Aerosmith Exclusively on Guitar Hero

Its no suprise with so many rhythm games coming out now-a-days that companies would start trying to get exclusive deals with bands so they could be the only ones cash in on their popularity.

The first sign of this is coming for Activision upcoming game Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, it was recently found out that Aerosmith is exclusive to the Guitar Hero Series for an undisclosed length of time.

Tim Riley, Activisions Vice president of music affairs has stated "I can say that we do have the band exclusively, and their catalogue should be exclusive to us beyond the one or two tracks they had licensed out to Rock Band before we made our deal."

So don't expect to hear or see Aerosmtih songs in any other band or music related games for the forseeable future.

I think its interesting that companies are doing this, in a way you have to. It wouldn't be that hard for another company to copy them or for Harmonix to include all the Aerosmith songs in a download pack or in an upcoming game of theirs.

Now I'm wondering what other kinds of exclusive deals with bands exist or may pop up soon.

Nyko Frontman Guitar for Wii / PS3 Release Date

The release date for the Nyko Frontman for Wii and PS3 seems to keep moving. When the Wii version of the Guitar Controllers came out on the 15th at Amazon, they were almost immediately "unavailable", same thing at Buy.com. The only other dates I could find were from DDRGame, which say the Frontman Guitar Controllers come out March 24th. DDRGame is a reliable seller of Guitar Hero merchandise and they allow you to preorder the Nyko Frontman for Wii or PS3 so I trust their date a bit more. Plus it's the same date Amazon now has for the Nyko PS3 Frontman.

The official Nyko site says that the controllers will be released in April, so the end of March beginning of April seems to be around the time the real release date will be.

Also be sure to check out the official Guitar Hero Guitar Controllers which are now on sale at RedOctane. This is great because finally you can get a separate Guitar Controller without having to buy an extra bundle.

I wonder why they didn't release the official guitar controllers sooner especially on systems like the Wii where it was in extremely high demand.

I also created a new Guitar Hero Guitar Controllers section so people can specifically find places online to buy Nyko Frontman Guitar for Wii or PS3 and the Official Guitars for all systems.

Guitar Hero 3 Rock Band Compatibility on Nyko PS3 Frontman:

Last thing, some people are wondering. Is the PS3 Frontman Wireless Guitar compatible with Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band? The answer is, yes.

I got the official word back from an e-mail I sent to Nyko asking about the compatability, they said:

"The PS3 Frontman Guitar Controller is compatible with "Rock Band" on the PS3 and PS2, and Guitar Hero on the PS3 only.

It is not compatible with PS2-gen Guitar Hero games on the PS3 via backwards compatibility. The PS3 Frontman is only compatible with PS3-gen Guitar Hero games on the PS3."

So you can't play the Playstation 2 games on Playstation 3 through backwards compatibility with the new Nyko Frontman Guitar, but you can switch over to play Rock Band on the PS3 or PS2 which is nice to finally have.

Is Guitar Hero: Aerosmith Guitar Hero 4

First, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith is NOT Guitar Hero 4 it's the middle game between Guitar Hero 3 and Guitar Hero 4 just like Guitar Hero: Encore was to Guitar Hero 2 and Guitar Hero 3.

Also, if it's going to be any number it should be Guitar Hero 5 because the timeline looks like this:

1.) Guitar Hero 1

2.) Guitar Hero 2

3.) Guitar Hero: Encore Rocks the 80's

4.) Guitar Hero 3

(some really smart people leave the company)

5.) Guitar Hero: Aerosmith - Hi, I'm the fifth game...

So why people call it GH4, I don't know. I think it's because Guitar Hero: Aerosmith was completely unexpected and almost seems like it was thought of at the last second. While people have been salivating over and expecting Guitar Hero IV since Guitar Hero III came out. So when they heard of a Aerosmith Guitar Hero they thought Activision had REALLY gone in another direction by making the rest of the Guitar Hero games about one band.

Don't worry, even Activisions not that crazy. Well...

So this June we get Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, hopefully they took that opportunity to try new things in the game for GH4. Then we should see Guitar Hero: On Tour for the DS and Guitar Hero 4 ( with multiple bands ).

