	The International Department is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the international collection and for providing customer service to library patrons. Student assistants are hired and trained to assist the staff with various tasks in support of these goals. Students with a demonstrated aptitude for customer service will also receive training in order to be able to assist at the circulation desk.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;Duties&lt;br /&gt;
	1.&amp;nbsp;Filing looseleaf materials&lt;br /&gt;
	2.&amp;nbsp;Retrieving problem materials from the collection for further action by staff&lt;br /&gt;
	3.&amp;nbsp;Re-shelving materials&lt;br /&gt;
	4.&amp;nbsp;Reviewing the order of materials on the shelf for proper location&lt;br /&gt;
	5.&amp;nbsp;Data entry&lt;br /&gt;
	6.&amp;nbsp;Photocopying, general office support, and other duties as assigned&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	Qualifications&lt;br /&gt;
	Required: eligible for the Federal Work Study program&lt;br /&gt;
	Required: accuracy and attention to detail&lt;br /&gt;
	Required: good typing and computer skills&lt;br /&gt;
	Desirable: foreign language ability in Spanish, German, or French&lt;br /&gt;
	Desirable: ability to search catalog and understand records&lt;br /&gt;
	Desirable: knowledge of legal publications&lt;/p&gt;

	Williams Circulation On Call Student Assistant&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

	For On Call students, the hours are not guaranteed each week.&amp;nbsp; We need students who are flexible and can work evenings and weeks when the regular person is not available.&amp;nbsp; These hours include Friday 5PM-12 Midnight&amp;nbsp;and Saturday 4PM -10PM.&lt;br /&gt;
	&lt;br /&gt;
	Student assistants work in the Access Services department as Circulation Desk Assistants and Media Student assistants.&amp;nbsp; The overall goal of the Circulation Department is to support the academic and intellectual life of the Georgetown Community by providing quality public service.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	Circulation Desk Assistants&lt;br /&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;The student assistant is responsible for the services relating to the borrowing privileges of the library patrons.&amp;nbsp; Students also assist in the maintenance of the Reserve collection.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;Responsibilities&lt;br /&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;1.&amp;nbsp;Assist patrons at the Circulation Desk, answer informational inquiries, and provide effective service to all library patrons.&lt;br /&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;2.&amp;nbsp;Refer patrons to the correct departments for non-circulation inquiries&lt;br /&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;3.&amp;nbsp;Perform circulation transactions according to library policies.&lt;br /&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;4.&amp;nbsp;Resolve unusual problems and disputes appropriately.&lt;br /&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;5.&amp;nbsp;Shelve all Reserve material when returned to the Circulation Desk.&lt;br /&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;6.&amp;nbsp;Check the work shelf for incoming periodicals upon arrival.&amp;nbsp; Shelve the journals in the Reserve collection.&lt;br /&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;7.&amp;nbsp;Date and file slip opinions as they arrive.&lt;br /&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;8.&amp;nbsp;Shelf-read the assigned sections of the Reserve collection.&lt;br /&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;9.&amp;nbsp;Other projects as assigned.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	Ability to communicate effectively.&amp;nbsp; Attention to detail.&amp;nbsp; Previous experience in library desirable but not essential.&amp;nbsp; Structured work schedule may include evenings and weekends.&lt;/p&gt;

	&lt;strong&gt;Georgetown University Law Library Work Study Position&lt;br /&gt;
	Mailroom, Acquisitions Department&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
	&lt;br /&gt;
	Nothing in the unit can be done if the mail is not opened.&amp;nbsp; Post Office mail delivery times can be inconsistent so check the room periodically for any sign of delivery.&amp;nbsp; Ideally, the mail is sorted and opened upon its arrival.&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;
	&lt;br /&gt;
	The priority for opening the mail is as follows:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		1st serials, 2nd ILL &amp;amp; priority mail, 3rd boxes, 4th first class mail.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	Morning and afternoon mail runs:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		Morning run should be done between 10:00 - 11:00 am&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		Afternoon run should be done between 4:00 - 5:00 pm&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	Responsibilities:&lt;br /&gt;
	The mail room has several bins that need to be delivered to the appropriate locations:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ol&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		Take any mail in the &amp;quot;in-house&amp;quot; box up to the Staff Lounge to be sorted and distributed in the individual mail boxes.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		The basket in Craig&amp;#39;s incoming mail box truck is the reviewed &amp;quot;junk mail&amp;quot; which is then placed in the &amp;quot;Junk Mail&amp;quot; box in the staff lounge.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		Take &amp;quot;ILL material&amp;quot; to ILL office.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		The &amp;quot;outgoing campus mail&amp;quot; along with the check-in material placed in the mail room cart is taken across to the Law Center Mail Room, 5th floor McDonough and sorted and distributed into the individual mail boxes.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		The posted outgoing US mail is taken to McDonough and placed next to the mail box on the wall of the F Street corridor for the post office folks to pick-up.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		While at each location (staff lounge, ILL office, and law center mail room) you need to pick-up all of that location&amp;#39;s library mail.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	Requirements&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		Student must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job, which involves movement, light lifting, and moving of book carts.&amp;nbsp; Ideally 2 hours a day would be good but hours may be scheduled in order to accommodate student class and study schedules.&amp;nbsp; 10 hours per week.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;

	Interlibrary Laon Borrowing Student Assistant&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;The Interlibrary Loan Department loans materials from our collection to libraries across the country and borrows articles and books from other universities for Georgetown students and faculty.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	Students will learn how to search the library&amp;rsquo;s computer catalog and online journal indexes, how legal materials are organized and how the library collection is organized.&amp;nbsp; They will also learn how to read legal citations and how to find materials in our library.&amp;nbsp; These skills will be very helpful when doing their course work and legal research.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;&lt;u&gt;Responsibilities&lt;/u&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ol&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		Physical processing of received ILL materials for distribution.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		Physical delivery of ILL materials to various library or campus locations.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		Scanning received ILL articles for electronic delivery.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		Physical processing (wrap, address and package) items for secure return shipment to lending library.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		Filing.&lt;/li&gt;
	&lt;li&gt;
		Various duties as assigned (e.g. projects with Head of Reference).&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;
&lt;p&gt;
	&amp;nbsp;&lt;u&gt;Requirements&lt;/u&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
	&lt;br /&gt;
	The pace is fairly busy and students are required to complete their work in a timely fashion.&amp;nbsp; Attention to detail and accuracy required.&lt;br /&gt;

	&lt;u&gt;Schedule requirement&lt;/u&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
	&lt;br /&gt;
	10-12 hours per week, minimally four days/week Monday-Friday, during business hours (9am-5pm). Afternoon work hours preferred.&lt;/p&gt;
