It's hard to believe sometimes that even the most beautiful people in the world were once awkward kids, growing into their gangly features and sporting the tragic trends of bygone eras. But before she married a Santo Domingo, she was just Lauren Davis - an all-American girl with an enviably lithe frame…and a modeling career that put her in the pages of Sassy…and entre to the best fraternity parties at USC. If only we had all been so blessed! Journey back in time with us as we relive Lauren's formative years from boarding school to Southern California to Greece and back.

From the looks of it, high school was a blast, but it was in college that Lauren seems to have had the most fun. In addition to donning costumes for Pi Phi theme parties (a sorority rite that some of us at GofG remember fondly) she played dress-up for Sassy, a then-popular teen magazine. And we're pretty sure that almost all of these outfits can be found once again at your friendly neighborhood Urban Outfitters.

These days, when not jet-setting to far-away playgrounds with her Colombian aristocrat husband and Euro friends, Lauren lives in New York and works as a contributing editor at Vogue. She has been a muse to Olivier Theyskens and will likely be seen in the front row at Fashion Week's best shows, not to mention the best parties at the best spots.

But never forget that this socialite was once just like us! Except really, really blessed and beautiful. Kind of just like us!

Last night, jewelry designer Lisa Salzer held the Lulu Frost Pre-Fashion Week Loan Party at the home of Lesley Blume. Guests nibbled on treats from Jennifer Lynn Pelka and after admiring the Lulu Frost Silver and Gold Collection, were loaned one or two pieces to wear during Fashion Week.

Known for her delicate designs and iridescent pearlish gems, Salzer's Silver and Gold Collection is a mix of glass stones on silver and gold chains. Some of the lucky (and we mean really lucky) onlookers who walked away with some precious goods were Fern Mallis, Amanda Hearst, Dalia Oberlander, Jenna Lyons, Andrew Bevan, and Julia Erdman.

East Villagers were displeased when Superdive brought flip-cup and "keg service" to their once-edgy hood. But EVGrieve tells us things are about to get worse with the opening of The 13th Step (from the folks behind literary salons Down the Hatch and Off the Wagon) in the old Telephone Bar space.

Superdive is an atrocity. And it taunts locals by being on the constant verge of closure. But between the winking name and over-the-top frat boy ridiculousness of the place (pour your own drinks! bring your own roofies!), you've got to assume it's in on the joke, even if none of the popped-collared douchery inside is.

So it is with a heavy, nicotine-stained heart that the few holdouts left from the neighborhood's revolutionary heyday greet The 13th Step. Why so serious? Consider the "testimonials" included on the websites of 13th Step's sister bars. There's Down the Hatch ("Hip, cool, young, rocking," with a kitchen run by Atomic Wings!). Also, Off the Wagon (something about a "crazy protractor forehead" and a quote from someone charmingly labeled "Drunk Lady"). And don't forget Jake's Dilemma ("If you venture downstairs, you won't believe your eyes" if you see a bathroom clear of vomit).

We wish the team behind The 13th Step would take a cue from their "clever" AA-inspired bar names and become anonymous.

Before the Hope, Help, Relief Haiti Benefit Party at The Standard took place, attendees had dinner at Urban Zen, where Donna Karan, Whoopi Goldberg and Wyclef Jean spoke of the tragedy that rocked the globe and urged patrons to continue donating to the cause.

Guests were came from a variety of professions, including fashion honchos Carolina Herrera, Calvin Klein, and Russell Simmons (who's a jack of all trades, really), and acting big wigs Robert De Niro and Angie Harmon. But the music industry wasn't underrepresented either: Patti Smith, Michael Stipe, the Edge, and once again, Mr. Simmons, rounded out the crowd.

Here's what we were thinking: "Ugh, Anne Hathaway, that lucky bitch, with her long legs and shiny hair and front row seats at the Giorgio Armani Prive show and adorable boyfriend and Oscar nominations and BFF-dom with Meryl Streep."

Here's what we ere not thinking: "Whoa, check out the large features and small head on Hathaway!"

Of all the "tragedies" that befall Kelly Cutrone's SoHo office during last September's Fashion Week, the intern implosion, as witnessed last night, was perhaps the least explicable. Isn't "screw up" part of an intern's job description?

Maybe not at GofG, where our interns are all fantastic, but part of the joy of working for school credit is the constant trial and error. And if you have too many errors, you can just blame it on your supervisor, who is actually receiving a paycheck and is therefore accountable. Last night on Kell On Earth, Kelly left her troop of minions with a major responsibility: label and address editors' swag bags for the Genetic Denim presentation. Of course they failed miserably, foregoing the requisite tissue bag garnish and writing with sloppy penmanship, only to stare open-mouthed when Cutrone berated them. What's an intern to do? Blame Vorhees!

Rumor has it she's fired in the next episode, but last night Stephanie Vorhees was everyone's favorite scapegoat. Can't figure out how to check people off an RSVP list? Blame Stephanie. Printer crashed? Blame Stephanie. Interns didn't sign over their off hours to work at the shows? Blame Stephanie. By the end of the second episode we cringed as each crisis was foisted on her shoulders. True, the girl is not a Cutrone-in-the-making, but she also gets pushed around a lot. Hopefully her next venture will be a little more successful.

Aside from the Stephanie subplot this episode was all over the map:

Cutrone lost a client due to her poor guest list management, for which Stefanie Skinner received most of the blame.

Andrew Mukamal wore a one-shoulder shirt to the office. (See below for proof!)

Ava got dressed for school after popping up backstage at Chado Ralph Rucci.

Skinner and the Other Andrew snuck out of the office and into a random salon where Andrew touched up Skinner's admittedly terrible roots. Just another day at the office!

As for the medical crisis at Ali Fatourechi's presentation, we were amazed that throughout the last Fashion Week we didn't hear a peep about any collapsing models. Which is exactly how it should have been! Kudos to Kelly for turning a small disaster into a perfect example of why People's Revolution is at the top of the PR game. Still one can't help but feel bad for the "model down" (shown taking oxygen, at left) who passed out for any number of reasons but was ultimately blamed for ruining Cutrone's "Swarovski crystal curtain."
