There is a logical reason, and here it is: When so many people say they are going to win, and the teams win during the regular season and early in the playoffs, a sense of entitlement takes hold. There is a player expectation that they will win. However, these teams have a tendency not to deal well with situations of adversity, and when they run into adversity, they often aren't prepared to deal with it.

So, the Philadelphia Phillies will make it into the playoffs, and probably will make it to the World Series, but they won't win it all. Karma is against it.

Reason 2:

The New York Yankees, with the exception of C.C. Sabathia, don't have any post season heroes. Derek Jeter is too old, Curtis Granderson will probably collapse under that unique form of New York pressure and, well, Alex Rodriquez is Alex Rodriquez.

So, while it would not surprise anyone if the Boston Red Sox play the New York Yankees for the American League Championship, don't bet on it. The Yankees may not even make it through the first round.

Reason 3:

The Red Sox, Phillies, Rangers and Yankees are the high talent, top performing teams right now. Yes, the Milwaukee Brewers are on quite a run, but let's not hold our breath on it. Let's see where the Brewers are on September 30. The Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Indians are all fighting to see who will be the first team eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, although the Tigers have some interesting pitching attributes that could surprise a lot of people.

So, who do we think will be in the American League Championship Series? This is easy - Rangers and Red Sox. And, who do we think will be in the National League Championship Series? This is also easy - Phillies and some other team who the Phillies will beat.

There is a flow of mo (momentum). You can see where things are headed without a crystal ball. You just lock into the moment, and what do you feel? We are headed toward a Red Sox and Phillies World Series, and Boston will win it.

Reason 4:

The Red Sox have really good pitching and really good hitting and a pretty decent bullpen, all of whom are worthy of a World Series Champ.

Reason 5:

Adrian Gonzalez, Justin Pedroia, and Jacoby Ellsbury are all really, really on a long term plan to win, and Adrian Gonzalez really, really wants to prove his worth, so he is highly motivated to win. It will be Adrian Gonzalez that leads the way through the playoffs. Don't be surprised if he hits.450 and hits 8homers in the playoffs. He has the mo going for him, and this alone will be a prime reason why the Red Sox will win.

What Happened To The St. Louis Cardinals?

The 2011 St. Louis Cardinals is a prime example of how difficult it is to produce a championship quality major league baseball team. In spite of having, possibly the greatest baseball player to ever play the game, Albert Pujols, an Ace pitcher, Chris Carpenter to anchor the pitching staff, and a bevy of new an exciting position players, the team has fallen to mediocrity.

What happened? That's not exactly an easy question to answer, because it's multi-faceted, although there are repeat mistakes which could hold some of the answers.

The loss of Adam Wainwright, the second Ace of the Cardinal pitching staff, to Tommy John surgery before the season began was a huge blow to the club, but it occurred prior to the season which gave the Cardinals time to adjust to a different pitching rotation. Not that you can replace a Cy Young winner at the drop of a hat, but if it's going to happen, better before than during the season.

What was unforeseen, was the complete collapse of All-Star reliever, Ryan Franklin, who had anchored the bull pen as the premier closer of the Cardinals. For whatever reason, and believe me there were a lot of baseball people smarter than me who couldn't figure out why, the reliever simply couldn't pitch anymore. In frustration, or perhaps courage of not wanting to destroy any good memories of his past accomplishments, he retired from baseball mid season, something just not done unless there's some illegal ramifications involved.

So the Cardinals entered the season with an adequate starting rotation and a strong bullpen, minus a designated closer, which I personally believe is B.S anyway. The relief pitchers are professionals and to say only one pitcher out of the entire staff is capable of retiring 3 men in a row to end the game, is either ridiculous or you have a real quality problem in your relief staff.

Injuries plagued the Cardinals the entire season, and when I say plagued, I mean to list the number, types and players involved would probably take up the rest of the article. It was much of an exaggeration to say the team injury list resembled a MASH unit.

So you have the loss of a Cy Young winning pitcher, the retirement of your Ace relief closer and a bevy of injuries, which defied explanation. What else could go wrong?

As a fan I know nothing about the financial side of the game, except to say it's not a game, but rather big business, each team being a middle sized corporation, not a mom & pop store. Therefore, I'll assume Cardinal management had valid reasons for their actions, but the fiasco of not re-signing Albert Pujols before the season began was a major mistake.

Pujols is the consummate professional and should understand the aspects of the business side of the game and the financial ramifications on the team trying to meet his contract demands.

However, Pujols, no matter how great a player, is a human being with feelings and emotions just like everyone else. As a former ball player I try to put myself in Pujols' shoes and I feel I understand the mental frame of mind he entered the season with.

He began his career with the Cardinals, and knowing Pujols' character, there is a large amount of loyalty to the team that gave him the chance to play professional baseball. In order to repay the trust instilled in him by the Cardinals, he only became the greatest baseball player in the game for the last 10 years. He has broken records which only the premier ball players of all time have accomplished and, barring any career ending injury, will establish new records which may never be broken.

Pujols firmly believed there was a bond between him and the Cardinals, one of mutual respect, admiration and benefit, which couldn't be breached. The emotional and mental affects on Pujols of the Cardinals bungling of the contract talks, could not but negatively affect his performance, thus the poor start of the season.

They say players play the game, which is true, but management, from the dugout to the high rise can make it quite difficult sometimes.

Playing The Wrong Type Of Baseball

Unfortunately, since I'm a rabid St. Louis Cardinals fan, the 2011 Cardinals are a prime example of playing the wrong type of baseball in the wrong league. What do I mean by that statement?

The Cardinals have played good old fashioned American league baseball of moving base to base, one at a time in a methodical manner in which to score runs, and every now and then they score a lot of runs by way of the home run.

The problem is, the Cardinals play in the National league and that style of baseball historically has not fared well over the course of a full season. It's easy to understand how the team fell into this type of play, with the likes of Albert Pujos, possibly the greatest hitter to play the game, Matt Holladay, a muscular power hitter protecting Pujos in the line-up, then acquiring Lance Berkman whose resurgence since being discarded by the Houston Astros, is the stuff of Hollywood movies, the lineup is potent.

However, what's the great debate? "Good pitching stops good hitting" and that has proven true too many times through the season. When the Cardinals click, they provide an offensive display that few other clubs in the major league can compete with, but when they don't click, the game turns into a boring frustration, hard to watch.

Don't misunderstand me, there's nothing wrong with having a power laden batting line-up and the Cardinals' failures this year can be contributed to more than just playing the wrong kind of baseball, but one issue at a time.

The Cardinals have hit into more double plays, an alarming amount more, than any club in baseball in either league. Some will argue that's the result of the Cardinals high team batting average, which translates into more base runners, thus more opportunities to hit into double plays.

To a certain extent that reasoning is valid, however, if the Cardinals traditionally put a lot of base runners on during a normal game, it would seem worth the risk to have runners on the move via the Steal or Hit & Run instead of staying stationary hoping for a home run or a hit into the gap.

