Our apartment community’s tennis courts are one of the many amenities you’ll discover at Gulfstream Isles Apartments. It doesn’t matter if you’re just learning the game of tennis or have had it mastered for years, our courts are welcome to all residents. Here are some tips for beginners:

Make your opponent work: Tennis can be very tiring. Making your opponent tired can work as a huge advantage to you, and the best way to do this is to hit the ball all over the court to make them chase the ball as much as possible.
Nice and easy swing: It’s so tempting to want to crush the ball with all your power, but more often than not, the end result will be you hitting it into the net our out of bounds.
Follow through: Your follow through plays a big part of your shot. The more you follow through towards the direction of where you want the ball to go, the further the shot will generally go. So, if you’re looking to drop a short shot, use less follow through on your swing.

Walk in closets can be a beautiful thing, but not when you open the door to a mess. With just a bit of work, you can easily organize your Gulfstream Isles walk-in closet.

The first thing you need to do is go through all your belongings to decide what to keep, donate and discard.
Go through everything you are keeping and place everything you are not planning to wear this season into a storage bin. The bin can go in the back of the closet until you need to get in it.
Categorize everything you want to hang up, such as casual, dress and swimwear. For each category, hang everything by size.
Pants, shorts, pajamas and other clothes you do not mind folding can go in your drawers.
Your accessories can go on the top of the drawer in baskets, storage containers and jewelry boxes. Use a hat rack for your favorite hats.
A shoe bench is perfect for storing your shoes and creating an area to sit and dress. If you cannot use a shoe bench, a shoe rack and chair will work.

Go Fishing in Ft. Myers for Father’s Day

This year, start Father’s Day off early by taking Dad out for a fishing trip. The morning sun, the smell of the lake and the quiet time which you both get to spend together will be priceless. There is no better gift that you can give to Dad than a long chat and some good company.

For a more low key fishing adventure try out shore fishing with Dad. Head to Sanibel Causeway, Lovers Key State Park or South End Bridge. All you need is a reel and you are ready to cast off. This type of fishing can last anywhere from a full day to an hour, it is all up to you and Dad. When you have brought in your catch you will be ready to go home and grill up dinner.

We know baking is something most of our residents enjoy, and our open kitchen is the perfect place for it. If baking is something you truly enjoy, we suggest using the following apartment living tips to organize the perfect baking cabinet.

The first thing you will need to do is create a checklist of essential baking tools to make sure you have everything you need. Measuring cups and spoons, baking sheets and mixing bowls are just a few tools to include on the list.

Figure out how you want to organize your cabinet. You can organize it in order of what usually comes first when baking. Bowls and baking sheets can go on the top shelf, while measuring utensils and can on the next shelf down. You can also categorize your tools, such as bowls, measuring utensils and pans.

Include ingredients that do not need to be refrigerated, such as flour, sugar and spices. You can also store boxes of cake, cookie or brownie mix in your cabinet as well.

5 Things to Not Put Down Your Garbage Disposal

Garbage disposals are a great tool to have and can make cleaning much easier and faster. You may think you can put just about anything in your garbage disposal, but that is not the case. There are plenty of things that should be thrown in the trash instead. Here are five things not to put down your garbage disposal.

Pasta and noodles: Pasta and noodle actually enlarge in water, so putting it down a garbage disposal is not a good idea. They won’t be able to be broken down enough to make it thoroughly down.
Bones: Chicken bones, pork chop bones, etc. should not go down the disposal. They are far too hard to be broken down by the blades.
Grease: Just like grease will clog your heart’s arteries, it will clog the walls of the disposal drain, eventually causing it to clog.
Stringy vegetables: Stringy vegetables may break down some, but the strings will get wrapped around the blade, causing a mess.
Plastic/fabric/paper: Any of these products should be thrown in the trash instead.

It’s fairly easy to reach many of the attractions located in the area using public transportation. You will also want to consider using public transportation options to travel to and from work. This will make your commute much easier.

The bus has several routes that make it easier for residents to get to and from different places around Fort Myers. 5 Pool Exercises You Can Do at Our Community Pools

Gulfstream Isles has four beautiful sparkling pools for you to choose from throughout the community. Here are five pool exercises you can do to loose some weight and feel great!

Chaos Cardio- Create a few currents in the pool and then run through them. This simple exercise takes jogging to the next level! This pool exercise is great for building core muscles.
Spiderman- Climb the side walls of the pool the climb back down. keep our arms angled down and back, away from your body. This is great for your back and core.
Do forward lunges- Just like you do normal lunges, but the resistance from the water will increase the effectiveness of the workout.
March Laps in the Pool- Lift your knees high as you use your arms for momentum. This exercise will work your thighs and core.
Swimming-Simply swim a few laps at a time taking breaks as needed. This will work your whole body!

5 Tips for Cleaning Up Pet Messes

For wet stains: Blot up as much as you can, as quickly as you can, using a layer of white paper towels. Apply ample pressure to the paper towels, but don’t scrub or rub.
For dry stains: Dampen the spot with water using a sprayer bottle or towel. You want to carefully mist the spot, not flood it! Now soak up the water using paper towels. Continue to mist and soak up the water until the stain is gone.
Always remove solid waste by scraping it off the surface with a spoon or knife. Many tenants in pet friendly apartments keep an extra set of pooper-scooper bags handy for such indoor accidents.
For stubborn odors and tricky stains, try pet enzyme cleaners which are available in pet stores and supermarkets.
