Nice Card

This card is very efficiant.. i can run WoW and MW2 on my 24" monitor with visual settings on ultra and virtually experience no lag what so ever!! I was a little hesitant with the buy at first because zotac is a newer company, but i took a risk and it payed off!! im now running dual 24" monitors like a breeze and i cant wait to try out the HDMI on my flat screen and watch a movie.. all in all a very good product and im very happy with the buy. Thank you.

Easy to Install and Low Power requirement

I have a HP computer (2008) with a 300W power supply. This card was a replacement for one that went bad. The original was a 768M so it was a step up. The specs stated that it was good for the power supply in my computer but I was still a little leary. I have a windows 7 machine and after I installed the card it quickly recognized the card and installed the drivers and even got the latest drivers. The card lives up to its reputation and it also runs very very quiet. I have had no problems with the card in the last two weeks since I have had it in the machine and the power requirements are good if your looking for a good 1G card with a smaller power supply.

Strong Enough for Certain Goals. SPDIF is annoying.

I see alot of reviews like this card is awesome! or this card sucks! instead of doing that, I'll go over more important info. I am running a Core Duo 2.91 Dual Core proccessor, with 4 Gigs a ram. I run at 1280x720p resolution on a HDTV. I bought this card for my second pc in my bedroom, where it will be used for HD movie Rips and playing some games. Here is the cards performance over a bunch of games.

1. Bulletstorm runs great on high settings, with very little AA. (I don't use Anti-Analzying too much.)
2. Fallout New Vegas runs on high settings very well, ultra is abit laggy.
3. Wow runs at full settings and it looks beautful on the HDTV.
4. Just Cause 2 runs poor on my set up, haven't found a good common ground on this computer. (Runs perfectly on my Nvidia GT240 in my living room)
5. The Sims runs great, but it's the sims.
6. NBA2K11 runs at max settings, and I love it.
7. Almost full settings with Starcraft 2, still looks amazing.

As for use with a HDTV as a HTPC:

1. The HDMI slot is in a good location compared to my other graphics card, no problem with bending.
2. All containers run great (MKV,MP3,M2TC,ECT)
3. It handles all videos and Icefilms without issue.
4. Your motherboard better hace a SPDIF port, or no sound through HDMI (Annoying as heck, but I use computer speakers in the bed room.)

Overall:
PROS
1. Great price for what you are getting, plays alot of games extremely well and the 1GB of dedicated memory is a must.
2. If you need this to help turn your PC into a home theatre PC with your HDTV, I can not reccommend this enough.
3. Not the best card on the market, but for someone on a budget, you wont be dissapointed.

CONS
The SPDIF cord is annoying because this mobo doesn't have a jack for it (was a cheap walmart computer before I modded it, most custom buiilds will)
Some games just don't run good.
The fan is loud, but not too bad.

Summary: But it if you need entry power and your current set up just doesn't cut it. It's a good price for what you get. Good value card!

What a deal

Just replaced my 2 month old 15" macbook pro with the newest i7 model they released a few days ago. So my old 8GB wasn't compatible anymore. Only about 5 months ago that older style memory cost me not quite three times what this newer RAM cost.
Got it installed without any issues in the laptop, booted up fine, works fine.
Best price I found, can't believe how cheaply I got this new laptop up to 8GB.

Edit - worked great on my new 2011 Mac Mini as well, now has 8GB.

Works on a February 2011 MacBook Pro 15 inch

Plugged it in, put the back cover back on, fired it up holding down the D key to run the memory test. Memory test ran OK. Restarted.

"About This Mac" shows "Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3."

Note: After removing 10 screws, the back cover remains retained by two plastic clips near the center. Pry it up gently and it pops off.

Great drive, Ridiculous packaging!!!

This is my fifth Samsung 1tb drive. They are by far the best in this size and class. I am using them exclusively in my custom build computers. I highly recommend this drive to anyone needing a fast, quite, and reliable drive.

However, you will want to get it elsewhere. What the hell is going on with Amazon and the shipping department!!! After reading the emails about their packaging I thought that Amazon would correct this. HELL NO!!! I just received the drive today. I cannot believe how the drive was packed. It was in a box alone with no, I repeat, no packaging at all. The drive was in the OEM plastic clam-shell container with nothing around it. This thing was slip-sliding around in the box for the past few days!! I am afraid to install it. This is ridiculous! This is not what I would expect from Amazon. I was forewarned by all the feedback. Unfortunately I did not heed the warnings hoping that mighty Amazon would do better. Well it did not happen. This is insane!! Shame on you Amazon. I will return the drive at their cost and go to Newegg. They know how to ship drives and delicate electronics.

