There is no fast way to recuperate from surgery. I recently had a hysterectomy and my doctor ordered me to take it easy and rest at home for four weeks, which also meant that I could not drive. That is a horrible feeling, one that strips away a person’s independence. The situation also lets you know who your friends truly are. My beautiful daughters helped me out immensely, as did my really close friends. They brought me meals and crossword puzzles and ran errands for me. Living in California is a good thing too. I sat outside every day for a couple of hours basking in the warmth of the sun, absorbing some Vitamin D. I have never been much of a television watcher because I just do not have a lot of time when I get home from work each day. But being homebound presented an opportunity to watch more television. Through Garden Grove direct tv I had way more channels than I had this time last year so I had a lot to watch – I’ve gotten really into all those Lifetime movies!

My friends and I were having a very interesting discussion about Facebook last night. While Facebook is a wonderful thing and something I am grateful for, I wonder if there is a little too much information on it. Nowadays, everyone is on Facebook. However, it has created an awkward line between being normal with your facebooking and being a facebook stalker. Sadly, I am starting to think more people are becoming facebook stalkers. I am sure satellite internet was initially intended to be used to gain knowledge of current events, pop culture and research. However, it seems people spend more time facebook stalking other people than actually talking to real people. The internet has become a place where everyone’s personal life is up for display. I am still wondering if this is a good thing or a bad one.

It’s pretty safe to say that dad’s not great with technology – we tried to get him a cell phone last year and he promptly broke it in half trying to “close” it. He’s a lot more comfortable with a typewriter than a laptop and he wouldn’t know what an iPad was if it jumped up and bit him. I love him to death but everything from teaching him to work the new TV remote to showing him how to operate the HOME SECURITY KEYPADis a MAJOR struggle at home. It’s funny because my mom’s far more into what’s new and modern and she does her best to keep the house updated and my dad at least somewhat in the loop.