This non-aggressive offensive play on the base paths leaves the pitcher confident he can devote his full attention to getting the batter out, and only a courtesy throw over to first every now and then is sufficient.

This situation allows the pitcher to throw "his" pitch to the batter, resulting in a record setting year of hitting into double plays. The double play is not only the pitcher's best friend, but it breaks the moral of a baseball team quicker than any other offensive play. It really doesn't matter if your lead off hitter reaches first base safely every inning, if he's just put out by the next hitter in a DP.

National league baseball historically played aggressive offense on the base paths while the American league lumbered along with power hitting. Both styles are effective, however to mix one style with another for a full year is not productive, as the Cardinals are finding out as they slip into oblivion and out of the playoff picture.

The two different styles should collide in a Fall event known as the World Series, and not during the season.

How to Pick the Right Baseball Glove

Let's face it, the idea of a baseball travelling at a high velocity right towards that kid you were just holding in your arms a few short years before is pretty daunting. Besides moving out of the way, the one line of defense between that ball and a worrisome visit to the E.R. is a glove. A baseball glove. We'll get to teaching them how to use it in another post, but right now I want to talk about how to pick the right one for the different stages of your youngster's career.

There are a lot of great gloves on the market. And if your child is younger than 7 or 8, it's up to you, the parent, to find a good one. As they get older they'll have their own preference and your job becomes making sure they don't lose it. I bet every day, at every park in this country, there's a lost baseball glove, left behind somewhere with no chance of ever seeing the lost and found bin. But early on in your child's playing days, you want something that they can use, not too big, not too hard to break in and good quality.

I mention good quality because on the lower end of the price scale are the plastic gloves. Those that look like real leather but in fact are not. Pretty much any glove that comes with a plastic or soft baseball attached to it in a little net, or that you buy at a grocery store. These are okay to get your child used to a baseball glove before they actually join a league, but generally are not recommended to play in games. They are hard to break in and are not too durable. Also want to try and avoid showing up at any ballpark with a glove that is adorned with the likeness of SpongeBob Square Pants or any other Disney or Nick Jr. character. It's in the baseball constitution.

For a T-baller, up to age 8, you want to find a good leather glove between the sizes of 9? to 11? depending on size of player. From 8 years old on the player may wear up to a 12? to 13? glove, though infielders may want to keep smaller sizes. The important thing for the smaller players is to make sure the glove is not so big that they can't close it or it keeps falling off their hands. I've seen plenty of kids with the big Jai Alai cestas on their hands.

When my older son was in T-Ball, about 6 years ago, he used a Louisville Slugger TPX glove, size 11?. That glove lasted him for a year...until he lost it. Yes, some other kid got to take advantage of that glove's best years. *Deep sigh*

My youngest son who started in T-ball just last season uses an 11? mesh Louisville Slugger Helix Youth glove. The mesh back makes it a bit lighter and it was broken in plenty even brand new. And at less than $40 I think we got great value for it. Has he caught a pop fly with it yet? No. But he hasn't lost any teeth either. Once the kids get older it becomes more about what they're comfortable with.

Rawlings has a great line of gloves. We picked up a, 11? Rawlings Heart of the Hide PRO12VHPM Pro Mesh glove a few years back and I think it's the best glove he's ever had. Broke in super fast and he can use it for outfield and infield. I love this glove.

The Wilson A2000 is also a great glove. Despite the great leather quality, it was significantly conditioned right out of the box and has also proven to be a valuable glove. But at this price point, I have considered putting Lojack Security on it.

Speaking of security, gloves tend to be like security blankets to players, young and old. They have to rely on them and know that they make them play better. A good glove will last for most of the player's little league career (and even beyond). When they're our age they'll always look at the glove and think of great times, or in my case all the times it failed me. But as a wise man once said (on ESPN Sportscenter I think) - "A good craftsman never blames his tools."

Introducing The MPLS Network Technique

It is absolutely vital to keep in mind that the subject of this topic is by no means a service. An MPLS network or Multiprotocol Label Switching is actually a technique. You can utilize it to provide Metro Ethernet, IP VPN (Virtual Private Network), or direct it towards supplying optical services.

What this means is that an entire communication backbone may be built on this technique. The services which the users purchase, however, can NOT be called MPLS as such. You should choose to give the service an entirely different name. There is no real name set in stone, so the naming of your MPLS set- up is up to what the marketing department decides to call it.

The most essential concept of this technique is packet labeling. The way it is done in this type of environment, is fundamentally different from that of a normal IP set- up. The labeling in this instance makes the packet delivery not only faster, but more efficient as well.

In the case of the more traditional technique of direct IP, every router has to make a decision as far as where the packet of information should go. This decision had to be based entirely on the header section of a packet. The downside of this is that when a packet arrives, the router has to do some thinking, as to where to send it, which slows the entire process down.

When using the MPLS network technique, the packets' addressing is made that bit more efficient. This is done by assigning it to a certain FEC, which is indicated on the packet's label. Tables are provided to each router, showing them what to do with the different FEC packets. FEC stands for Forward Equivalence Class.

The upshot of this is that routers do not have to analyze the packet's title. All they have to do is use the label, to provide an index for the table. This is like reading a map book with an index for the router and the table, in turn, supplies the packet's new FEC.

The result of this is being able to give an MPLS network a "talent" for handling packets that meet certain predefined requirements, in a faster, more consistent way. It allows easier assigning of paths with lower latency (faster lines) to packets carrying real- time data. Doing this in direct IP is rather challenging, which has always been a major shortcoming of traditional routing.

Recently a lot of debate has gone on, about whether this service is part of Layer 2 or 3 of the OSI (Open System Interconnection). The major reason for the confusion is that the MPLS network technique can't logically fit into one of the seven OSI model's layers. In fact, one of the major advantages of this is being able to separate the mechanisms for forwarding, from the principal data linking service.

Further adding to the confusion, is that the two most widely used implementations of this technique are on two different OSI layers. The first of them is the Border Gateway Protocol, which is a Layer 3 service. The second of the most popular implementations is the Layer 2 pseudo wire VPN.

Helpful Benefits Of MPLS Systems And Services

There are many different components that need to be integrated into a company or system for improvement. Many improvements and upgrades have been made, including the introduction of MPLS, or Multiprotocol Label Switching. This this is a system that will offer a wide range of benefits that will improve any network. Those who are currently looking to make some upgrade can check into the top benefits below.

Using an older, or outdated system will continue to slow up the telecommunications network. However, those who are using MPLS will notice a difference in the speed, as well as how applications are responding. This new type of speed will allow the network to move faster, which means that the overall productivity will be increased. Be sure to keep track of the network at all times to ensure that productivity is always up to speed, and ready to go.