UPDATE: NOT AGAIN!!!! After calling customer support to express my dissatisfaction with the way they shipped the last hard drive (which I returned) they said they would send a new one but ensure that it was shipped correctly. NOT!!! The replacement was shipped the exact same way. What is the problem here?! This one is going back again. This time I will take a refund and pass on getting hard drives from Amazon.

Great Drive, Terrible Amazon Packaging!

Ok so I was hoping that some of the previous reviews of terrible packaging were untrue but they are true. I received this drive in a small thin box, inside there was NO packing material at all. None, Nada... Wow. The plastic casing that the drive comes in was open, and the drive was just flopping away inside the box all the way to my house. How can a huge company like Amazon not understand how bad this is? This is not a book, its a harddrive, this kind of movement destroys drives. I requested a replacement and we will see how that goes. Amazon is going downhill it would seem earlier this week I ordered another item and it never made it into the mail, they assigned a tracking number but the shipper never received it. Now this. I am quickly losing faith in Amazon. At least the customer service is good, but the shipping is the worst it has ever been.

Update: I just received a replacement harddrive and I received a drive in the same condition. Very frustrating. This one came in a bigger box, the clam shell with the drive placed in the box with 4 airbags on top. So there was padding on one side but not the other. UPS shipped my drive from Nevada to Kentucky then back to California, so the drive took quite a ride and the whole time with padding on just one side. I emailed Amazon and asked why the drive was not wrapped in bubble wrap. Is this so hard? Why are some drives being packaged correctly and others just dropped into a box and shipped? Since this is a replacement, and I told them exactly why I was returning this, it is totally unacceptable. They should have been notes placed on the replacement order to the shipping dept that they need to wrap the drive correctly, obviously there were no notes.

Packaging problems persist

I should have listened. As of 9/2/2010 Amazon has still failed to figure out how to package a delicate electronic device. If you order this here, you deserve the failed hard drive you will inevitably get. Mine lasted THREE DAYS before windows seven told me the disk was failing.

My Overclock Technique

I'm completely stable at 4.175GHz. Is it my final result? Probably not with my existing equipment, but I am extremely impressed with the result. My goal is still to get to 4.2GHz, but this is how I got here and the contributing factors.

Step 1: Use TurboEvo software (included with Asus Crosshair)to auto overclock the CPU & Ram automatically in Windows 7. This is a good observational tool to find out which factors should be changed (Ratio/Multiplier, Bus, Voltage) and there respective limits. I used this tool with settings Extreme Overclock and Flexible Voltage Settings and got a 3.9GHz Result.

Step 2: Restart and Mod in Bios. The trick to overclocking is deciding whether to focus on increasing the bus or multiplier when reaching for that higher clock. This is answered in Step 1. The ram speed is the determining factor in this answer. My ram speed was 1333, and with my 4 sticks of 4gb (16 total) sucking up far more voltage than a single stick, increasing the cpu's bus speed would mean a higher memory speed requirement that my ram couldn't handle without a voltage increase.
So I left the cpu's bus at the default 200 setting and increased the multiplier, hoping to get a final clock speed of 4.3 or 4.4. After reading others overclocking experiences I decided not to set the voltage beyond 1.49. I also set my CPU/NB voltage at a 1.25. After numerous crashes and restarts, I ended up with a super stable clock of 4.1GHz that survived all of the highest settings of Heaven Benchmarks, 3DMark06 and 3DMark Vantage, Crysis (Directx 10), Alien vs Predator Benchmark (Directx 11), and the dreaded Furmark test (with my 5870 that I overclocked to a stable 961 core/1290 memory).

Step 3: Run Turbo Evo again. This program will push your overclock even higher, more stably than you ever could using your new settings as a starting point. Starting at my 4.1, Turbo Evo overclocked three more times in Windows, finally crashing above 4.2. It saved my final stable settings upon restart, and my cpu was automatically set to 4.175GHz. Point is the motherboard and memory speed do make a difference, not just cooling. Though my Cosair H50 handles this overclock at 40 degrees idle/50 load with ease. If your memory is faster, than you may get a slightly better result. In a few days, I may decide to try to set the voltage at 1.5 or 1.51 and see if temps are still good and see if I can reach that 4.2 or 4.3 using Turbo Evo only. My manual overclock is done.