It will be really interesting to see what Activision does or doesn't do with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero 4, but they are definatly not the same game.

Looks like the rumors were true about the official standalone Guitar Hero 3 Wireless Controllers being released in March 15th because they are now available for Preorder at RedOctane with a release date of March 15th.

Get yours today while you still can, because there will probably be a mad frenzy when everyone realises they can finally get an extra controller.

Game Development:

Once again the development team has been slightly shifted for the making of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.

Neversoft will develop the Xbox 360 and PS3 version.

Vicarious Visions will develop the Wii version.

And Budcat is develiping the PlayStation 2 version.

What do you think about so many different developers working on the games for the seperate systems, do you think there will be any drastic differences between the games on each of the systems?

Guitar Hero 3 Nyko Wireless Guitar Controllers have been spotted for pre-order, follow the links below to learn more about the Nyko Frontman Guitars for Wii and PS3.

Nyko, the makers of many video game accessories, will be releasing their Guitar Hero 3 Wireless Guitar Controllers for Wii and PS3 / PS2 in ~~the first half of~~ March ( See Release Dates Below ). These are the first third-party Controllers ever being released for the Wii and also the first Guitar Controller that allows you to play both Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band.

Update: The Nyko Frontman Guitar's Release Date has changed a little in some places.

New Guitar Hero 3 Stats Viewer

I just finished working on the new Guitar Hero 3 Stats section, which allows you to view all of your Guitar Hero 3 Stats, High Scores and more in a different format than you see on the regular Guitar Hero site especially the High Scores area.

Below is some quick info about the new section.

How do I see my stats?

1. Go to the Guitar Hero 3 Stats section.

2. Enter your Account ID.

3. Click the "Get Stats" button.

What data does Guitar Hero 3 Stats show?

1. Player Details username, state, cash, groupies, rocker status

2. Xbox Live Stats

3. Campaign Stats

4. Recent Performances

5. and High Scores

Where does this data come from?

The data comes from the Guitar Hero 3 XML feed which allows you to request player stats and data in XML format by Account ID.

Are there any plans for updates?

Yes. I will be adding more features soon, I only started this a few days ago so I guess it could be considered a "beta". :)

How do I report an error?

If you find any errors please contact me so I can fix the problem as soon as possible.

Just remember, I have no control over the accuraccy of the actual stats because they come from the official Guitar Hero servers. ( Although I may have accidently mis-labeled some items. )

Guitar Hero 3 Guitar Controller Release Date and Price Rumor?

Rumors surfaced from a few small sources that standalone Guitar Hero 3 Guitar Controllers could be released around March 2008. But now, other prominant sites have struck down the rumor as a meer myth and the pages with the controllers listed have vanished so whats really going on?

The rumor claims that the new standalone Guitar Hero 3 Controllers were listed in the Red Octane online store for a short period of time and that the Xbox 360 and PS3 guitar controllers will be $69 USD while the Wii's will be $59.

This rumor is believable because Red Octane are the offical makers of guitar hero controllers, so if they did accidently post a date it was probably the right one or close.

Also, Red Octane frequently puts up items that are set to be released months in the future. For example they just did this with their upcoming "Guitar Hero 3 Bundles with two Guitar Controllers for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii" which just started being listed a few days ago on their site and guess what, the release date is set to March 2008.

So it's very possible they made a mistake when entering items into their database which made the controllers temporarily viewable to the public; but when I e-mailed a Red Octane representative asking about a release date for the stand alone guitar controllers they replied with this:

"From the info given so far, we still do not have a solid release date for the stand alone controllers." - RedOctane

So, the official word is that there is no solid release date yet for stand alone Guitar Hero 3 controllers, but based on what we've learned, some time during March 2008 is probably a good guess as to when they will be released.

Its taken standalone Guitar Hero 3 controllers so long to come out at this point that I'm sure you're foaming at the mouth by now; and when they finally are released they'll probably be as hard to find as the game was. With this in mind, you'll be able to easily find them in stock at our Guitar Hero Shop, so if you plan on getting an extra Guitar when they're released just bookmark one of the links below.