Online reporting will allow individuals to keep track of their network, wherever they are. Regular reports can also be comprised so that the individual can track all of the progress. As long as a connection has been made, the user will have full access to their MPLS system.

When it comes to the overall costs of the MPLS switch, there is a noticeable decrease. This of course will depend on the overall size of the system, and individuals will need to evaluate and research all options before making a definite decision. Look into services that provide this type of system, and make sure to account for extra space. The network could need to expand, and having the flexibility ahead of time will help immensely.

A higher level of support is also integrated into the new system. This will give users a chance to cut out a great amount of down time that is experienced when the support team is not up and running. With MPLS, support is typically available anytime of the day, so even the smallest problem can be handled as swiftly as possible.

Those ready to jump on board with MPLS will need to ensure that they sign up with the proper provider. Make sure that the cloud can be accessed, and stay away from the services that do not offer 24 hour support. This will only slow things up, and when a crash occurs it could be hours before anything is actually taken care of.

Very little extra hardware is required for this connection. The installation is carried out by the provider hired. This is typically a free option, so specify this detail prior to sign up. New cables could be upgraded to ensure the speed is steady and strong. Old lines or cables often slow things up, which has nothing to do with the provider.

MPLS systems offer many great advantages that simple or older systems such as ATM do not. With the increased speed, and productivity on the network anyone should be able to excel and expand. Research the top providers out there right now before making a final decision.

Living Multiple Lives and the Acceleration of Knowledge in the 21st Century

Born in 1950 made me a baby boomer, a part of a population explosion as the world woke up from the second world war which had just kick started the greatest technological developments in all of history.

No one asked if there was enough money to do what was humanly possible in war time. If the raw materials were available and with inventiveness not restricted by Keynesian economics if it could be done it was done.

With national survival as motivation what was achieved in six years was nothing short of staggering. With everyone pulling together the production figures reach levels never believed possible.

Looking back, just six years with no financial restraints gave my generation the ability to live several lives.

All the varied things I have been able to do have only been possible from 1945 onwards.

As a private pilot the war effort gave me new aircraft design with reliable engines that were safe. Navigation aids for radio direction. VHF radio for contact with air traffic control. Gyroscopes were making artificial horizon, instruments for flying in clouds. Radar, GPS, even moving maps came via computing another second world war development.

In 1990 I set out to sail around the world in a fifty foot steel yacht. Again prior to the war it would have been only a rich man that could build a twenty six ton yacht. In this vessel I had a depth sounder unheard of before 1939. The war gave me accurate charts. GPS and map on my computer laptop made navigation so safe. My H.F. radio meant I was always able to contact maritime control by skipping radio signals off the ionosphere.

It was rocketry developed by the Germans that was the start of going into space. How blessed to have an Iridium satellite phone incase of medical emergency.

Television was also an offshoot of radar both required a cathode ray tube

All the strange new materials. Plastics, rayon, fiberglass have only available to the ordinary man since 1950. I used Dacron sail cloth when building hang gliders in 1974.

T61636 structural aluminum I used in ultra light aircraft and then carbon fiber when building a fiber glass home built aircraft.

Could any working man prior to the war build with any of these high tech. materials?

In sixty years I have traveled to 31 countries. Sailed in command 54 thousand nautical miles. Flown 450 hours in my own light aircraft, countless thousands of miles by jet aircraft.

Had access to medical technology that has photographed my intestinal tract, scanned how thick the plaque is in my heart arteries and given me graduated lenses in my glasses.

Now I have access to a thousand libraries at the push of a button. Over a thousand CD's of music. The ability to make a high definition movie and do full editing on a home computer.

Take high quality photos which have no processing fee.

Drive the safest cars yet made.

I have never known hunger or danger.

Go back and ask anyone before 1939 and tell them that an ordinary worker could do and experience all these things and they would agree now it is possible to live multiple lives.

Insurance Brokers Ease the Way to Successful Coverage

Using an insurance broker will save clients time and money. With their huge network of insurance providers and companies, insurance brokers can get the best price with the best coverage for each of their customers. Brokers work with many different agencies and providers, whereas insurance agents usually work with only one provider. But, both work on a commission basis to get the best deals for their clients and to settle claims. All brokers require training and in most government jurisdictions there is legislation regarding licensing and operations.

While most people look for services from insurance brokers for their home or vehicle needs, there are also other areas where they are helpful. Life and health insurance are two examples, especially for small employers who cannot offer their employees a plan of their own. The company may even provide additional services such as enrolling the workers. Still other insurance brokers supply investment opportunities. And, not to be forgotten is pet insurance for the four-legged members of the family.

Insurance brokers can get the perfect policy for the home. Whether the clients are home owners or renters who require tenant insurance, it is important to get the best coverage they can for the lowest price. But first the clients need to ensure they are working with a reliable insurance broker. They should look on the website for satisfied customer testimonials. They should check with the Better Business Bureau to ensure there are no claims against the broker. Asking for referrals from friends, family and fellow workers can also be a good way to choose a broker. And use online resources too, such as those which compare insurance broker(s) and their rates. Quite often quoting a rival's lower premiums will force a broker to match it.

Next, clients want to be assured the insurance broker is listening to them. He or she should also be helping by suggesting how to reduce risks. A simple example would be the investment of a steering wheel lock, the addition of which will bring down the monthly premium. As well, if they use transit or work from home, they will get a reduced rate when compared to clients who commute many miles to and from work every day. And the broker should give good advice on new vehicle purchases, such as the higher premiums which will result if a luxury car is purchased as compared to a modest sedan.

Insurance brokers who are selling home owner's coverage need to ask a lot of questions. Do clients have security alarms? What type of roof? What is the risk from fire, freezing pipes or floods? The answers to these questions may reduce or increase premiums.

Clients can do a lot to decrease their premiums as well. If they combine their home and vehicle policies with the same company, they often get a discount. If they stay with the same company for many years, their premiums should reflect their loyalty. And, if they maintain a clean driving record without any traffic tickets for speed or driving under the influence of alcohol, they will have lower rates.

Finally, do not be afraid to get quotes from two or three insurance brokers before settling on a policy. Carefully consider the coverage that each will give and the total cost. Protecting personal property is a serious matter!

How to Get Quality Insurance Leads With Great Expertise

Have you ever experienced pre-ordering something in an on-line shop and you have to wait for weeks on end before the item arrives? The time it takes for the product to arrive at your doorstep is so nerve wracking that you have to bite your nails in anticipation. Why the excitement? Probably because you have been waiting for it as it is an integral part of your hobby or maybe you just want to get ahead of everybody else in acquiring the said product.

