How To Make a Halloween Spider Cake

Halloween is all about fun! So why not try and create some fun Halloween recipe that'll surprise your guests? Since Halloween means creepy and scary costumes and masks and midnight parties, try this Spider Cake which will attract everyone's attention. The best part is, this spider cake oozes green slime when you cut the cake!

SPIDER CAKE

Ingredients: For the cake batter you need: 18 ¼ oz box of white cake mix, 4 packets of green gelatin, for the black frosting you need: blue food coloring and chocolate frosting, and for the decorations you need: 4 black licorice whips, 2 big green gumballs, 6 little gumballs.

Directions: Take two 9-inch round cake pans and prepare two separate cakes with the cake mix. Cool the cakes, once you remove them from oven. Now prepare the gelatin according to the package directions. It is better if it is little softer. On a foil-covered cookie sheet, place one layer of cake for the spider's body. Now cut a smaller circle out of the center of the cake. Place this smaller portion of the cake as the spider's head. Fill the hole in the center of the cake with the green gelatin. Now place the other layer of cake on the top of the body. For the frosting, take a mixing bowl and add blue food coloring with the chocolate frosting, until it turns black in color. Frost the entire cake black. Cut the black licorice whips in half and insert as eight legs of the spider. Insert the gumballs as eyes. When you cut the cake, watch everyone squeal with delight!

Jack O' Lanterns are carved pumpkins, made by cutting off the top of the pumpkin and then the flesh scooped out. In the ancient times it was tulips and other squash that was carved out. Halloween vs. Day of the Dead

While Halloween is strictly a major celebration in North America, Los Dias De Los Muertos, or The Days of the Dead is popular in many parts of the world. The Day of the Dead is celebrated typically on November 1 (All Saints' Day) and November 2 (All Souls' Day). The Day of the Dead is also celebrated in a lesser extent in Latin American countries. For example, it is a public holiday in Brazil, when people visit churches and cemeteries. This holiday is also observed in the Philippines. In the United States, The Day of the Dead is also observed as a holiday among Mexican-American communities. So, while majority of America observes Halloween on October 31st night, the Hispanic population considers The Day of the Dead as a special event honoring the dead. In Mexico it is a traditional holiday. Los Dias de los Muertos is not a sad time, but instead a time of remembering and rejoicing.

Halloween and Day of the Dead in much similar because people dress up as ghouls, ghosts, mummies and skeletons, and parade through the town carrying an open coffin. Vendors toss oranges inside the coffin, as an offering to the “corpse”. Families prepare an altar decorated with flowers, bread, fruits and candy. Pictures of deceased family members are kept on that altar. In late afternoon, candles are lit, as to remember the departed souls. Just as in the United States, there are Halloween special recipes and treats, Day of the Dead is also celebrated with unique and weird recipes like chocolate skulls, marzipan coffins, white chocolate skeletons, milk chocolate bones. Much similar to Halloween gifts are Day of the Dead gifts and decorations. There are skeleton figurines, skeletal brides, evil dolls, spirit and ghost figures, are quite popular gift and home décor items. November 1st and 2nd can be a wonderful time to visit Mexico, as you will get to see a celebration full of flowers and chocolates. People parade through the streets dressed as skeletons and ghosts and candles are meant to burn all night. Theirs is a culture which believes in a vibrant afterlife and remembers the departed ones with joy!

Halloween is the time to rock and roll and have fun with your dear ones. It is time to treat everyone close to you with gifts and yummy treats. Halloween gifts need not be like the ordinary ones. On my last post about the selected best scary movies suitable for kids, I provided a list of my favorite Halloween kids movies that are fit for children viewing. These movies, unlike their adult counterparts, do not have bloodshed, slashings and gore. Even after becoming an adult, I still love to watch these kids scary movies, which take me back to my childhood days.
So, here's some more chosen kids Halloween movies that you can enjoy with your little ones:

1.Halloweentown: Marnie, Dylan & Sophie, take the help of Merlin and his magic wand, to stop the evil, which is in Halloweentown.

2.Hocus Pocus: 3 witches are back on Halloween, who were sentenced to death 300 years ago and who turned a boy into a cat. Now it's in the cat's hands to save the day.