Update: Here are the necessary voltages for this processor. For each voltage, set it -.02 below the voltage that's given, as the voltage given is what it will be under a load.
3792MHz=1.35v (set voltage to 1.33) ; 4000MHz=1.42v (set to 1.39) ; 4100Mhz=1.44 (set to 1.41) ; 4200MHz=1.46 (set to 1.44).

*Cooling update* I upgraded from a H50 to H70, set it up with 2 included 2200 rpm fans @ 100% speed in push/pull exhaust configuration. Under a full load, my temps were 38 degrees idle/41 degrees during an hour long playtime of Metro 2033 at max settings/ 46 degrees max during an hour and 30 minute long movie encoding using Cyberlink's Power Director. Power Director is optimized to push all six cores in order to encode faster, and would easily crash the system if there's not enough voltage or crash if the program generates to much heat. None of the test went above 46 degrees at the 4GHz/1.39v settings. Remember that the highest temps that you would want the processor to reach on a 24 basis under a load is 55 degrees. It can go over by 1 or 2 degrees every now and then, but if you are reaching the breaking point of 62 degrees everytime the computer is under a load, then you have to lower the voltage and use a lower overclock.

Why haven't I run the normal stress test to push the system? Because I don't run prime95 or sisandra in my everyday computer usage. Power Director would effectively crash my previous overclocks when all of the other benchmarks had passed, so it became my new standard to strive for highest overclocks at lowest voltages/temps. I pass all of my hard work on to you.

Awesome bang for your buck!

I ordered this through Amazon with 2 day shipping and it showed up two days later. I use this CPU in conjunction with an ASUS CHIV MOBO, 4gb of DDR3, a BFG Nvidia 9800 GTX+ OC, 32 gb high speed ssd and a 500gb 6gbs pair of data drives raided toge

This processor is really nice. I moved from an Athlon X2 2200 to this chip and the new 890 chipset. This thing screams! I run Folding@home 24/7, this processor has no issues with running multiple apps and processes. I play bfbc2 while encoding music and movies without a stutter 100fps+. This thing is energy efficient and cool.

The Black edition with an unlocked multiplier is the way to go! Super easy to OC! Once you go Black (edition!)you won't go back! I have mine currently overclocked and stable @4ghz, running a vcore of 1.356 and a CPU-NB of 1.22 at 2600 mhz with an HT of 1800. Using an all in one ECO ALC water cooling system I am stable with a maximum 100% temp of 41 c. Once I get a larger power supply and better ram I intend to 24/7 OC this to 4.2-4.3 ghz.

Having built out a few hundred machines I can honestly say, I like this processor. It's cheap, fast, and has AMZING OC potential. I Highly recommend this product.

Amazing CPU!

Just bought one of these and have had the system running about a week. This CPU is something to get excited about, when you consider the price. Overclocked to 3.8 GHZ without breaking a sweat and without much difficulty I'm sure could push further. I have mine paired on an 890gx motherboard, 8gb ddr3 and a Corsair H50 Water Cooler - CPU doesnt break at sweat no matter what you throw at it. Running stress tests you can crank 4 cores up to 100 percent and still surf the web / listen to tunes / generally use your computer and you would never know its even performing a task. This thing is a tank for sure, couldn't be happier. Way to go AMD.

Competent all-in-one worth a look

The PIXMA MP495 is a fine printer with all-in-one features and WiFi capabilities. The driver and software installation, however, did not go so smoothly (Windows 7 x64). I can't imagine a layman going through the difficulty I went through getting WiFi working with this printer. But once it's configured, it works quite well.

Document Printing:
Funny enough, this is probably the least interesting part of the all-in-one. There's not much that can be said in this category. The MP495 is a very competent document printer with all the features you'd find in any inkjet printer. Paper loads from the back, so it's a bit more intuitive which side of the paper will be printed on, but it also means you need more space heightwise.

Photo Printing:
As a photo printer, the MP495 is both fast and high quality. I found that the supplied 'Photo Paper Plus Glossy II' sample paper outperformed some HP photo paper I had. And the MP495 outperformed another HP photosmart 385 printer I have in both speed and quality. So I am quite pleased with the performance here as I find this to be one of the major draws of this device. Canon claims about 86 photos from one Color ink cartridge. I have not owned the printer long enough to verify the accuracy of their claim.

