Guilty Crown Booster Box Opening!!!

Guilty Crown came in at the same time as my Symphogear package, but decided to open it the day after instead of the same day. So here's what I've pulled out!

So as you can see, this time we have 6 booster boxes to open. 20 packs per box, so 120 packs in total, resulting in 960 cards in total. Wherein there'll be 114 R/RR and 6SP/RRR and maybe one them is signed? We'll see!

So these came in with box promos, going two box a piece, my friend and I pulled the Ayase and Shu promo respectively. Due to me being lazy, I've taken lazy pictures and just mostly on my side of the table. So no blame me! Blame my laziness! *Hem Hem*

So midway through, other dude pulled out a Silver Bag coupon. Oh happy days! 1 point exchange... for what? well, I need another to do a worthwhile exchange so nothing for now.

Ok I lied, it wasn't midway through. He pulled it out rather early from his pile of boosters!

So my 8th booster pack gives me our first SP card, which is Gai. Me is sad! Well somewhat. I still haven't checked the majority of their effects. That'll go into another posts once I'm done with building decks. But I was looking forward to Ayase/Tsugumi signed or foils!

Friend ended up pulling Hare!!! Yayyyy underrated card much? From what I'm hearing from some people anyways.

So we cracked the second box and we pulled out more Aya goodness and Gai/Triton... I don't know I like calling him Triton, sounds cooler.

For these boxes, we pulled out two foiled Inori and another silver bag. Yay 2 points = an exchange for something! Whatever that something is!!! Still no signs of a signed card =(

So last boxes gives us 2 Inori and Shu!

What do you know? RRR Inoreen and SP Ayase and another silver bag. What the hell is the partition of those things, this is the first time I've pulled out winning campaign cards.

So I decided to buy 6 booster boxes since I thought it was an ideal amount to buy to make decks that I wanted to do. It looks legit enough as I'm missing a few cards to complete play set. Although I wasn't able to get the Lvl 2/1cost Gai as a regular (got him as the SP if you remember)

Only card missing here for a complete play set would be the Lvl 3/2 Cost Shu.

Lvl 3 Ayase is missing one for my ideal number for how much I should have of each. I don't know, aside from basic must have 4-ofs in building decks, I rarely run play sets as I want to always have openings for something else. More of my thoughts on deck building on another post though, although don't take it seriously as I'm still a new player at this game. You guys can refer to "Mycstea-sensei's" articles. [Mycstea if you're reading this, I just had to! Too funny when you see people calling you sensei]

This one is pretty scare as I only obtained one of the Inori cards as a one-of. Oh well...

Those are it for the pulls. Too bad I haven't pulled out a signed card. Guess my luck streak ran out from those. Now I have to open and document my Eiyuu*Senki Trial Decks... But I'll wait for the booster box to come in first before doing that so going to have to wait on that for ChaOS content!!

Senki Zesshou Symphogear TD Opening!!!

My package came in today containing my Booster Boxes of Guilty Crown, which shall be opened tomorrow, and my two trial decks of Senki Zesshou Symphogear!!!

Gah!!! Symphogear was an okay anime, not something outstanding. I like it. One reason was because of the music fighting, but mostly just because Mizuki Nana. Nana-chan is awesome!!!

*cough* anyways, onward to the pictures! Forgive me for the poor lightning as I was really, and I can't stress it enough, really, lazy. Yup... you read that right...

Alright, so I ordered two trial decks as I was gambling on a the good old 1/6th chance of pulling a signed card. Hopefully Nana-chan's, not that I have anything against Yūki Aoi (she did voice Madoka after all) but I adore Nana-chan waaayyyy more!!

So typical items that come with the TD pack: the lame playmat, the rule book, and that thing with explanations on it. What do they call it again? And obviously the deck itself.

So going through the cards, I was sad that I didn't get the Hibiki signed card... However...

Awe-fucking-freaking-some!!!! And yes, I do admit I freaking jumped up and down and went ecstatic like the good fanboy that I am. Seriously... did not expect pulling this one right off the bat on the first TD pack opened!

So after calming down, I settled the cards aside and started on the second pack.

Unfortunately, I haven't pulled another Nana-chan signed card or Aoi-chan either. If I did, I think I would have seriously ran outside in the freaking rain.

So after opening the packs, I did a quick check of the cards and just threw this deck together. Not the best, but whatever. I could probably swap out Grade 0s for more Grade 1 counters, but whatever. I'll wait for the Booster Boxes which comes out in late June (I think?)

