Gamla Stan

Gamla Stan (in English: Old Town) is the oldest part of Stockholm which dates back to the 1300s. This street is the main shopping street, Västerlånggatan (in English: The Western Long Street) and even though there are loads of souvenir shops and cafés, the old style and sphere is still present. Even the sign on 7-Eleven shops are made out of wood! Walking in such an area is like going back in time, and I wonder how it was to live here in the old days.

For my trip to Stockholm I decided just to bring a single lens mostly because I prefer to change lenses in my flat and to keep luggage at a minimum. I knew that I would be shooting large objects so I brought my 28mm prime lens which is really good in low lights, and the range is quite good. Over and over again I'm impressed by the performance of a not that costly and 30 year old (or more) lens.

The Vasa Ship was built in 1626-1628 and is of on the biggest ships of the time. Due to lack of stability, Vasa with a total length of 69 meters and with a height of 52 meters sank on its maiden voyage after 2 kms of sailing in canals of Stockholm..... The warship was hidden in the water until 1961 where Vasa was salvaged.
My first thought when I saw this ship was: When will I see Jack Sparrow?