3.Corpse Bride: This is a 2005 Academy Award-nominated stop-motion-animation film based on a 19th century Russian-Jewish folktale version of an older Jewish story, set in Victorian England.

4.Gremlins: This American horror-comedy tells the story of a young man who receives a strange creature named Gizmo, which he keeps as a pet, but which spawns other creatures who transform into little destructive monsters. This movie has a sequel.

5.The Addams Family: This is a creation of American cartoonist Charles Addams.

6.Something Wicked This Way Comes: In a small American town, a diabolical circus and its demonic proprietor prey on the townsfolk.

7.Ghostbusters 1 & 2: Nominated for 2 Oscars, this film shows three unemployed parapsychology professors set up a unique ghost removal service, called Ghostbusters.

8.The Monster Squad: Dracula is alive and he plans to rule the world.

Best Scary Movies for Kids on Halloween(Part-1)

When it comes to scary movies, why should kids miss out on all the fun? So I thought of compiling a list of the best 20 scary movies for kids that they can watch this Halloween. Turn off the lights as you sit back and enjoy!

1. Casper: Watch Casper, the friendly ghost, which is based on cartoons and comic strips. Casper, the spirit of a deceased twelve year old, befriends the young daughter (played by Christina Ricci) of the ghost therapist (Bill Pullman). This film is especially a hit during Halloween and Christmas.

2. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: This is a Halloween special and a favorite among kids. The Peanuts gang celebrates Halloween, with Linus hoping that, finally, he will be visited by The Great Pumpkin; while Charlie Brown is invited to a Halloween party.

3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: Critics have voted this film as the best in the boy wizard series. Visit the magical world of Harry Potter this Halloween, though kids below 8 might find the film a little disturbing.

4. Clifford's Big Halloween: The film is full of chills and thrills. The film portrays the mishaps of Clifford, the big red dog who accidentally gets trapped in a white bed sheet and the whole town gets a big scare from the mysterious ghost dog of Birdwell island. A must watch for your kids!

5. Monsters, Inc.: This is an Academy Award winning film produced by Pixar Animation Studios. It was released by Walt Disney Pictures in the US in 2001. This hilarious movie narrates the adventures of a two-year-old girl named Boo, who stumbles into monster world and frightens them. The monsters themselves start getting scared as a result of their contact with the human world.

6. SpongeBob Squarepants: Halloween: Witness Nickelodeon's popular animated series SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS wacky underwater adventures. The good-natured, enthusiastic sea sponge and his pals, the Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Patrick the Starfish, and Sandy the Squirrel face weird and spooky adventures in the underwater town of Bikini Bottom. There are 5 action-packed episodes and eerie adventures.

7. Rugrats Halloween: This is a spooktcular favorite Halloween animated movie for kids. Angelica, one of the four Rugrats' cousins, blackmails them into believing that they will turn into whatever they are dressed up, if they don't give her all their Halloween candy.

8. The Nightmare Before Christmas: This is a stunning animated film and a hot favorite with kids. It has horror, fantasy, musical, and comedy all rolled into one. It has some memorable character creations and beautiful background score.

9. Beetlejuice: This 1988 movie is a worth watch for your kids. The film portrays a couple of ghosts who have died recently, who contract the services of a "bio-exorcist" in order to remove the obnoxious new owners of their house. Enjoy a side-splitting evening with your kids this Halloween with this movie.

10. The Witches: Adapted from the Ronald Dahl book, this movie shows a young boy stumbling onto a witches' convention and must stop them, even after he has been turned into a mouse. A must see for your kids!

Your baby will look absolutely cute and adorable in a pizza, ice cream, hot dog, banana, tree, and fairy costumes. For little children, butterfly, clown, flower, baby frog, harry potter, money tree, heavenly little fairy, will look great!
For adults, skeletons, mummies, robots, clowns, cowboys, ghosts, monsters, witches, vampires, Superman etc. will look fabulous.
You can include accessories and Halloween props like capes, candles, masks, eye wears, teeth, noses, and makeup to accentuate your Halloween funny costume.
If you do not wish to buy these funny Halloween costumes, you can definitely make your own homemade Halloween costume and be the center of attraction in a Halloween bash.
