We need more players, especially tanks, for our 10man DS.

If your interested in tanking, we first need you to have successfully tanked LFR, and here is how it's done:

Morchock - Just taunt on 3 stacks of sundering armor or w/e.

Beach ball boss, or Zon'ozz - Either you're soloing the beach ball, or tanking the boss. The person soloing the ball just runs into the ball ten times when it glows. The tank thats tanking zon'ozz just points the boss AWAY from everyone else and just sits there.

Slime boss - You taunt whenever the other tanks has 3 stacks of Void Bolt, trying tanking the little adds whenever the black phase comes.

Hagara - Tank her away from the middle, and run away from her when she's doing Focused Assault.

Ultraxion - Tanks take turns taunting off the boss whenever they get Fading Light once you get it, and the de-buff has 2-3 seconds left you click Heroic Will one tank has to sit through every Hour of Twilight and soak it. Use a major cooldown each one.

Warmaster - Tanks take turns tanking a different set of add, the person with the second add can bring the add into the Twlight Onsault. Tanks taunt every 2-3 stacks, sometimes your de-buff will last a bit longer, so only taunt whenever your de-buff is gone. Also this boss hits like a truck even on lfr. So beware, cooldowns.

Spine - Pick up an algamation, hold it with the slimes, slimes die, add will get stacks, basically the add has to get 9 stacks. Whenever a slime dies it leaves a slime puddle, all you do is drag it over. Yell over raid chat, STOP DPS if the add is about to die before it reaches 9 stacks. Whenever it reaches 9 stacks drag it over to the plate, then it starts casting an ability, then you run away. Then tank the slimes like a good tank. Rinse and repeat 2 more times.

Madness - Tanks take turns tanking the impale and you tank the little slime dudes whenever they come. Rinse and repeat 3 more times. In phase 2, you pick up one of the two adds, if you get a de-buff called Sharpnel use your Dream button whenever the de-buff has about 3 seconds left, these adds hurt pretty bad so just spam cooldowns and rinse and repeat if they don't kill it after that.

That is how you tank every boss in Dragon Soul on LFR.

Spec Score

Spec Score is the best measure I've been able to come up with to compare specs across all fights of a given tier. The goal has been to minimize the effect a "gimmick" fight has on the overall rankings and generally normalize fights to have a common ground of comparison.

In a nutshell, each spec is scored on a curve for each fight. For each individual boss, the spec with the top DPS on a fight gets a score of 100 and then all other specs are scored according to that top spec. The average across all fights for a given spec is the Spec Score for the current tier.

As usual, this score is not the end-all, be-all measure of anything. It's merely an interesting collection of data trying to compress a whole lot of data into a single comparable value. Don't ever forget that each spec has its strengths and weaknesses and may be needed for any number of reasons. While raw numbers are absolutely an important facet of raiding, there are often other variables that are far more important.

All of that said, I think Spec Score is a far better indicator of relative spec power than a simple aggregation of DPS values from all fights. Those values are still available but I hope and pray that you understand that they have their own variety of problems and caveats.

Recruiting, Raiding, and more!

In February we should try to recruit some fresh blood and see about promoting a few officers.

I would also like to try a few new things with the guild. How about a low-pressure approach to raiding and organize a Raid Finder night and take anyone who shows up for it. Hope that enough interest eventually builds up to form a guild raiding team again. Also while recruiting we should assess exactly how many players we would need to field a raid team. If that number is two or three, it doesn't seem unreasonable to add that many players to the roster.

Hows that sound? Give me some feedback on this, in-game or on the site.

If you are like me you have many times wondered where the best location would be to farm for certain items. Here I have compiled a list of different locations where I have found to be the best to farm for items at.

Did I mention I have 10 85 alts and 2 70 arena twinks? So do many of our members! =]

We've been a tight-knit, family of friends guild since April 2008. Our officers and leadership have a strong history of raiding dating back to Vanilla and BC.

We pride ourselves in our longevity as a guild and it is because we keep it simple: it's a game, we log on to have fun, respect eachother, willingness to help others, and the neverending enjoyment of new content! Hellbent begins Firelands Reputation Runs!

Let me first point out that the turtles are mean as hell, LMAO, but the rest of the trash wasn't so bad after we learned how to face their abilities. We did two successful quick runs with 6/10 guildies present. Exile received a Theck's Emberseal and I received a Apparatus of Khaz'goroth. We also reached friendly which meant we picked up our 378 cloaks, I picked up Bladed Flamewrath Cover.

Overall, we had a blast, at least when we're ready to take on bosses, we know how to successful down the mobs to get to them! We want more guildies to come with us and we're hoping to do more of them each week til we're Exalted with the Avengers of Hyjal.

Spirit Beasts

Tamable only by BM Hunters with the 51 point Beast Mastery talent, Spirit Beasts are the most sought after rare pets in the game. Currently there are four Spirit Beasts that can be found in various parts of Northrend.

General Information

Spirit Beasts are part of the Ferocity family of pets. They have a unique skill called Spirit Mend, which is similar in nature to a Druid’s rejuvination ability.

In addition to Spirit Mend, Spirit Beasts also possess the Prowl ability, along with Claw as their focus dump.

All four Spirit Beasts are basically identical, apart from their unique models. They are neutral mobs and will not attack unless provoked either through a hostile attack or by beginning the taming process.

Spirit Beasts are rare spawn pets, which means they will not reappear again for several hours once they’ve either been killed, or tamed by another hunter. It is believed that Spirit Beasts are on a 6 hour respawn timer.

They are classified as Rare Elites, which means they hit a little harder than other mobs at their level.

