Before I left the house, I grabbed two pictures of my dad. One of the pictures is when he was about 24 years old. Mom found it in some of his old army photos and said how we closely resembled each other. I was glad I grabbed the pictures at the last minute. To be honest, I'm not sure when or if I'll ever be fortunate to be a dad myself. This is something I think about from time to time. My life is...let's just say...not exactly falling in line with the "norm". But, life isn't over yet and anything can happen.<br /><br />When the evening service was over, a few of the older deacons invited me to dinner at the Cotton Patch. It was unexpected and nothing really prompted that. However, these are men who are well respected in our church and I certainly respect them. They also have a good sense of humor and it made the day a little sweeter.<br /><br />I'm fortunate to be able to look at my dad's picture and say, "what a great dad you were"...even though there was that 46 year old generation gap. There are so many things I learned about him after he was gone that I wish we could talk about.