Yup, I'm a happy camper today despite the unbelievable rainy weather outside!

Dog Days Extra Pack Opening!!!

Weiss Schwarz products came in and I've decided to start "documenting" the stuff I open. This episode features Dog Days Extra Packs!

As you can see, this particular package contains 2 Dog Days Trial Deck Special Edition and 8 Dog Days Extra Pack Booster Boxes. Instead of opening it at home, lack of lightning, my friend and I decided to hit up one of our regular locals and open them there. This was also to get some people interested in it... which worked =D

Piled up under my Nanoha Force microfiber playmat and some other one. I honestly don't know what it's from. Anyways...

So the contents of the Trial Deck Box contains another booster box and, of course, the trial deck. Dog Days sleeves also included. Oh Doggy Days!! So in all technicality, we have 10 Extra Pack Booster Boxes!

First pile of booster packs we're about to open. 3 boxes on each side to begin with...

From my side, midway through I've pulled out my first documented signed card! Yay, pretty Milhi!!

Poor documentation I know but the place was pretty busy and I got lazy... Sue me... Next time though I promise to be more thorough!

Finally the spoils of the day was the acquisition of 2 Milhi signs. I honestly didn't expect that. It totally made my day though! Now only if I can get Mizuki Nana signs in my Symphogear trial deck I ordered!

Explanation of ( H a l o )²
First of all, the pronunciation should not be hāʹlō, but hăl-ŏ. This stems from when you put them side by side. Halo-Halo is pronounced as hăl-ŏ - hăl-ŏ and is a Filipino dessert. The transliteration of the word means mix-mix and as you can see from the picture above, it is a mixture of multitude of ingredients.

Typically shaved ice and milk with different assortments of boiled sweet beans, fruits and whatever else you fancy in a cold dessert! Ice cream also viable and adds flavor to the already awesome taste that is halo-halo.

What is ( H a l o )² about?
As the name implies, Halosquared is a mixture of things. Most specifically geared towards anything geeky. Just like our motto: From everything geeky to downright eerie! Halosquared provides the good old galleries for viewing pleasure, news, articles and events.

Situated in Montreal, we try our best to give a more solid view of what's in our area. We have learned a lot of things by trying this blog out. What I once thought as a lame and bland city, turned out to be more interesting than I thought. Never had I thought that such events happened around.

We try our best to cover any events that seemed interesting in Montreal, in hope to give more light of our city's hidden secrets.

After a long hiatus, we have restarted on the blog with a new layout and all that spaz! Halosquared now features: MTG Talk, Galleries, Review Corner, Toy Sanctuary, Photography Corner and the typical Rants and whatnot that comes out of a geek/otaku's head.

MTG Talk and the Photography Corner are brand new additions. After picking up the hobby of playing Magic the Gathering, I've decided to write articles, FNM reports and Deck Techs. Not to mention covering the MTG events we have here in Montreal. It seems that there are a lot of people that play, but don't know much about their local events here.

Photography Corner has been added recently for the fact that I've picked up Photography as a hobby. Any how to, tips, galleries or anything Photography related will be found here.

I've also begun playing Japanese TCG|OCG and will be posting about it here. Cardfight Vanguard, Weiss Schwarz, Victory Spark, ChaOS, Precious Memories, etc... Yes I know... way too many Bushiroad products!!

As some of you may have noticed there's been a small 250x250 section dedicated to rotating banner links to websites. I've also recently added a small 125x125 section on the side. I think I'll be rotating the ones that provide me a 125x125 banner every month. Not sure of optimal number yet, but I think I'll either leave it at 4 or 8.

The 250x250 section is of no problem as it will rotate every reload, but will only remain in the front page. I'm trying to get the sidebar version to change into a new one every x second but I'm stumped on that one.

First Glimpse of Angel Feathers

The next set is coming out soon and cards are being spoiled each day. A while ago we finally got a few Angel Feather spoils and here's what we have so far...

First card, ハッピーベルノキエル [Happy Bell Nociel] Level 0 Stand Trigger with standard 10k shield. So, we all know most level 0's usually serve as our 10k Guard when guarding against opponents attack, but Angel Feather gives us a different flavour concerning our Grade 0. Instead of the usual +3000 when moved to soul or the unflip a damage when moved to soul, we have the following:

Continuous 【R】: If you have an 《Angel Feather》 vanguard, this unit has the following ability, "Activate [R]: [Move this unit to Soul, choose an 《Angel Feather》 from your hand, send it to your Damage Zone] Choose a card from your Damage Zone and add it to your hand."