Whether the reason is the former or the latter, almost all people have a want of getting ahead of everybody else; especially when that person owns a business for him or herself. Business owners all over the globe all want one thing and that is to get ahead of their competitors at any cost. Companies, especially those that offer health insurance services, will do well in conquering their competition. Health insurance companies that are at the top of their sector can:

a. cover their targeted market area from corner to corner

b. be the first company to come into mind once a person is in need of health insurance

c. get many sales from referrals

d. have quality leads that will never go out of stock

f. attain financial stability and growth at a much faster pace

To get to these goals, owners of health insurance companies need to gather up their resources and start generating leads for their own good. Initiating a lead generation campaign can result to the company's better future.

However, just blindly generating random health insurance leads will, instead, lead to the company's downfall. The first step in every lead generation campaign is to know who you want to target and to aim for the specified market with utmost precision. Any less and the campaign will slowly decline in the production of leads which will ultimately end in utter failure.

For them to better handle the campaign, they should always outsource their marketing campaign to skilled professionals residing in outbound contact centers. Outbound contact centers are the known for a number of positive things that can lead marketing campaigns to its goals. For instance, they can utilize their database to target a number of possible leads for the insurance service. Many of today's call centers can effectively target potential markets such as homeowners from different locales like in US and Canada. Additionally, they can target other business owners if the health insurance company wishes that market to be targeted.

Lead generation in the search for health insurance leads should always be left in the capable hands of professionals in outbound contact centers. It is not only their expertise in generating leads and setting appointments but also with the tools they use to aid them in doing so. Owners of health insurance companies that outsource to these experts are one step ahead in becoming number one at the top of their competition. These companies will then be given high regard and people will take notice of their immense capabilities as professional call center agents bring about their campaign's eventful success.

The Beauty of Lead Generation Telemarketing for Insurance Firms

Insurance, what can we do without it?

Simply speaking, the word 'insured' can be found within the term insurance. In other words, the service allows people and businesses alike to be insured of payment from all sorts of uncertain loss. Some examples of the many types of insurance include:

auto insurance

health insurance

home insurance

accident insurance

casualty insurance

credit insurance

and many more

Being insured is a top priority for many as it will lessen out their worry about footing the bill or at least a part of it. Take hospital bills for example; we do not know when accidents will strike. Unfortunately, when it happens, it happens and people are left with the worry of paying the large hospital bill. But when a person has signed up for an accident insurance plan, a hefty sum of the bill will be paid by the insurance company.

However, contrary to popular belief, insurance firms have it hard in convincing people, let alone those that own businesses, to opt for their services. In generating leads for these firms, it can become the most difficult marketing encounter they can ever face. A number of reasons as to the existence of this high level of difficulty. Some of which are:

not everyone wants to be insured or is not interested in the service

the wrong type of insurance is being sold to the wrong market

they are already insured by another company

These are but a few of the many reasons as to why insurance firms find great difficulty in generating quality insurance leads. Therefore, the firm needs to find a way wherein they can grab the attention of potential clients while keeping up with the competition. In other words, the two main aspects that are needed of the marketing campaign are speed and precision.

To get these two much needed assets, insurance firms should do well in outsourcing their lead generation campaign to a telemarketing company. Let us take a look at why outsourcing to professional telemarketers uphold both speed and precision for their lead generation campaign.

Speed

Telemarketers can call potential clients by the hundreds on a daily basis. So if the campaign runs for a long period of time, the insurance firm can expect the number of prospects to be contacted to rake up to the thousands by the time the marketing course ends.

Precision

Telemarketing companies take charge with the campaign as they make use of their highly detailed and very lengthy list of possible leads. Insurance firms can take advantage of their list as many of today's telephone marketing companies have millions of potential clients for their business that are just waiting to be called.

With the professional aid of these telemarketing companies, insurance firms are sure to acquire the quality leads they need to close more sales. More sales means more income. More income means that the firm will encounter their financial growth a lot sooner than what has been expected. With the acquisition of their quality leads, insurance firms are sure to acquire their own brand of financial success.

Does My Business Need Liability Insurance?

General liability insurance protects businesses from lawsuits. Whether your company is a large or small business, even if you're an independent contractor working by yourself, you need to consider buying this type of policy to protect your assets.

General liability insurance is usually the first type of policy most businesses shop for. It may not be the only business policy you'll need to buy, but it is an important policy to consider. It can save your company from major financial losses if you lose or have to settle a property damage lawsuit or personal injury claim. Even if you're found not labile, legal defense fees can be costly, and this policy will cover those costs as well.

Other types of policies you'll learn about at this blog are usually purchased along with GLI and they include Professional Liability Insurance, Errors and Omissions coverage, worker's compensation, product liability insurance and commercial building insurance for property owners.

You can buy a general liability policy from an insurance agent or broker, or you can get quotes online. Before you purchase a policy for your business though, we recommend you pay close attention to these three important aspects of any business policy:

1. Limits

The limits of general liability policies refer to the maximum amount the insurance company will pay out on a claim. It's important to get the right amount of coverage for your business based on it's specific risks. If you buy a policy with a $1 Million limit and you lose a suit for $1.2 Million, you'd be responsible for paying the other $200,000. That would bankrupt many small businesses.

Businesses with risk beyond their policy limits should consider an umbrella policy which is usually a cost effective way to cover additional risk. The best way to determine how much risk your business has is to sit down with an insurance broker.

2. Exclusions

Exclusions in liability insurance policies are simply things that are not covered. Obviously, it is important to find out if your policy has any exclusions before you purchase. Some examples to be on the lookout for include things such as intentional injury, acts of war, and breach of contract. Many times, additional policies can protect you from things not included in your general liability insurance.

3. Deductibles

Deductibles are the part of any claim that you pay out of pocket before the insurance company starts paying. Most general liability insurance policies have no deductible, but if you are a small business with minimal risk, you can cut the cost of your insurance by requesting a deductible. Just be sure it is an amount you can easily pay in the event of a claim.

How much does general liability insurance cost?

Business insurance rates have been on the rise as of late, perhaps due to the number of lawsuits brought against companies. Unfortunately, many individuals have the perception that all businesses have deep pockets, but as a small business owner you know otherwise. That's why it is so important to protect yourself with liability insurance.

General Liability Insurance can cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars a month to thousands of dollars a month. It all depends on the risks associated with your business, including your business location and your history of claims. Get in touch with an agent or broker to determine your risks, then get multiple quotes either online or off. Compare policies keeping those three important aspects in mind and you'll be able to adequately protect your business with the right coverage.

Small Business Insurance: Covering Your Mobile Devices

The way we do business and communicate with one another has changed drastically over the past decade.

Once, where a simple Filofax would have sufficed, we have seen an evolution in the way we work; field agents began to adopt the PDA, the first laptops began to appear... and then we saw an explosion in mobile technology that has resulted in ever more advanced and expensive devices gracing the messenger bags and briefcases of business people across the country, from Notebooks, to tablet devices all the way through to smart phones.

What many business people forget however, is just how much all these devices are worth. For the better equipped employee, we might see a notebook or laptop, an iPad and a Smartphone of some sort... and already we're looking at a total cost of between £1000 and £1500. What's more, is that these devices are carried around every day, bouncing around inside bags, used on the trains, carried through the wet British weather in less than waterproof cases and covers.

