Haute-tempered fashion icon Naomi Campbell was on the lam Tuesday night after cops said she beat up her driver in a Manhattan meltdown. Police were combing the city for the 39-year-old catwalk diva, last seen wearing a black designer coat and running through the bustling streets of midtown. It was unclear if at the time of the incident she was in possession of a cell phone – her weapon of choice in at least two past assaults involving hired help.
Miodrag Mejdina, 27, of Queens, complained that Campbell slapped and slugged him while he drove her through midtown in a Cadillac Escalade. Tuesday night, he declined to press charges. Police issued a harassment report, which doesn’t carry any penalty. But cops still weren’t calling off the search for the bratty Brit. <!–more–>

“He said Ms. Campbell had struck him in the back of the head or neck while he was driving, causing him to hit his head on the steering wheel,” Browne said.
Mejdina told cops he picked Campbell up at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Columbus Circle and was driving her to the Kaufman Astoria Studios in Queens when she snapped about 3 p.m. as they approached the Queensboro Bridge. The driver claimed Campbell was brooding about an incident involving her boyfriend, married Russian billionaire Vladimir Doronin, sources said.
Mejdina had been hired a year ago to chauffeur Doronin, 49, around the city. Campbell apparently called Doronin at the time, but he did not answer his cell phone. She then rang Mejdina, who also didn’t answer.
Still peeved about the year-old incident, Campbell accused Mejdina yesterday of covering for Doronin and then slapped him, sources said.
The driver pulled over at 58thSt. and Second Ave., where he flagged down a traffic agent to report the assault. Campbell jumped out and ran away.