Scanning:
I don't scan very often, but it's a very useful feature to have when you need it. In a scanner I look for speed, image quality and usable software. I'm quite pleased with the MP495's scanner capabilities. My test involved a sheet from a notepad that had a light gray watermark-like background. The scanner picked it up no problem. From initialization to scan completion took approx. 20 seconds, which I find adequate. There's a scan button on the printer, but pressing it doesn't do anything if the printer is hooked up via WiFi.

WiFi:
One of the main draws of this printer is its wifi capabilities. But since the printer has no controls on the device itself for configuring the connection to your likely secured WiFi access point, it must be configured through software installed on one of the computers on the network. Configuring the WiFi was a bit tricky. After repeated failed attempts, I figured out that the trick is to plug the USB cable (which they call a WiFi configuration cable) in at precicely the right point during setup -- during the detection phase. Plugging it in too soon seems to cause it to fail -- and I waited the first few times too. Regardless, this will no doubt be a hurdle for novices trying to configure this printer. I suggest having a competent computer person around while configuring the WiFi connection on this printer. With that being said, not having to have the printer close enough to my computer for the USB cable to reach is fantastic.

Software:
The software is not very impressive but adequate. There's a utility for managing your scans and OCR text conversion and all that good stuff. Canon boasts an automatic scanning feature that automatically detects the type of document being scanned. I tested it out and it seems to work well as far as being convenient. The software however lacks ability to open the file location in Explorer or even open the file using the default application. So that's quite annoying.
Included with the software is "MyPrinter" utility that allows you to connect to the printer and configure various options. It seems like nothing more than a shortcut to the printer properties utility included with windows. There's no options for configuring the WiFi connection in this utility. You must use the Setup program to do that -- something I find rather annoying since this is something you should easily be able to access without having to pop in the driver disc or dig up the setup utility.
If you decide to go with the Easy install instead of the custom install, the setup utility will dump some annoying shortcut toolbar application called Menu something or other. I removed it right quick.
There's also something Canon calls "Web Print Ex" which allows you to change the layout of web pages to print them out better. I didn't test this software out.

Cost:
At around $80, half the cost of this printer is in the ink. On Amazon, the ink for this printer seems to run around $17 for Black and $18 for Color. Canon reveals the following for ink life:

Note that I found this info on Canon's European site. The actual cartridge models are PG-210 and CL-211.

So even with those numbers, which are probably the upper bound, you're looking at around 19 cents per photo plus cost of paper. While the photo quality is excellent, I've ordered prints online for around 5 cents per photo. So the ink here is certainly expensive.

Software Needs Work

I bought this unit as my laser printer was just too much wrt toner costs. I also wanted a wireless printer to share between all my computers (PC and Mac/iphone).

It is low cost (really low cost), and the print quality (at this price point) is great.

The reason that I'm not happy with this product, like I should be is just how poorly thought out the software is. During install, you basically are going to be loading up with a number of bloatware features (trying to not install these resulted in weird artifacts/or the software you need just not installing).

Also there's a little bubble that sit's on your desktop - really annoying. After all, I wanted a printer and a printer really should just work in the background without the need to be seen by me every time i use my computer.

Finally, the settings. The settings are crazy. First - no matter what I try, I can't get the printer to print in the proper order. Out of the box with all the defaults, I found that when I print a document - it prints in reverse order. Unacceptable. Going through the settings - I can't find the setting to lock this down. So I have to remember each time that I print to 'reverse' print order.

Also, there's a 'silent' feature. I haven't a clue what this does. It does make the printer a bit more silent, but it's not default. If there's some software to make the printer work just as well, but with less noise - shouldn't this be default?

Again, the install was a mess. Installing across computers (PC or Mac) was not fun. The fact that the settings were/are not correct out of the box, not fun. The bloatware/and the weird bubble that shows up on my desktops - really NOT fun. If the unit printed at lightening speed or completely silent, perhaps then I could overlook the poorly designed software - but it doesn't. The printer is just average.

I'm giving the OK rating because the print quality is average, the cost overall is great, and the software is poor. So it's just so/so.

Affordable entry into a wireless home printer

Let me jump right into this. . .

1) Wi-Fi. Nuff said! Actually I was scared at first because the unit comes with an 2nd user guide simply to troubleshoot the wi-fi. BUT. . .all you have do to is follow the instructions when running the install disc, which say (if you read them) to plug the printer in via USB cable. You must do this step before you can setup the wi-fi.