There are few businesses that could lose a number of these devices and chalk it up as an insignificant loss. For smaller businesses, equipping just one employee in this fashion may cost at a significant proportion of their profits. As such, it is important to have these devices covered against the usual consequences of ownership, potential theft, loss, accidental damage... All of these things can, and do happen.

To make things even more difficult, many insurers will have complex clauses that define 'accidental damage' and other such mishaps in such a way, that if you were to damage your beloved iPad you may find you are still not covered, because of insufficient device protection for example or because of the nature of the accident.

It is important therefore to shop around for the business insurance that best covers you, your field agents and your costly mobile devices. Take the time to understand the level of protection you have to avoid any unexpected expenses and bother. Talking to an expert business insurance broker can help, where they will trawl the market to find you exactly the kind of cover you need to ensure that your employees can continue to work, whatever happens. Failing that, you could always pay the full amount for continual replacements if you choose not to take out an insurance policy, if you can afford to do so you're doing remarkably well in such tough economic times!

Here at aba we believe in offering only the best insurance products and services to businesses, ensuring you get only the cover you need and not excessive policies that you'll never make use of. Due to the fact that litigation is running rampant in the western world, and the fact that many lawyers are more than happy to take cases on contingency basis, you could be opening yourself up for a world of hurt if you are not covered.

You may think you don't have anything to worry about, but you might be surprised at the lengths people will go to in order to try and get money from a business due to injuries they supposedly suffer on a business's property.

Public liability insurance (public indemnity insurance), or professional indemnity insurance, will protect you if someone decides to trip over a piece of lint on the floor. Or, if they accidentally jam the end of a paperclip into their hand. Multiple times.

You may think you're safe, but what about if a wandering circus elephant decides to bumble onto your property and try to eat your fax machine? Or if someone chokes on one of the little mints you leave out? It could happen.

Professional indemnity insurance also covers those in other professions, such as contractors, doctors, plumbers, lawyers (yes, even them), and brokers. These individuals can be sued if they are found to be negligent in the advice they give, or perhaps fail to give. This is why this type of insurance is very important.

Just remember, people can and will sue for any number of reasons. If you are a plumber, you may have someone sue you because you forgot to tell them that they shouldn't flush twelve pounds of glue down the toilet. They probably won't win, but you never know. Stranger things have happened.

A contractor may have someone press litigation on them because they burned their house down after falling asleep with a cigarette burning but think that the fire was caused because you had the audacity to use wood beams for structural support.

While all of these scenarios may sound ridiculous, it is not too much to assume that there are members of the public who will go to any lengths to get money in unscrupulous ways. They do this by preying on business owners or professional folks if they think that they can get money from them, or if they think that they can do enough damage to make the person settle out of court to spare further expense or embarrassment. Often, these people are counting on the fact that you may find it less expensive to pay them to in effect go away.

So check into public liability insurance or professional indemnity insurance. Being covered could save you a lot of money and heartache in the long run.

Who is Mark Fuglestad? Millions of people have a car, many of them escape insurance and think to save a few hundred dollars per year; until an accident happens and they are held liable for their actions. Do you know a few people like that?

Business Liability For Life

Well in business it is not different. Many thousands of businesses are opened all around the United States, and many flying under the radar without any form of proper insurance. They do not have a third party liability insurance for their business practices. They do not own a liability insurance for their staff and workers. It is all good, until something hits the fan and then all hell breaks loose.

Business Insurance Just Common Sense

The company is sued for damages. And if they manage to keep their heads above water it might still be okay. However a company without proper insurance is a sinking ship. Too much energy goes in keeping the enterprise afloat, as damages can run into the thousands and even hundreds-of-thousands of dollars. I neat insurance portfolio can keep the company away from all the hustle and bustle which goes into a lawsuit; headache after headache if the company is not properly insured. Companies need to do what they are good at - making money. Companies should ensure a solid and stable platform for their staff to work from.

The Insurance World Is Changing

Insurance Companies are aware of these problems and have changed their policies accordingly - which in terms means the small print has even become smaller. And everyone who pays their yearly dues pays more because of the extra costs involved.

The Lawyer And Solicitor Landscape Is Changing Too

Not sure if you are aware, but there is still an economic crisis out there. Not just in the USA but in every country around the globe. Companies go bust and they will be held responsible for damages. On the other hand the revenues at law firms also have been shrinking, meaning that were before a law firm would not handle cases under $50.000 they now handle cases as small as $5.000 or even less. Business liability these days is big business.

The Consumer Landscape Is Changing Too

Consumers have access to more knowledge, and are aware of their consumer rights. Meaning they know when they are able to sue a company for business liability and they do; often backed up by a team of lawyers backing up their claims. They find each other online, and team up against any company.

The advice about business insurance here is to get ready before it is too late. You could be sued tomorrow and declared bankrupt a few days later. Insure your business against unwanted claims. There are many ways to do this but it all starts with a sturdy insurance portfolio.

Who is Mark Fuglestad? Hmm, let me think... other than being an ordinary bloke who enjoys writing, photography, website and database development, software programming, playing guitar and composing music, hunting with bow and arrow, climbing trees, gardening, reading, pottery, painting and drawing - there is not really a lot that I like doing. I am a rather boring individual. Born in Kingsville, Texas, I have travelled extensively; living in Tanganyika (before independence), Tanzania (after independence), Botswana, Papua New Guinea, Germany and now settled in Christchurch, New Zealand - learning about earthquakes (the hard way). With earthquakes in mind:) it is well worth considering Public Indemnity insurance. Thanks for allowing me the privilege of being here...

What Does General Liability Insurance Really Mean?

One of your workers could slip and hurt themselves in the hallway of your workplace. To begin with, if your enterprise is not covered with any insurance most likely your company will have to find a way to pay for the hospital bills of that harmed individual.

But the consequences would go beyond that. If the injured individual has his final decision, he could file a case against you in the court due to the harm you have done unto him. The problem is that most novice entrepreneurs know little or virtually nothing about this type of coverage designed for companies. Use some practical guidance and advice to get the best policy for your company.

Check what types of business insurance how much you need to buy in line with local regulations. Most companies are required to have some types and amounts of coverage by law. You have to check what the requirements applicable to your company are and get the respective policy as soon as possible after launching your company. Usually, you will be required to have public liability coverage and product liability or professional liability coverage depending on whether you are selling a product or a service.

Take into account the size of your business and its operations when buying business insurance. This will allow you to make a better decision on what types of coverage to buy and how much. Most companies need some amount of property coverage. You should not buy too much, if you have a small office with a few computers. Similarly, you have to take into account depreciation when insuring machines so that you can save and get adequate compensation in case of an accident. Again, if you manufacture and sell goods, it is essential that you have product liability coverage. If you provide professional services from legal counseling to hair styling, you should definitely get professional liability coverage.

