1 Chart House

Full of charm and elegance, this restaurant runs out of a building dating back to 1790. It was originally a cotton warehouse until it was remodeled this past century. It’s located along the river along with many other historic buildings that were once used for the same purpose. Chart House is considered the most scenic place to dine in the entire city! The restaurant offers deck seating, where you can view the traffic traveling up and down the river as the sun sets across the bay. Perfect romantic spot, right? Indeed! Lucas Theatre

Israel May Be Running Out of Time

After killing 50 civilians in a bombing raid Israel is now under intense pressure to call a ceasefire. The same event is also putting pressure on Israel's chief backer the Americans to support it. So far they have quite obviously been trying to buy time for Israel to drive Hezbollah out of Lebanon. A task which Global Eye has previously argued is practically impossible. The only way to weaken this group is to somehow cut off the funding from its chief backers - Iran and Syria. Right now that seems highly unlikely.

One of the consequences of Israel's bombing is that Hezbollah will be stronger than ever once a ceasefire is called - maybe by the end of the week according to Hillary Clinton. Basically, it appears that Israel has been selectively punishing the civilian population to make them pressure Hezbollah to stop firing rockets at Israeli towns. However, if this was the strategy it has badly backfired

In the meantime, Israel's image is in tatters and any sympathy for them around the world being on the front line of terrorism is steadily ebbing away.

Steel is an important product manufactured around the world. Cold rolled steel is also one of the most important and profitable exports that a country can have.

The largest steel producer in the world is China, which produced just over 683 million tons of steel last year. This far exceeds Japan who holds the number two position with just almost 108 million tons of steel produced.

India is quickly learning to produce steel and is expected to gain the number two position by 2013. They hope to be able to produce 120 million tons of steel during 2013.

ArcelorMittal in Luxembourg produced just over 97 million tons of steel bar last year making it the largest single producer of steel in the world. Most of the steel produced by ArcelorMittal is large steel beams used in building manufacturing. The 1WTC in New York City is constructed of steel made by ArcelorMittal as are the Grand National Theatre in Beijing and the polar research station in Antarctica. Other important venues made of this steel include the Johannesburg, South Africa Soccer City and Wembley Stadium in London.
Seventy five percent of all steel imported in the world is imported into third world countries. Most of these countries, however, are so small that their figures do not show up in international trade statistics.
The largest importer of steel is South Korea. South Korea imported over 22 million tons of steel last year. China imported the second most amount of steel with almost 16 million tons. Both of these countries imported almost ten percent less steel than they did the year before. Rounding out the top five countries are Thailand, Indonesia and India.

The largest change in importing steel was seen in Singapore. Singapore imported almost 29 percent more steel when figures are compared to the year before. That was closely followed by Japan who imported 25 percent more steel than when figures are compared the year before.

When steel is manufactured for exportation, it is loaded onto large trucks and taken either to the port or to the railroad that takes it to a port. The Port of Antwerp in Belgium handles more hot rolled steel than any other port in the world. This port receives many shipments leaving other European countries bound for other countries. The port is able to handle shipments from other boats, from trucks and from the railroad. The Port of Antwerp handled 12 million tons of steel last year.

Regardless of whether a company is importing or exporting steel, the product must be moved effectively. Many companies report that the lack of communication is a major problem for companies.