So as promised, we're getting to play with our damage zone. Pretty niffy especially when you have one of those moments where you want that particular card in your damage zone right away instead of the other one somewhere in your deck. Let's not forget that we can actually use Counterblast more often by sending freshing up our damage to unflipped damage.

恋の守護者ノキエル [Battle Cupid Nociel]: why the hell am I not surprised that this is a RRR? Feels like some madness OTT level of Rarity once again.

Auto: [Choose an 《Angel Feather》 from your hand, send it to your Damage Zone] When this unit is placed on the Guardian Circle, if you have an 《Angel Feather》 vanguard, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose a card from your Damage Zone, and add it to your hand.

Once again Nociel gives us a fresh up on our damage. Want that card to ride next turn and don't have a level 3 and it's in your damage zone? Want the Perfect Guard that was placed in there through damage? Want to send that flipped card (which you should always remember obviously) to your hand and put in a fresh unflipped one for another CB effect? Looks like Nociel gives you that choice once again. This time as an Auto Ability that triggers when placed in Guardian Circle.

For those not really getting it, here's case scenario, both of you are at five damage and you need to survive this last attack from a Rear Guard. You only have BCN in hand and a level 3. Your opponent's RG is at let's say 23k due to 8k boost and a 5k trigger. Your Vanguard is at 10k and you have to RG ready for interception.

Let's go at it, Battle Cupid Nociel is placed in Guardian Zone, you pay the cost sending the Grade 3 in your hand to damage zone and get back a Grade 0 that was there. Then place that Grade 0 in GC resulting into a 15k guard. Safe!! Situational really. But whatever. And for those saying that you die when you do this at 5 damage, Official rulings state that you can't lose midway through and effect, so once the effect ends, it checks if you have 6 damage which you do not.

愛天使ノキエル [Love Machine Gun Nociel]: Cards are so cute!! Anyways...

Auto: [Choose a 《Angel Feather》 from your hand, send it to your Damage Zone] When this unit is placed on a Rear Guard Circle, if you have an 《Angel Feather》 vanguard, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose a card from your Damage Zone, and add it to your hand.

So once again, this one does the same thing as the other Nociel, but with a different method. I find this one to be less good than the Grade 1 version as you can't do it during Guarding process. But still awesome mechanic nonetheless!

回転する剣キリエル Circular Saw Kiriel: Grade 3 at RRR people!! Flavour text made me chuckle a bit. Looks like you need a surgery! Shining Circular Saw... Really now? Anyways, so typical Grade 3 Stats of 10k power and no guard. As for abilities though:

Auto 【V】 [Limit Break (4)] {Activate when you have four or more damage}: When this card attacks a vanguard, this card gets Power +5000 until end of that battle.
Auto: [Counter Blast (1)] When this unit is placed on Vanguard Circle, you may pay the cost. If you do, choose one face up 《Angel Feather》 from your damage zone, and call it to Rear Guard Circle, put one card from the top of your deck into your damage zone, flipped.

So from spoilers from the other clans in this set, this Grade 3 has the typical Limit Break 4 ability: +5000 when it attacks a vanguard until end of turn.

What's interesting is the CB for 1. Not as awesome as the other clan's CB, but it's still interesting for a new mechanic. You get a RG from DZ, but place the top card of your library flipped in DZ. It being flipped is what peeves me a bit since I won't be able to do more CB effects that way, but it does net you a RG from your DZ. You can, obviously go Ride, CB(1), Call Love Machine Gun Nociel, activate ability sending a useless card in hand for a better card, or the top card that was sent, then do other shenanigans (whatever those are) with more unflipped damage to use in CB.

It being limited to when it is placed on Vanguard Circle makes it less of an awesome card though. You got to draw the line somewhere I guess... just kind of disappointed.

By the way, to those complaining about it being a clone card, quite your whining. Shessh... So with the whole switching cards from hand to damage zone, the whole draw mechanic is even more awesome when applying to CB ability, especially with this good old Maiden of Libra Angel Feather version. Nothing really much to say as it's a standard card that should obviously be put in the deck, unless something better comes out, say a Silent Tom Angel Feather version?!?!

機動病棟フェザーパレス [Mobile Hospital Feather Palace]: I have to admit, I skimmed the ability and went "Why the **** isn't this a RRR?" then took my time re-reading the ability and was like... "oh, that's why"

Auto【V】： At the beginning of your main phase, soul charge(1), this unit gets Power +2000 until the end of the turn.
Auto【V】：[SoulBlast(8),CounterBlast(5)] When this unit's attack hits a vanguard, you may pay the cost. If you do, for each 《Angel Feather》 rear-guard on your field, choose a card from your damage zone to heal.

