were generated for that - this time round.

RIP - Lyle Lute

Long standing club member, LYLE LUTE passed away on Wednesday, 04 November 2009.

Lyle was a great supporter of our club, and sure as heck loved his country music. He will surely be missed by all of us here at Guanaba Country Music Club.

Webpage Makeover

Finally got around to giving our official webpage a badly needed makeover.

Think you will like what I have done. Well all I can say is that it is definitely a BIG improvement on the original design. I stuck to the 3 column format, cause that seems to be the most versatile layout for our needs. But there is a lot more scope within this new page template for growth and change and more add on functions too.

I have also reinstalled the graphic header panel, that I had experimented with a long time back in the past, when I was putting the original webpage together a couple of years ago now. This panel can be rotated and changed every now and then, so keep an eye out cause you might be up there next time.

I have chosen a sage green come yellowey - a new word I just invented lol - colour scheme which sorta ties in with a country sorta theme / colour. It looks really cool.

Congratulations Bree

A recent article in our local newspaper, the Gold Coast Sun highlighted former junior club member BREE DE ROME being accepted into the Queensland Conservatorium Of Music (Gold Coast campus) - to study for a bachelor of popular music.

Bree (now 16) is the youngest ever student to be accepted into the conservatorium as a singer/songwriter at the then age of 15.

We congratulate Bree on this achievement, and wish her all the best for her future.

Guanaba Country Music Club advises that we do not hold a social in January 2012. Our first social will be 19th February 2012. Practices will commence on Wednesday 8th February at 7.30pm

It's on again, our Charity Day 2012 to be held on April 29 2012, at Club headquarters, Heritage Park, Pimpama. Tha day wil commence at 10am and continue until 6.00pm. A top day of entertainment is guaranteed. Food & refreshments available. Non stop entertainment will be provided by Country Music Clubs from Northern NSW & South-East Queensland. All proceeds from the day will benefit our nominated charity. More details will be posted in due course. Any enquiries contact Guanaba CMC.

Practice Information

1. The two WEDNESDAY evenings before the monthly social from 7:30pm to 10:00pm

2. The two SATURDAY afternoons before the monthly social from 1:00pm to 5:00pm

- If you wish to sing at the practice sessions, please bring 3 copies of the song music charts for the band to use.

- If you wish to begin practising a brand new song with our band, please ensure that you bring a recorded copy of the song with you - just in case the band does not know the song.

- A $2 gold coin donation is requested for each practice session, to offset costs in running the club. Coffee & biscuits are included in this donation

Painting update

Our painters are working on our external repaint job and is it looking good. Hopefully it is not too far off being completed.

On Sunday 15th Jan 2012 we visited Mullumbimby CMC and did a Club Act. We were made very welcome by the Club and we did 2 half hour spots entertaining nearly 200 people who attended.

Many thanks to President Ken for making us so welcome along with the Guanaba members who ventured south for the day. A special thanks to the entertainers and the band members who helped make the day a success. We look forward to January 2013.
