Did you know that it’s not uncommon to have dozens of tornadoes reported in the U.S. in a single day? Now you can watch the reports come in, accurately mapped in Google Earth, as events unfold.

The latest KML from the guiWeather team shows storm reports for tornadoes, damaging winds and hail, complete with descriptions of injuries and damage. This example shows a confirmed tornado in Missouri earlier in the week.

Above: Confirmed tornado and damage in Missouri. The inset shows the Places options to display reports for ‘Last 3 Hours,’ ‘Today,’ & ‘Yesterday.’ click for larger image.

You can select to view yesterday’s reports, today’s or just the most recent. When you save this to your Places directory, it will auto-update when you reopen Google Earth, and every five minutes as you keep Google Earth open.