So, we all know how Megablast is rarely pulled off in competitive matches. I don't think I've ever seen a megablast go off unless it was in the Anime. However, the mechanic in this clan makes the megablast a more viable option, especially one as broken as this.

However! Yes there is a but! The fact that this HAS to be in Vanguard Circle and HAS to hit a Vanguard, it will likely never go through. As opposed to the other previous clans that lets you spam a full field of them and spam smack the smaller RGs on your opponent's field, this one specifically tells you "Vanguard must hit Vanguard, if not then it's a no go!"

So even though the mechanic of sending flipped damage from DZ to hand and set up a fresh new unflipped card to damage enables us to foresee a megablast effect, this one is tightly restricted on its activation. When you remove a dampening, you must place a new one... right Bushiroad? Then again, it would be a most broken card indeed and should have been placed at RRR. Imagine if you were able to spam 3 of these and just smack the poor RGs to death just so you can heal your damage, I think that's pretty much game to you then no?

Obviously OP cards should not exist in Vanguard, so let's make it harder to do a megablast for AF. No really... just imagine how f-ed up it'll be if you were able to megablast this ability from a RG hitting a RG?

Last but not least クリティカルヒット・エンジェル [Critical Hit Angel]: our critical trigger that gives a +3k boost to an Angel Feather!

Activate 【R】:[Move this unit into soul] Choose an 《Angel Feather》, that unit gets Power +3000 until the end of the turn

The clan in itself is pretty interesting as the new mechanic (mostly to Vanguard Players) seems quite interesting. When they announced the whole clan doing stuff with the damage zone, I instantly thought about damage zone interaction from Weiss Schwarz and knew it'll be something like that.

So from looking at this, if the other player in my group isn't going to be playing them pretty Angels, I'm sure going to be picking this clan up. If not, I'll go for Narukami, which I don't really like. They're awesome, don't get me wrong, but it's not my play style and with our metagame being screwed over with Set 6 release as Set 3 in ENG, my OTT is *kapooee* at the moment.

What do you think? Think you're up to picking up Angel Feathers? Probably another expensive deck to make rivalling maybe the OTT price at it's beginning with Set 1 and 2? Seriously, I'd love to see an Angel Feather version of Silent Tom. Now that people can complain about being cloned!!!

There is Light in the Darkness!!!

Left the scene a bit, but I'm back and going to honestly start working on this. Seriously... Anyways, good confirmed news out there for you ~Trouble~ fans!

For the fans of To-Love-Ru -Trouble-, the awesomeness that is To-Love-Ru Darkness has been confirmed to be released as an OAD [Original Anime DVD] and a TV series! Joy!

You can obtain the OAD which will be released on August 17th for 3610 yen. By the way, it's a limited release with the 5th volume of the manga. Source mentions that the DVD will contain three shorts, or mini-episodes, totalling about 24 minutes.

The TV series does not have a release date but it's planned to be out after the release of the OAD. It's set to having XEBEC with Motto To-Love-Ru Atsushi Ootsuki directing and Yuuichi Oka on character design.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica got me hooked after the first episode. Seriously. Now I get news that a movie is coming out?! Awesomesauce!

Yes, Puella Magi Madoka Magica is going to have, not one, but three movies! Well, that's if you consider compilations a movie. Atsuhiro Iwakami revealed that the first two are only going to be recaps of the series. However, the last one is going to be an 'all-new' story.

It’s time to crown a Cosplay King of the Web! Cosplayers of the world, don your spiky hair, pick up your giant swords, and grab the eyeliner; it is time to show the best kingdom on the web what you are made of! King of the Web (http://kingofweb.com), the place of the $4,500 internet awesome award, is joining the world of costume roleplaying and crowning the Cosplay King for the month of July!

Unlike other kingdoms, in this realm players provide the votes to choose who will be the next king. So the fate of the ruler is in the hands of the players, as in YOU. Anyone can compete or vote!

Winner of the most votes in the Cosplay category earns the immortal title of Cosplay King and $450 to Rightstuf.com and the next two runners up earn $100 and then $50 there too. Winner of the overall competition gets $4,500 cash.

So start your sewing machine and heat up that glue gun, it’s time to be rewarded for your awesome!