2) USB cable provided. Finally a printer that doesn't make you buy this separately. Thank you Canon!

3) Photo printing was impressive. If you have actual photo paper vs. regular copy paper then you can get some very gorgeous pictures printed. It's amazing how the single multi-colored cartridge can perform to this level. Not the same quality as the 5 cartridge inkjets, but comparable to my 3yr old Canon MP520

4) Good and bad of the ink cartridge it uses a single multi-color cartridge for the blue-magenta-yellow. But since you have to replace the entire cartridge when one color goes out...not sure exactly if the cost in the end will be more or less than the multi-cartridge packs. I guess it depends on how efficient the printer will be over the long run in its use of the color cartridge vs. previous models.

Replacements:
Canon PG-210 XL Cartridge (Black) = about $17
Canon CL-211 XL Cartridge (Color) = about $22

5) Scanning = disappointed. Wi-fi can communicate in two directions, but they only set this up for sending to the printer. Thus you must plug the cable in to the computer to scan. If you want more control of your scans get a real scanning software packages that will recognize the printer, because the software the printer comes with is mediocre.

**update July 2011** - found you can scan wirelessly...but it was a chore for me to do and I didn't feel the instruction manual was clear on how to make this happen.

6) Speaking of software...when you look at the feature list above on this amazon product description page, most of the highlights are actually software based. Big deal. Other than needing the drivers for the printer, most of the tasks marketed can be done better and with more features from free download-able software. Also most of the software features seem to be a shortcut to the Control Panel > Printers & Devices section of Windows, not to mention no configuring of Wi-Fi anywhere other than upon initial setup. Guess you'll need to run the installer again to get to those features.

7) Copying is noisy, but pretty fast when doing a black & white copy. I did put a page of Consumer report in and selected the Color copy. The product images came out with good detail and the small ratings on the red bars were easy to read. Nice and clear copies!

8) Nice full black color aesthetics. My old printer (MP520) is mostly a flat grey silver, but this nice high glossy printer looks sleek.

OVERALL:
- Much of the "features" highlighted are so-so software driven enhancements.
- I love how it's wireless!
- I don't see why scanning couldn't be made wireless too, but with the right 3rd party software the quality and manipulation of the scan are good.
- Only time will tell if the move to a single color cartridge will be less or more expensive.
- I'm overall happy with the speed and quality.

Perfect

This ViewSonic 27" monitor is a wonderful addition to my digital darkroom. I had been running two monitors - one for the image and one for the Photoshop tools. Now with just the ViewSonic there is lots of space to work in and when enlarging an image to 100%, you can see every detail clearly. The colors are superb. The monitor installed without problem. Be sure to adjust the resolution to the full 1920 X 1080 native resolution of the monitor. I am using the DVI hookup. As the other reviewer mentioned, there are no unnecessary features and no speakers. All your investment is going into the incredible color and clarity of the display.

Viewsonic makes excellent monitors, and this one is no exception. The size is perhaps the best format I have ever used. The monitor is bright, clear, and has no dead pixels. I see no ghosting problem with the monitor even with 3ms. It does not have extra un-needed add ons such as USB hubs or speakers. Basically I am thrilled with the monitor, and highly recommend it.

Large 27" LCD that works like a charm

Here are the settings I use that work perfectly for this LCD:

1. Use the DVI cable rather than VGA (which simply won't work for such a big screen).
2. Color adjust -> sRBG rather than other settings to get sharper text (1st button -> color adjust -> 4th button -> 2nd button a few times -> sRGB -> 4th button -> 1st button a few times).
3. If the text are too small for you, use 1440x900 instead (for PC: Control Panel -> Display -> Settings -> 1440x900).

I tried VGA and it was too blurry to read the text. I also found the sRBG color adjustment gave me the sharpness I need for text. To get the best resolution use 1920x1080 if your driver supports it. But I am getting old with decayed vision, and 1440x900 is perfect for me.

With these settings, VA2770W is as sharp as all the smaller LCDs I used in the past, and provides extra space that makes reading text much easier!

