The Debut Album “DEMONSTROUS” will be out in Europe on February 26th and Japan February 17th 2010, North America T.B.A.

DEMONICA is blistering Old School Thrash Metal the new way. It’s Brutal. It’s Fast. It’s Crushing! Relentless from top to bottom - Euro Class meets The Bay Area Thrash.

Featuring some of the world’s most intriguing metal musicians, their first Album “Demonstrous” includes 10 songs just waiting to be unleashed and played LOUD. “We think all Metal fans will dig it”. Formed by Hank Shermann and Klaus Hyr and joined by Craig Locicero, Mark Hernandez and Marc Grabowski, the album was recorded around the world and mixed by Dave Otero. “It was a journey to make this album from start to finish” Originating from the Bay Area, the Rocky Mountains and Copenhagen, Denmark it’s a Worldwide Metal Union! It’s Thrash Metal! It’s Serious!

HAIL CONCERT COPENHAGEN. I was invited by David Ellefson to join HAIL on stage for the September 7th show in Copenhagen. I arrived for the sound check around 7PM, jammed the 3 songs; GRINDER (Judas Priest), WALK (Pantera) and SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION (Megadeth). Showtime was due and the band, featuring some of the finest forces within the Metal Mother Ship; David Ellefson, Tim Ripper Owens, Andreas Kisser and Roy Mayorga went on stage to perform a bunch of classic songs that we all like (set list below). I joined in after 6 songs and had a great time performing with these legends. Crowd was good and we all rocked to the max. Great event and a great night for all of us. Dave Otero completes Mix of first Demonica Album

Dave Otero has completed the mix of Demonica’s 1st Album at his Flatline Audio in Denver, Colorado. Otero (Martriden,Cobalt,Cephalic Carnage) has been working very hard to get the most brutal mix with his famous signature sound.

“We are totally stoked how this turned out, and can’t wait to get it out there. These 10 songs are the most thrashy and brutal songs I have ever played” says Hank.

DEMONICA is Thrash Metal from USA and DK, featuring the riff-masters from FORBIDDEN and MERCYFUL FATE.
We chose Dave for his extra edge and experience working with some of the most grinding bands around, we wanted a different approach to the mix than the standard these days, he really nailed it.

Mercyful Fate to release new versions of “Evil” and “Curse Of The Pharaohs” on iTunes & AmazonMp3!
As many of you already know, Mercyful Fate’s Evil is featured as a playable track on Guitar Hero: Metallica. Mercyful Fate re-recorded these two tracks specifically for the game because the original masters no longer exist. Now, the band is making both available to fans to purchase on iTunes! These versions were recorded at Earplug Studio in Copenhagen and Nomad Recording Studio in Dallas, Texas. They were both mastered by Andy LaRocque at his Sonic Train Studio in Sweden.

King Diamond comments: “It was a lot of fun to get a chance to re-record “Evil” and “Curse of the Pharaohs” from our 1983 “Melissa” album. It was cool to go into the studio and try to figure out all the various harmony vocals and see if I could still do them, and the whole thing turned out much better than we could have hoped for. Everyone nailed their performances. Everything is right where it should be and with a much better sound! The “feel” was there and all of the guys - Hank, Denner, Timi and Bjarne are all naturals. The versions that will be up on iTunes were mastered by Andy LaRocque and even with a 2009 sound, there’s no doubt that these songs were recorded by Mercyful Fate!”

If you have yet to check out Guitar Hero: Metallica - make sure you do! King Diamond himself is a playable character in the game once you unlock the Evil track! Plus, a video of King Diamond’s on-stage performance with Metallica at Ozzfest 2008 in Dallas is included as a bonus feature in the game.

DEMONICA : Studio Report 1

Bay Area Thrasher Mark Hernandez has completed all drum tracks for the upcoming DEMONICA Album. The session took place at the Sonic Room Studio in Livermore, California. Engineered and recorded by Tim Narducci and Brad Barth, supervised by Craig Locicero.

Hernandez hammered his Sonor drums on all 10 songs in just 3 days, leaving everyone mesmerized. Mark really nailed the songs with an incredible aggression and fast paced beats that impressed even the cleaning lady :-). We can’t wait to take this into the final stage, when all parts have been completed. Next on : Guitars……….To be continued.

As it might have come to your attention by now, Mercyful Fate will be a part of Guitar Hero:Metallica with the song “EVIL”.We are looking forward to get our hands on the game to test if we can even play our own song. In addition Metallica is playing 5 songs taken from the MF ‘82 Album and ‘83 “Melissa” Album (Evil,Corpse without a Soul,Curse of the Pharaohs,Into the Coven and Satans Fall), in a medley called “MERCYFUL FATE”, must be the test of the game :-). Jammin’ with WOLF

I was invited to perform a guitar solo on the new WOLF “Ravenous” album. I took the challenge since I dig their songs and vibe, 100 % Metal here. Used my Flying V with an EMG 81 going into an ENGL amp. The Album will be released by late February in Europe, and late March in USA. Check it out… HS

“Ravenous” also features a smashing guitar solo by Hank Shermann (Force of Evil, Mercyful Fate) and guest vocals by Marc Boals (ex-Malmsteen). For the fierce and bloody artwork, the band once again decided to work with their long time cover artist Thomas Holm (Mercyful Fate), the band states:

“He has the ability to “paint our music” and that’s something we’re not gonna pass up on”.

Topped off by the phenomenal production by Roy Z (Bruce Dickinson, Judas Priest, Halford and many more) “Ravenous” promises a heavy metal delicacy par excellence!

Mercyful Fate Rumors!!

About the rumor that’s floating around : “Mercyful Fate has started writing new material”!
The present status of Mercyful Fate remains unchanged, meaning that we have not started writing new material.
For that to happen, Mercyful Fate’s recording contracts have to be renegotiated first.
The band are ready to go if that scenario presents itself, and who knows, that might happen this year.
But confirmed for Q1 and Q2 is a double DVD of old private King Diamond video recordings and a double DVD of old private Mercyful Fate video recordings which are in final production at this moment.
