Welcome to the future where as a society we have moved on from photoshop to augmented reality apps that provide fans of the Superbowl winning New York Giants to be able to try on the any of the 4 championship rings and even the Lombardi trophy made by famous jewelry store, Tiffany and Co.

Using the app, fans are able to snap a picture of themselves in random poses and then share those pictures via various social networks. The Giants website and Facebook page plan on featuring the best fanshots for all to see.

Everyone loves cosplay when it’s A) well done and B)anything that involves Disney characters. Luckily for all of us, the cosplay shoot for Ariel and her sisters from The Little Mermaid is exceptionally well done.

Each of the sisters is represented, along with some random merman who were all shot by Lunnaya Nadejda (aka DeviantARTist Usagi-Tsukino-krv).

Tom Brady’s dad caused a stir this week when he made the comment that if he knew now what he knew then he might not have let his son play football in the first place (back when the younger Brady was just a kid).

Some fans dismissed the talk as hyperbolic overreaction to the growing concerns about traumatic brain injury and the apparent unpleasant fact that every player in the NFL is at risk, but there’s nothing hyperbolic about it.

This is a real problem, and one the NFL is taking seriously. They’d better.

You can file this under “ ESPY nameplate to be engraved” because there is no doubting this catch by Lower Columbia College’s freshman outfielder Derrick Salberg is a sure win for the Play of the Year.

Before you watch the video of the spectacular catch, let me set the scene as it was the bottom of the 9th with Salberg’s team ahead 4-2, with two outs and a runner was on first during the first round of the NWAACC Baseball Championships when this happened....

You’ve probably heard about the lawsuits/blood feud between Activision and former Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella, but this is something you wouldn’t expect to hear: details about Bungie’s agreement with Activision, code-named “Destiny”. The project calls for four sci-fi action shooters to be released every two years starting in 2013. Don’t expect to hear anything about it at E3, though.

I was unaware of this, but Luke Skywalker himself, Mr. Mark Hamill, provides the voice for Joker in Batman: Arkham City. You can see him in action, along with Batman voice Kevin Conroy and the lovely Stana Katic (Talia), in this behind-the-scenes video.

Bad news from Rhode Island: 38 Studios, founded by former Major League pitcher Curt Schilling and the creators of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, laid off its entire staff. Big Huge Games, acquired 38 Studios in 2009, also had to let go all of its employees. All told, nearly 400 people lost their jobs.

Navy's DV Embark Program: Landing, Staying Overnight and Taking Off on the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier

The DV program is basically the Navy's effort to raise awareness to civilians of the day to day work that goes into keeping this country safe. The program has existed for a while but only recently has the focused switched from inviting military retirees to inviting civilians with little to no military background (particularly women) and opening their eyes to day to day life as a sailor.

It consists of a group of about a dozen people from all walks of life, who fly onto an aircraft carrier that is out to sea, stay the night on board the ship and take off from the carrier the next day.

In a nutshell, its a trip of a lifetime that a lucky few will never forget.

In 2004, America was introduced to a different kind of TV show - a “medical mystery” in which the challenge each week was to simply find out what was wrong with the patient. The show also introduced one of TV’s great iconic characters, Gregory House, M.D. (Hugh Laurie), a partially disabled, pill gobbling miscreant who didn’t really care whether the patients lived or died but sure as HELL wanted to know why. To that end, he’d lie to the patient, their family, the other doctors, or send his team to break into people’s apartments and snoop around, basically crossing any ethical line necessary to get the job done.

MLB Female Fan Series: Reva Frieda of the Whitesox & Redsox

Welcome to another addition to our 2012 MLB Female Fan series where we feature all the die hard female fans that support their team through 162 games, hot weather, heated rivalries and good old fashioned baseball traditions.

During the series we will feature women for every franchise and their stories on how they became a baseball fan, who their hated rivals are, what their favorite food at the ballpark etc etc.... Ladies are chosen simply by contacting us (email link) and answering a few questions on why they fell in love with the great game of baseball and we get to share in someone else's baseball traditions that could the same as our own.

Next up is overall hardcore sports fan Reva who is considered a fairly new fan of the game of baseball, within that time, she certainly has earned her stripes being both a fan of the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox.