A Mediocre Replacement Power Supply For Your Computer

I've purchased this CoolMax M-500 B power supply at Amazon.com and that this unit works okay on my computer most of the time, although the power rating is somewhat inflated. As compared to a high quality expensive unit, this one is more like a unit rated at 300 W to 350W. Also because it uses a much less sophisticated voltage regulation being group regulated, the cross regulation between different rails nowhere as good as a much more expensive unit. Being an inexpensive unit, it also does claimed have PFC but it doesn't actually have have any. The specification lists a power factor correction of 99% but the actual unit lacks any power factor correction and has a maximum efficiency of up to 70% at peak output. For one thing it does have is an extremely quiet 120mm fan. Overall, some of the faults I have to say about this power supply is the wires a little on the short side for anything but a micro ATX system. Speaking of the wires, even though it wasn't listed in the specification. It does have a single plug for the floppy drive on one of the wire string that has the four pin Molex. Also this unit claimed to have dual virtual rail for the 12 V, but it is actually a single rail. The metal used in the case is somewhat of a thinner gauge than the more expensive quality units. Fortunately being an inexpensive unit, practically all the wires are of 18gauge construction unlike some of the generic brands that may have thinner 20gauge wires.

I purchased this unit to use on my secondary computer that has the Asrock 775i65G motherboard because I do have a better power supply that doesn't work with this motherboard. That power supply is the Antec Truepower Trio 430 W triple rail power supply. I was taking a chance on the purchase of this power supply hoping it will work with this motherboard. Apparently, it works most of the time but sometimes the computer refused to boot. I've decided to fool around with the bios trying to overclock the computer, and it failed to post or boot even after I cleared the CMOS from that point on no matter how many time I tried. The computer works again as soon as I reinstall the old sparkie power supply. Correction, this problem was caused by the motherboard bios and not this power supply or any adequate power supply. It was resolved after the motherboard bios was updated to version 3.3.

Update October 10, 2009: Because of the boot problem, I had no choice but to reinstall the old 250 W sparkie power supply and keep this as my spare. As soon as I reinstall the old unit, the computer was able to boot. After taking the CoolMax out of the computer, I ran some tests on the power supply and it was okay. I decided that I don't care about the warranty on this unit and opened it to check to see what kind of quality I am getting. What I found was subpar construction inside with no name capacitors and fairly small heatsinks for a 500 W unit. My 250 W sparkle power supply has larger heatsinks and has a much more sophisticated in-line noise filter then this unit. I have seen worse units than this CoolMax when it comes to quality. Also, the soldering job underneath the circuit board this kind of sloppy. Because of this, my advice for anyone who wanted to buy a cheap power supply is perhaps go with Sparkle or FSP Group power supplies. I've took apart several sparkle model power supplies and notice fairly decent sized parts and much better construction than this CoolMax unit. (Note! All sparkle power supplies are manufactured by FSP Group).In most cases,sparkle power supplies are more honest with the power rating then the generic brands. The 350 W sparkle power supply that is also carried here at Amazon.com is actually is slightly more powerful than this CoolMax unit for about the same price.

Warning risk of electrical fire! Do not use the included line cord, but to discard it. If you need a line cord, it's probably best to buy one locally after inspecting it making sure it's 18gauge construction. The included line cord is of very poor quality and it doesn't have the UL certification. When I compared it with a standard line computer line cord, it was much lighter and thinner. The standard UL certified line cord has 18gauge wires minimum as compared to this one with only 26gauge. Prior to discarding this line cord, I've decided to cut it open and found the extremely thin wires inside. In the event of any malfunction or short-circuit, instead of the circuit breaker or fuses tripping or blowing the wires in this cord light up instead. This appears to be a problem with most generic power supply that also includes a line cord set.

A power supply is just a power supply?

First off, the description of the power supply was very misleading. I am not a tech by any means, but when it said it has 5 SATA connectors, I wasn't sure if it had the standard IDE connectors (the 4 pin periphials) as well. I bought it on faith that no power supply could just have SATA and the gambit paid off. It has plenty of SATA and 4 pins (five of each).

I would like to say that a power supply is just a power supply, but the one I was replacing was a Dynex 500 watt power supply. When I first got it at Best Buy I thought this was awesome, a 500 watt power supply! Two months later I had to replace it because it burnt out. A year later and that one burnt out too...this time with sparks flaring out of the back of my rig. Of course I couldn't find a power supply locally that was 500 watts, so I turned to trusty Amazon.

Right as soon as I opened it you could tell the quality difference. The old one I had could have been manufactured in the 1970's it looked so old with the way they had all the cables in there. The Coolmax had a better casing, and everything inside is neatly tucked. Not one loose cable. I've had it running for a month now, and will update if it needs any, but it's not looking like it.

