Week 24-26 - Curiosities
Greetings from the Mesa
Over the past several days a series of storms have been rolling through during the afternoon hours. Lots of wind and blowing dust, but almost no rain. We need rain. It's beginning to feel like a dust bowl. We have air filters going in the house constantly. It somewhat helps.
I hit 1100 miles on the bike - 1200 will be the equivalent of me "biking" to New Orleans. It feels so good to feel strong(er) again. Our mint and garlic chives are exploding in the greenhouse so i'm anticipating mock-mojito and scone o'clock any day now. KP put a bunch of zinnias and other flowers in a new bed in the front patio (pictured above). A couple flower heads are near opening already. Excited to see a riot of color up there shortly. Meanwhile midge season has begun. I've already had two heinous bites on my head.

- Art for Our Sakes. Why should we go on making things? by Zadie Smith (New York Review - paywalled) I'm linking this because I keep making things despite the times... Paywalls suck.
- I Just Realized Why I Liked ‘Hacks’ So Much (NYT gift link) What this is really about is love and friendship.
- Every week I get together with my friend for art time on video chat. She mentioned this children's book which I've never read. It's a nice little story about a bull that just wants to sit with the flowers. I can relate.
4. I love the design of the cards from Tiny and Snail, a pair of sisters who kept creating through adversity.
- Astronomy Picture of the Day because sometimes all you need is a dreamy photo from space.
- Will This Be A Problem? a literary journal established in 2014, dedicated to publishing speculative fiction, science fiction, fantasy, and horror, as well as insightful essays and book reviews. We focus on amplifying voices from African writers and those across the African diaspora and showcasing the vast, barely explored realms of African fantastika.

Music: I've been busy trying to set up my music library on my studio raspberry pi machine, it's still a work in progress so haven't really been listening to music much this week.