Do some research and collect and compare business insurance quotes. There are many different types of coverage apart from the ones that have just been mentioned. For instance, there are ones designed to protect employees and to protect you from employee inability to work. You should definitely learn more about each type and evaluate its usefulness for your company. Then you can readily collect and compare quotes as you will have a perfect idea of what you are looking for exactly.

Consider using different methods for saving on business insurance. This type of insurance does not have to be a financial burden. The simplest methods to save are to drop the types of coverage that you do not need and to buy adequate amounts of each type of coverage. You can readily take advantage of discounts and reduce your premium by increasing the deductible provided that you can afford to pay the latter out of your pocket in case of emergency.

All About Special Event Insurance

Planning special or large events can be exciting, overwhelming, and sometimes even intimidating all at the same time. Even though there can be a lot of things to think about, keep track of, and stay on top of, one thing that people tend to forget about is making sure that the affair is going to be properly insured. Fortunately, getting special event insurance doesn't have to be as difficult as it might sound, especially if you keep a few particulars in mind during your search.

Making sure that your occasion is properly insured can be important for a number of reasons. It may even be required by law, depending on your area and the type of event that you're planning to do. This is particularly the case for events that are being hosted in public areas, such as with concerts, flea markets, trade shows, farmers markets, festivals and so forth.

Numerous kinds of occasions can receive coverage. Some companies may even have policies and packages that are specifically designed for certain functions. This can include more professional-based functions, such as auto or garden shows, carnivals and sporting events. Some policies may also cater to weddings, bar mitzvahs, reunions, birthday parties and more.

In most cases, festivities or occasions that are being held in public places, or even locations that you rent out, will require some form of insurance. However, when in doubt, you can often gather more information by contacting the place itself, or the city that you plan to have it in.

Checking into the legalities can also be important when it comes to other factors or things that you may need to think about. For example, there may be certain restrictions that will apply based on the type of affair you're planning to do, the area that you wish to have it in. This can include policies on alcohol, the number of people that you can have present and so on.

Companies that offer insurance for these types of circumstances may also be able to you find out what particulars or legalities you'll need to consider. They can also help you determine what type of coverage you'll need or may want to have, and they may be able to offer alternative suggestions or package deals.

It's often a good idea to think up any questions that you have regarding certain policies ahead of time. Many people prefer to write up a list, so that nothing is forgotten. You can often ask these questions over the phone, in person, or over the internet, and you may be able to get price quotes as well.

In order to obtain the ideal special event insurance, it's important to be clear on what your goals are. This includes what you plan to do during the occasion, how many people you think will be attending, among other factors as well. In the end, the right company will be able to work alongside of you, providing you with a better chance to get the kind of financial security you might need.

Restaurant Insurance: How to Know If Your Chosen Company Is Reliable

Your business is an investment you built from your hard earned money, sweat, and even blood. Establishing your own business is a great way to earn profits and do what you love in life. What most starting entrepreneurs fail to understand is there is a need to protect their source of income. If you are starting out with your business venture, make sure to have the proper resources to keep it running and protected from possible damages and problems you might incur along the way. Business insurance may be the last thing you need to purchase for the sake of its prolonged existence.

Since the Internet can offer many insurance companies, how can you find the right one? Apart from choosing the type of insurance that suits your business, such as restaurant insurance for restaurants, what are the other signs you can use as a basis to categorize a reliable company from its counterpart on the Internet? Here are a few things you should look out for.

They are a BBB accredited business. Businesses on the Internet have many ways to establish their reputation to customers who view their website. It may be through customer testimonials done through videos or a direct quote. Another sign you can look for is if they are affiliated with third party organizations concerned with upholding the credibility and trustworthiness of businesses, including the Better Business Bureau. The BBB is an organization aiming to build a trustworthy business environment customers can trust. BBB is also responsible for notifying the public of fraudulent companies trying to transact with customers. Moreover, customers can raise their concerns and problems to BBB, making it as an evaluation site for customers to check the credibility of a company. To know whether your chosen business insurance company is credible or not, look for the BBB logo on their website, or go to the BBB website and look for the business there.

They have a secured website. A secured website uses the protocol https on their website. This is a method used by insurance and various e-commerce companies to ensure the information of their customers is kept safe and shall not be used for any other purpose. SSL certificates are used to verify the credibility of a secured website. Make sure you check the certificate of your restaurant insurance company before revealing any information to them. Identity and credit card information theft is widespread online and by transacting with companies with secured websites, you lower the risk of being a victim to such a cybercrime.

These two are among the basic signs you need to watch out for. Business insurance can save you from unexpected expenses happening day to day. Ensure you pick an insurance company with no annual sales audit with multi-line discounts available when you avail other services. You must also take note if their ratings are based on public square footage rather than sales. Taking care of your property is a basic step any business owner must do. Do so with a reliable insurance company at your back.

How Credit Affects Buying a New Car

Purchasing a vehicle is, typically, the second largest purchase that people will make behind buying a home. Because this is such a major purchase, when people apply for an auto loan, they will be asked to undergo a credit check as they are when they apply for their home mortgages. What these lenders find in these credit reports will determine how much the loan will cost these applicants, or it may persuade these lenders not to loan money to these people at all.

One of the best barometers of how good of a risk someone is for repaying a loan is the credit score, because a credit score is related to how well people manage their money. A low credit score, one that is below 650, may be this low because these people have been in the habit of paying their bills late. The one recourse people have when their customers don't pay their bills is the ability to report this fact to the credit bureaus, which makes their credit scores go down.

What a new lender will deduce from reading a credit report from an applicant that has several late payments or even non-payments of bills is that they will also have difficulties receiving the money they are owed. As lenders won't want to loan money they will have to fight to have repaid to them, they may decide to decline to give someone with a low score an auto loan. This will mean that the applicant will have to go to another lender who will also perform a credit check and could possibly refuse to give a loan to this person.

The other scenario is that the lender could agree to grant the loan, but this could be a double-edged sword. These applicants will have been approved for a loan, but they will have higher monthly payments because they will be charged a very high interest rate. When a lender discovers that someone is a high risk, this lender charges high interest to cover the increased risk the company is under.

The credit report is also where positive information is reported. If people have several years of positive repayment of their loans, they will be rewarded with high credit scores. These scores will entitle them to qualify for auto loans very easily and they will have lower monthly payments because of it. This would be because the opposite story is true; those who consistently pay all of their bills on time will be charged lower interest rates. The credit scores that are the most impressive for these lenders are those that are above 700.

The importance of maintaining a high credit score has been demonstrated in how it affects buying a new car. With the highest scores, people don't have any trouble receiving the money they need for a new car, and they pay less for it.