The Beasts

Arcturis

Location: Grizzly Hills
Level: 74

Since he has only the one known spawn location just above Amberpine Lodge, competition for this unique pet can be quite stiff. Arcturis has the distinction of being the only bear model Spirit Beast. Arcturis is also unique in the sense that his skin is somewhat of a hybrid model of a traditional bear and a shapeshifted Druid.

Gondria

Location: Zul’Drak
Level: 77

Gondria has five spawn locations in Zul’Drak. The most popular and successful taming location seems to be the location farthest east. This cat is based upon a traditional Frostsaber model, but with a spectral appearance, glowing eyes and a whispy glow. This Spirit Beast is quite impressive looking when viewed first hand.

Loque’nahak

Location: Sholazar Basin
Level: 76

Loque’nahak was the original Spirit Beast, having been first introduced in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Due to his popularity among hunters, multiple spawn points, as well as his inclusion into the Frostbitten achievement, Loque’nahak is perhaps the most difficult of the four Spirit Beasts to acquire.

Skoll

Location: The Storm Peaks
Level: 80

Skoll has three spawn locations in the Storm Peaks. Skoll is perhaps second only to Loque’nahak in popularity. He’s also the only Spirit Beast that has a wolf (worg) model. Since he’s the only Spirit Beast that is already level 80 once tamed, this makes him a premier choice for many hunters.

As is the protocol with most beast taming, it is recommended to drop a Freezing Trap in front of you just before the tame. Prior to taming, Spirit Beasts have an ability called Pounce. Once the Spirit Beast is engaged via the taming process, it will use this ability to close the gap on a hunter. It’s not really anything to fear if a Freezing Trap is placed just in front of you, as the Spirit Beast will most often land in it and not even break the tame channeling.

Patch 4.2 - New Crafted PVP Gear

Good news! Blizzard already announced that there will be a new tier of crafted PvP gear with every new major content patch. It appears that instead of the new recipes, all of the crafted PVP gear will be getting upgraded when patch 4.2 goes live.

All existing recipes will be called "Bloodthirsty" instead of "Bloodied", the Tailoring crafted items don't have a prefix name currently, but now all of them will be called "Bloodthirsty"aswell. This gear will have an item level of 358 instead of 339. There will be a new set bonus, 400 resilience rating.

This means you don't have to buy any new recipes, all of your recipes will be upgraded to the new version when patch 4.2 comes out.

However, existing gear made with the older version of the recipes will not be upgraded. Do not stockpile the crafted gear, it won't be upgraded.

These new crafted PvP items use the same materials as the old ones.

There are also new necks, rings, relics and cloaks. All of these new items are item level 358 PvP items.

Cenarion Hatchling for Japan Earthquake Relief

Guild Hellbent's 3rd Anniversary

As we tenaciously approach our official third year of existance on April 24, 2011, let us shine a light on the history of Hellbent: our successes, our failures, and our future from a GM's point of view. It is lengthy, but it is hard to put three years in such few words. Grab a cup of tea and get ready for the journey into our past.

I think our biggest accomplishment in our three years is we always treated WoW as a game. Yep, we play a game, believe it or not. Pixels on a screen. A game where our friends, family, and complete strangers could enjoy the company of fellow guildmates, united in common goals such as downing new content, and just having fun together.

10man ICC - LK Falls again, 4th time!

Once again we bring a few quality pugs with the guild and take down the Lich King as well as Heroic Saurfang (and ship, duh, lol)!! :)

On Oct. 24th, we took with us Thorius (prot pally and off heals for LK) (ryan), Ohboyoberto (resto all the way) (me), Samdasham (enh sham), Jackdean (resto sham)/Edaggs (prot warr) (congrats on KS), Angelicmikey (friend of guild), and quality pugs - Kazuky (mage), Ramulus (fury warr), Malarus (boomkin/offheals), Shøck (ele sham) and Surgetz (prot pally).

We downed LK after 11min 56 secs which is actually a very swift and quick kill!!! :) 5 mins faster than when I killed LK on Incision to give you an idea which was 16 mins 17 secs and Tamahanu's kill which was 14 mins 33 seconds. So we totally pwned his ass this time!!!

Congrats to all the new Kingslayers and pugs whom joined us that weekend of October 24, 2010!

Hellbent strikes down LK 10m again

Well well well ;)

Once again, we find ourselves at the summit before LK, bringing with us new guild mates and friendly new pugs.

And what do we do? We come together as a unit, persevere, and defeat the Lich King. That's how we roll, we get shit done and have fun doing it after all that's what casual guilds are best known for: having a grand ol' time while taking care of business!!! (and no I don't mean redtube lol)

Hellbent now has several Kingslayers among us. Please welcome our new brothers and sisters to this fraternity of champions, Samthasham, Volramas, Incision (me) and Thorius (played by Ryan) are now Kingslayers. We brought with us this week a few fellow Horde to help us accomplish this feat, Angelicmikey, Ginroc, Smokingbull, Toren, Goaf, and Chongoz are also victors of the Lichking for their first time. I couldnt be more proud of this fine group of players.

What seperates us from other guilds has always been our ability to blend in nice with the community, keep our composure, set an example, set a goal (for example getting more KS's in the guild) and getting it done. Sometimes the battle may be long, may be trying on the group, but we always seem to rise above and come through with great leadership. I'm very proud of how everyone improved, kept at it, and now you can enjoy what others bare in Dalaran the proud title of <the Kingslayer>. 3 KS's out of 9 80's for me, 6 more to go :P heehee

I'd also like to mention that we took guildies Danyeal and Rellokore with us as well but unfortunately they could not make the rest of the journey with us. We also had Avath and Minato, two very promising PuGs with us earlier in the raid as well. Unfortunately Bawler, Earwigg, Anzeldust, Strekor, did not help our cause, but I do appreciate their attempts to contribute to the raid this week.
