U.S. Air Force Plans to buy Tablets for Flightcrew Members and Trainers

The Air Force’s Air Mobility Command (AMC) plans to buy thousands of iPad 2-type tablets for crews that fly cargo aircraft for flightcrew members and trainers to replace the paper charts and technical manuals crews now have to carry. The Air Force is moving to electronic manuals like the aviation industry, after the Federal Aviation Administration approved iPads for use in the cockpit during commercial flights in December.

Korea Forest Service Accepts Frasca Helicopter FTD

The Korea Forest Service, Republic of Korea, has completed factory acceptance of its Level 7 AS350B2 Helicopter Flight Training Device (FTD) built by Frasca International. The FTD will be installed at the Korea Forest Service’s training facility later this month.

NGC Wins $103 M Training Support Task Order

The U.S. Department of the Interior has awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation a three-year, $103 million contract to support the Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP). Northrop Grumman will provide support to the National Guard Bureau Mission Training Complexes (MTC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Camp Dodge, Iowa, and Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania.

Concurrent Real-Time has announced that Hyundai Rotem, a worldwide leader in ground weapon systems, has deployed 176 ImaGen™ visual servers powered by the RedHawk™ Linux real-time operating system. The ImaGen servers will be used in the Phase I deployment of image generators for the K-Series Platoon Simulator Program. The full deployment is expected to include approximately 350 ImaGen servers over one year.

SAIC Awarded $15 Million Transportation IT Modernization Task Order

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) was awarded a task order by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) to provide information technology (IT) modernization services in support of Portal Modernization Stage Two of FMCSA's IT Modernization Program. The follow-on task order has a one-year base period of performance, two six-month options, and a contract value of more than $15 million if all options are exercised.