Megan Perry is a writer who enjoys sharing her knowledge and advice with readers. Is it a necessity or an added to cost when buying or selling a home? You may not think much about it, but carrying title insurance has its benefits, not just to the homeowner, but to everyone involved in the sale and purchase of a home.

To the Purchaser of Real Estate: The purchaser of real estate needs protection against serious financial loss due to a defect in the title to the property purchased. For a single, one-time premium, which is a modest amount in relationship to the value of the property, a buyer can receive the protection of a title insurance policy - a policy that is backed by the reserves and solvency of the Company. A title insurance policy will cover both claims arising out of title problems that could have been discovered in the public records, and those so-called "non-record" defects that could not be discovered in the record, even with the most complete search.

A title insurance policy will not only protect the insured owner, but also that person's heirs for as long as they hold title to the property, and even after they sell by warranty deed. The Company will not only satisfy any valid claim made against the insured's title, but it will pay for the costs and legal expenses of defending against a title claim.

To the Lender: The overwhelming majority of mortgage loans made in the United States are made by persons who are acting in a fiduciary capacity - by savings and loan associations, savings banks, and commercial banks on behalf of their depositors, and by life insurance companies on behalf of their policyholders. Because they are lending other people's money (other people's savings or policyholder's funds) these lenders must be concerned with the safety of their mortgage investments.

A policy of title insurance provides a mortgage lender with a high degree of safety against the loss of security as a result of a title problem. This protection remains in effect for as long as the mortgage remains unsatisfied.

To the Seller: An owner of real property whose interest is insured by an owner's title insurance policy has the assurance that the title will be marketable when selling the property. The title insurance policy protects the seller from financial damage if the seller's title is rejected by a prospective purchaser. Also, when the seller conveys with "warranties," which is traditional, the seller is still protected if the buyer sues because of a breach of those warranties.

To the Real Estate Attorney: Title insurance enables the real estate attorney to provide the client with substantially greater protection than would be afforded by the attorney's opinion alone. The attorney's opinion is only limited to recorded matters and the client can only recover from the attorney if the attorney is found to be negligent.

To the Real Estate Broker: The title insurance company and the real estate agent both seek to ensure that as many purchases as possible are closed to the satisfaction of all the principals in the transaction. From the broker's standpoint, the efficient and safe transfer of title will result in client satisfaction, increased prestige, and continued business.

Apart from the security that title insurance offers, most brokers have experienced numerous instances in which title insurance personnel have enabled them to close transactions that otherwise would have been delayed.

To the Home Builder: By providing various title insurance services and information to the home builder, the title insurance industry can and does assist the builder in identifying and evaluating building and use restrictions, easements, etc., in removing title problems that may arise, and in facilitating prompt and needed disbursement of construction funds from the construction lender. All of these services ultimately rebound to the benefit of the buyers of newly constructed homes.

When selling or buying a home, consider purchasing title insurance for security in the sale.

Save Money and Avoid Unnecessary Legal Fees With Title Insurance

Title Insurance is a special insurance that is provided to protect the purchaser of a home or property from the expenses that can be accrued through court battles over property deeds. Before the purchase is completed the Insurance Company will search the property title and deed to check for leans or discrepancies in ownership. Title insurance is designed to protect the purchaser from hidden leans and can save the purchaser from needless future costs and legal fees.

Be Careful

Be careful of cash deals. Purchasing a Florida property through another owner directly can seem simple but there are fraudulent persons who sell property knowing that the deed is false. There are other persons who unknowingly sell a property that has thousands of dollars worth of leans on it. The only safety for this is to purchase insurance. Insurance is a protection that is offered to purchasers and to the loaning facilities. Be cautious of persons who are encouraging you to forego the searches that are required to insure that the property is void of leans. You will be responsible to pay the leans that are on a property at the time of purchase. You will have to contend with a fight costly court battle if the leans are unscrupulous or fraudulent and the cost of the court battle can be hefty.

New Construction

Title Insurance is definitely necessary on a new home or construction purchase. The property or land may have hidden leans and the insurance is necessary. Do not try to cut corners by not purchasing insurance.

Insurance Protects

The insurance required will protect. Be sure to get the proper insurance that is needed for your investment. Insurance will pay the court expenses that can occur if there is a discrepancy over entitlement of the property. Insurance protects the purchasers and the purchaser's descendants for their lifetimes. Insurance will protect your home or property from fraudulent leans that may pop up claiming rights from before your ownership.

Save Money

Closing costs can be quite expensive. Commercial property and personal property can be covered with insurance. Florida Title Insurance will protect you and cover you from future costly battles and it can also save you money. Free quotes from various Title Insurance Companies can save you thousands of dollars.

The proper insurance can help save thousands of dollars and is a necessity to a purchaser. Insurance brings peace of mind and security for the lifetime of the owner. Security to your property and land from past leans and false allegations are available through Insurance. Insurance is a required fee when purchasing with a loan from a banking facility. You can still choose your own Title Insurance Company even though the bank may give a recommendation. You may very easily find a less expensive Title Insurance Company through a free online quote.

How To Detect And Avoid Fraudulent Charitable Activities - Eight Warning Signs

Unfortunately, there are people trying to take advantage of your good nature and willingness to help others. Their goal is fraudulent and selfish. They prey on your emotions and try to guilt you into sending money. Find out how to detect these scams along with some steps you can follow to avoid being taken.

Eight Warning Signs:

1. Email Solicitations: If you have not specifically requested information about making a donation and you receive an email asking for money, chances are it may be a scam.

2. Sound-Alike Organizations: Any organization that uses a name very similar to a well-known charity, may be an imposter. Check their credentials before making any contributions.

3. Early Thank You: If you receive a phone call, email or letter thanking you for your pledge or contribution, but you do not remember making one, it is probably a scam. They are hoping you will fall prey by sending money, giving them your credit card or bank information. Don't do it.

4. Courier Cash Pick Up: If the organization offers to send a courier or overnight delivery service to pick up your cash or check donation, they are a scam and could be even more dangerous if you let them near your house.

5. Bank or Credit Card Info: Any organization that tries to get your credit card or bank account information before you agree to making a donation is a scam. Avoid them and contact the authorities.

6. High Pressure: Any telemarketer that uses high pressure tactics to secure donations before you have time to check into their organization, is usually a scam.

7. Police, Fire, Natural Disasters: Be wary of solicitation for the local police, fire departments or help for victims of natural disasters. There are always scam artists trying to make a quick dollar by taking advantage of your kindness toward public servants and disaster victims.

8. Free Means Free: If an organization offers to send a free gift or enter you in a guaranteed sweepstakes in exchange for your donation, they are usually scam artists. They will take your money and provide nothing in return, other than a headache.

Steps To Follow:

1. Check out the charity with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Wise Giving Alliance at 1-703-276-0100.

2. Make sure they provide their name, address, phone number and web address, then verify each separately.

3. Resist the urge to act now. Ask them to send something in the mail that you can review later.

4. If you decide to donate, pay by check directly to the organization, not a solicitor. Better for income tax purposes and security.