Great price, working well, some short cords

I just installed this power supply into a machine to replace an old supply today. Everything seems to be in working order, and the supply is *very* quiet compared to my old one. Running at peak power loads the unit is functioning well.

Two things to note though: 1) There are no small 4-pin hook ups included, which are used to power extra cooling fans (among other low power draws). You can separately buy adapters, or if this is a replacement, you can cannibalize them from the old unit. 2) The PCI-E power cord for a graphics card was pretty short. On my Abit ATX motherboard with an NVidia 8800, the cord is stretched tight to reach the socket. Some case configurations may need an extension for the cord to reach all the way.

This is the best deal on the web. Fast & Stable, overclockable to 1600Mhz, and Corsair tech support is helpful and knowledgeable. Best ram purchase I've made in nearly 10 years. Hi, I got this ram for a Core i7 875K rig. Works perfectly @ 1333 9-9-9-24 speeds. Remember you have to enable XMP or else it will default to 1066 Mhz speeds. I can't wait to buy another 8GB!

Works on AMD Phenom II 965

There are lots of good reviews on this product, I just wanted to add that it works on my MSI 790GX-G65 and an AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition. I'm using it with 4GB of Corsair (same model but less capacity), for a total of 12 Gb. No problems - just install and let it rip! I am not overclocking anything, and the CPU cooling is stock.

Screams.

During my most recent build I upgraded from a Q6600 -- which was a good chip back in its day. This chip SCREAMS, however.

I have it overclocked to 4.5 Ghz on ASUS P8P67 PRO motherboard with 8 gigs of G Skill ripjaws ram using the Asus AI Suite. Windows Experience Index gives this a score of 7.8 in my system. Passmark Software CPU Benchmark (google them) ranks this processor the 7th best performing CPU, in the following order (it was Number 3 when I bought it):

Note that three of the CPU's that have better performance scores are NOT commercially available at the current time, and the remaining three processors are three to five times the price of this one. The closest desktop AMD processor is the AMD Phenom II X6 1100T, which has cpu mark scores only in the 6000 range. Passmark also has a price-to-performance chart that rates your best bang for the buck, though many of the highest scoring processors on that chart are simply much slower and much cheaper.

I am very happy with this: it overclocks extremely well and stays very cool. It runs all my programs with blazing speed, including BFBC2 with all settings on high. At 4.5 Ghz and full load, it doesn't go over 38 degrees Celsius.

Get it at this price while they're still available. Highly recommended.

Great CPU!

I've upgraded from my E8400 to this CPU. Even when not overclocked, 2600K outperforms my E8400 exactly 3 times in video processing and rendering. Considering what I've paid for E8400 several years ago, difference in speed is just excellent.

Great Processor - Fast, Overclockable, Cheap!

This processor is so much faster than my prior build, a Core i7-920, it's amazing. This puppy is almost as fast as the fastest $1,000 Gulf Town processor, for 1/3rd the price! It's performing flawlessly for me so far. I'm still playing with the overclocking, but some of my friends have gotten this chip up to 5.2 Ghz and beyond using just air cooling on the same motherboard I have, the Asus Maximus IV Extreme. I'm still playing around in the high 4s.

The design of the Sandy Bridge CPUs appear flawless. I'm just bummed that they wasted all those transistors on a useless (for many of us), mediocre video processor.

The "Cougar Point" P67/H67 Chipset problem is easily avoided. Just don't use the Intel SATA II ports on your Motherboard! No big deal if you have a good quality Motherboard with ample SATA III and non-Intel SATA II ports. How many people have more than 4 Optical and HDDs in their system anyway? The fellow who blamed the problem on the Sandy Bridge CPUs is entirely off base and unjustified...

Works real good!

I first tested my system with the crucial memory scanner tool. Then bought this pair of memory chips from Amazon as it was cheaper :). It works just fine. Just remember that you might have to stagger the memory chips in the slots to make it work.

E.g., If you have 4 memory slots and have 1 GB in the form of 2 512MB RAMs in adjacent slots, it won't work if you put these 2 1GB RAMs in the next 2 free slots. You have to remove one of the 512MB RAMs, put in a 1GB RAM in its slot and insert the 512MB RAM in the free slot next to it. You could put the remaining 1 GB RAM in the remaining slot.

great memory for great price
