    <description>&lt;p&gt;A few weeks ago I blogged about using index cards for a pedagogical exercise known as "think-pair-share" that can transform any classroom, meeting, or other event since it not only guides attention but it creates a better, more controlled and focused situation for conversation, collaboration, and exchange, removing the awkwardness of "alpha sociality" that hinders the introverted.&amp;nbsp; Here's the url for that device--it's not just a trick but a conceptual realigning of participation in a group and contribution to the group, without needing any bandwidth, clickers, apps, or anything but ind&lt;/p&gt;

    <title>Are you 'game' to do science?</title>

    <description>&lt;p&gt;I had a long but playful day yesterday in the lab with my first year Uni students. We were exploring the mechanisms by which water, minerals and sugars move through plants - setting up experiments using dialysis tubing, cooked and raw potatoes, celery and various other objects, and looking at specimens using a microscope. Amid the noisy hubub and laughter of a biology lab class, all of us (yes even me) &amp;nbsp;were dipping in and out of our various digital communities, looking things up on the net, texting people, and playing games while waiting for our experiments to 'brew'.&lt;/p&gt;