5. Report fraud, deceptive or questionable organizations by calling your State's Attorney Generals office or the Federal Trade Commission at 1-877-382-4357. Don't let them prey on others.

Summary:

Anytime money is involved, there will always be unscrupulous individuals trying to take advantage of your kindness. This is even more of a problem when it comes to charitable giving because there are so many good causes out there, that it is hard to monitor the good ones, much less the scam artists. So if possible, know the charities that you want to contribute to and avoid those that approach you until you have had time to get to know them better.

To discover additional ways to help others along with financial and income tax strategies, check out my blog or download your FREE Wealth Expansion Kit by clicking here. There is such a warm feeling around the holidays. For years I was pondering to myself what could our family do together to give back to others during the holiday season? If you are pondering the same thing here is a list for you of some of the most popular ways to help Christmas charities. In addition I added some not-so-popular ways to give back as well that our family has become creative with.

Salvation Army

Every year the Salvation Army has a huge drive to collect donations, deliver meals, and wrap presents. They literally have thousands of volunteers every year sign up to help others during the holidays. This is one of the first places our family started volunteering. We decided to deliver meals and wrap presents during Thanksgiving and Christmas. This was such a great experience. It is very inspirational to see hundreds of people wrapping presents and in line early in the morning to deliver meals. Highly recommended. You can find more information at SalvationArmyUSA.org.

Make-A-Wish Foundation

The Make-A-Wish Foundation has been around for 31 years. It started with a gentleman that knew a small boy who was dying in the hospital. His health worsened so the gentleman decided to make the boys dream of becoming a police officer come true. He organized with the Arizona Dept. of Safety a ride in a helicopter, they flew him to police headquarters where he was greeted by fellow patrolmen. They gave him a uniform and swore him in has the first honorary patrolman in state history. The young boy passed on just a couple of days after seeing his dream come true.

This is a noble organization helping children with life threatening situations realize their dream before they pass on. It is an inspirational cause and organization to work with. It you go to Wish.org you will see that there are numerous ways to help the organization. It is an organization that will change your life.

Kiva.org

Kiva is such great gift during the holidays. This past Christmas I heard of Kiva from a friend. He told me "It is an organization that gives loans to small business entrepreneurs all around the world. From single mothers that want to start selling shoes in New York, to small farmers in countries you have never heard of. You donate a minimum of $25 and pick who you loan your money to. When your loan is paid back you can re-loan it or pull the money out. It is truly the gift that keeps on giving!" So I decided to give each member of my family one Kiva loan. It was great. On Christmas Day I just passed around the computer and each person decided who they wanted to donate to. A great way to bring the family together.

Toys For Tots

Toys for tots is such a great organization. They take simple donations of any size to deliver toys to children that may go without during the holidays. This is ran and founded by the Marines and ranked as one of the top Christmas charities in the world. For more information go to ToysForTots.org.

Make Your Own Charity

For those of you that have the ambition to create your own charity or fundraiser this is for you. Creating your own charity is easy and a lot of fun. Not to mention that the options are limitless when it comes to finding ways to raise money. The first and very fun way is to have a Holiday Charity party. People are going to party during the holidays anyway and it is easy to just ask the attendees to bring canned goods, a donation present for children, or charge an entrance fee for the food and drinks and send the proceeds to the charity of your choice. It is fun and it really inspires people to give more.

Being A Smart Philanthropist

There are thousands of tax exempt charitable agencies cropping up all over. In fact, surveys show that there are around 2 million not-for-profit organizations in the country. The competition for securing of donor funds therefore can be quite high.

Just like anyone else in the current economy, charities too tend to face the effects of inflation. Government budget cuts reflect quite often on them. And because the demand for services is constantly on the rise, the necessity for a constant flow of donations is vital. There are a number of ways in which charities try to approach you, via email, phone calls, representatives with really strong personalities and more. All of this can leave you completely confused on the right place to give your money to. You have to remember that most charitable organizations are transparent about their transactions, but there are a handful that are not really true to the cause.

Here is how you can be a smart philanthropist. Make sure you know all there is to know about your charity. Honest ones are very open about their functioning and provide you with all that you need to know about their processes, the way money is spent, their financials, the board of directors and all those on it, etc. A good charity will not refuse you any information that you ask for and if they do or hesitate, then you will have to be on your guard.

Make it a point to ask for a breakdown of where your money goes. Find out how much is utilized for administrative purposes and other fund raising opportunities. Ideally around 60 per cent of your donation should go to the cause that the organization is funding. Less than 40 per cent should go to other administrative needs of the organization.

Your scrutiny of the company financials will give you a good idea of how smart an organization is with their money. If you are being pressurized by any representative, do not, under any circumstance make an instant donation just to get rid of the nuisance. You never know where and how the money is being accounted for.

Always keep records of your donations and make sure you get an IRS compliant acknowledgment of each one of them. This is very important from the tax perspective. Just get online to find out the different ways in which you can do this. Giving out donations has to be done the right way if you want them to be utilized correctly.

If you have the funds and want Donate Now to a charity at all then Welcome to Touching Souls International - New York based nonprofit charity organizations actively involved in charity work for the past two decades. However, there is a fine print associated that lot of people don't know about. In most cases, when you make a credit card donation to a charitable organization, a small percentage of that goes to the bank as part of transaction fees. This means that if you meant to give a charity $100, they will get a few dollars less.

There is a certain level of comfort that people associate with making donations online through a credit card. This makes it easy and the transaction is clearly documented. But in the end you are making some bank richer for no good reason. The thing with all credit card processors is that they levy a fee on transactions. In some cases, like in Haiti and in Japan, most MasterCard and Visa banks removed the fees for online donations. But this is for a short period of time, following which it is back. Since banks too have to survive, they make a profit on these transactions.

Here is what you can do, if you want to donate and do it the right. You could choose to ignore the fact that money is going to a mediator who has no charitable cause to their credit. This is the natural order of things in the banking line and that's how it works. Or else you could choose to put in a little extra, to make up for what will actually get cut in processing, that way you have done your bit and taken care of finance matters yourself.

Always look at newer ways to give back to society. If you are making your payment online, make sure to check for legitimacy and get your acknowledgment form that is in compliance with the IRS. Always check the back ground of the organization to ensure your money is going the right places. Once you are sure, you can always make a donation online without being worried of any Income Tax issues.

Make sure you choose the right kind of organization. Look into their credentials, financials and have all of this information in writing. For those who hesitate to give you the information, it is best to steer clear of them. Making a donation, whether online or in person is quite the satisfying option. No matter what your cause, you will feel like you have done your bit.

If you have the funds and want Donate Now to a charity at all then Welcome to Touching Souls International - New York based nonprofit charity organizations actively involved in charity work for the past two decades.
