This week was time to evaluate one of the most up and coming positions in fantasy football: the Tight End (TE). Every year I target a top TE and it ends up paying off high dividends come fantasy playoffs. However the depth has grown considerably over the last five years making it also easier to snatch up an early to mid-season free agent waiver wire pick up that may end up catapulting your team into greatness. Either way the days of neglecting your TE position are long gone as some TE’s lead their perspective teams in fantasy points! The first name up on this list is an example of such…

My Ranking: Jimmy Graham

He is the equivalent to the Calvin Johnson of the TEs: MegaGraham. I drafted him in 3 out of my 4 leagues last year and he proved many of the people wrong who said he was not worth late first, early second round value. He finished second of all tight ends in Targets (Tgt), total yards, Yards / Game (Y/G) and Touchdowns (TDs). He also finished third in receptions of all TEs with 85. Jimmy is hands down the top fantasy TE heading into this year.

My Ranking: Aaron Hernandez

For the last few years Aaron Hernandez has been ranked in the second to third round in most fantasy drafts and I have continued to pass up on him feeling I can find better value elsewhere. However this year with Wes Welker leaving town and Gronkowski having injury reports on every piece of flesh on his body, Aaron stands a good chance to have a lot of balls thrown his way. However he too has to find a way to remain healthy as he only played 10 games last year. Nonetheless I believe Aaron should finally be worth that second round tag this year.

My Ranking: Jason Witten

Jason Witten is what I like to call an old reliable. He may not be the fanciest fantasy football TE, but guarantee you he will perform year in and year out. I have had him in past years and he never disappoints. This year is no different as he follows up on his 2012 campaign in which he led all TEs in receptions (110), targets (148) and yards (1039); he was the ONLY TE to have a 1, 000 yard year.

My Ranking: Vernon Davis

As a childhood Forty-Niner fan I can tell you Vernon Davis is prime for a breakout year. I know some people are amazed that I not only ranked him above Tony G, but also above the beloved Rob Gronkowski. Give me a second to explain my premise though… With no Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis will easily be Kaepernick’s number one target this upcoming year. Also I guarantee, pending an injury free season, an improvement upon his 70 reception, 785 yard and six TDs 2012 season. With this being said, he will also easily become a top four fantasy football TE. You don’t have to buy in, but I’M SOLD!!!

My Ranking: Rob Gronkowski

Similar to his partner Aaron Hernandez, every year Gronkowski is ranked very high in fantasy football drafts; reaching as high as mid first round in some leagues. It always amazes me because not only is he sharing a field with Aaron Hernandez, but he seems to find his way on the injury report way too much for my liking. I admit though, leading the NFL of all TEs in Touchdowns in only 11 games is bad ass… truly (11 TDs). Still with him facing elbow and back injuries while training camp is nearly around the corner, I’m not touching him in any of my drafts. He is the definition of high risk, high reward.

My Ranking: Tony Gonzalez

Tony Gonzalez is another guy who fits under my “old reliable” label. He found some type of resurgence in his career last year though as he was top three in receptions (93), targets (124), yards (930) and TDs (8). It came out of nowhere for me as I expected him to retire after last year. Obviously this is not the case and if he is lurking around the mid-rounds in your draft, snatch him up with confidence knowing he is Matt Ryan’s safety net.

My Ranking: Dennis Pita

Honestly I had high expectations for Pita heading into last year, even picking him up in a league. He had a good year with 61 receptions, 669 yards and seven touchdowns. He showed sparks of being able to carry the Ravens offense at times, but he is so inconsistent that I am not sure he is ready to catapult to the next level in the way I’m sure Vernon Davis is. Nonetheless like Vernon Davis, ex-teammate Anquan Boldin is now in San Francisco leaving that many more targets on the field for Pita in Baltimore. Let’s see what he does with it.

My Ranking: Kyle Rudolph

I read that Kyle Rudolph was the Pro Bowl MVP this past year… Excuse me as I yawn myself to sleep because that is about as relevant as the sky being blue in terms of fantasy. Not that he isn’t extremely talented in his own right but let’s be serious; I’m surprised he was even IN the Pro Bowl game. He did tie with Jimmy Graham for second of all TEs in Touchdowns with though. Also his Quarterback Christian Ponder is improving every year so it’s not insane to think Rudolph improves his production from 53 receptions to maybe 60 and from 493 yards to around 600… However until he does it though, I won’t be drafting him as my number one fantasy TE.

My Ranking: Greg Olsen

Greg has quickly become one of Cam Newton’s favorite targets after Steve Smith. He may not be an elite fantasy TE, but he is pretty much set in his role in the Panther offense. This means he should remain a top 10 TE fantasy option this year too with Cam most likely having a bounce back season.

My Ranking: Antonio Gates

The regression of Antonio Gates hurts me dearly to the heart. Last year I heard that his foot had finally healed; but to no avail his production is nowhere close to where it was when he was the top TE of the field for years straight in the past. With the potential of an Antonio Gates though, how far are you really ready to let him slip? Don’t be silly, he’s still 50 receptions, over 500 yards and around 8 TDs every year. Draft with caution, but with the understanding that he is still worth your draft pick.

Honorable Mention: Owen Daniels

Owen Daniels is another TE who used to be an elite fantasy option, but has allowed injuries to tear his ability down. As he and Andre Johnson age, they seem to feel the natural gravity of being over 30 years old. Jokes aside though, he produced last year locking in 16 games too (The most impressive of it all). 62 receptions, 104 targets, 716 yards and 6 TDs was his 2012 stat line and I see him having an equal amount of production this year. Thus he earns the honorable mention title as he may very easily again become a top 10 TE in fantasy football.

Over the course of the June my plan is to present you with fantasy football sleeper targets for 2013 along with solid value picks. Value picks are players that will outperform where they are drafted in your league. Players will be presented in no particular order, but be sure to add them on your watch list when drafting this year.

Lamar Miller (RB, MIA) - looking at Millers production from last year is not a very solid indicator of what he will do in 2013. What should give you a bit of confidence is that Miami no longer has Reggie Bush which indicates that confidence in Miller. There is only one game last year where he was given double digit touches and produced 73 total yards. You can be sure Miller will be a target in rounds four through seven in your draft. Miller will be the all out starter in Miami and he should prove to be a solid value pick in all fantasy football formats.

Vick Ballard (RB, IND) - Vick Ballard is currently ranked as a RB2 for 2013, most likely due to the lack of TD's last year. He was one of my favorite waiver wire selections in 2012 and I am looking for him to truly perform in 2013. He seems to be a quiet reliable RB heading into 2013 and for PPR leagues he will be seeing some receptions. I am not crazy to think Ballard goes over 1,000+ yards and a minimum of 5 TD's in 2013. Solid value pick.

Chris Ivory (RB, NYJ) - Chris Ivory was always playing third fiddle in New Orleans, but now finds himself as the lead dog in NY. Every time Ivory played in 2012 he showed true explosion and seemed to be an outstanding candidate for a lead role. He will have a chance to put up amazing numbers in 2013 and will probably see a lot of hype going into the draft. He can be trusted and should produce near 1,000 yards and near double digit TD's.

Andrew Luck (QB, IND) - Andrew Luck is given every opportunity to throw the ball and for good reason as he is able to put up huge numbers. If you miss out on the top three QB's this year then target Luck as your weekly starter. The only kicker is we need to see many more TD's in 2013 so there is a bit of risk in this selection.

Russell Wilson (QB, SEA) - Russell Wilson is going to garner a ton of hype going into 2013 and should produce around 3,500 yards and nearly 30 TD's. The reason Wilson is a value pick is that he could outproduce those numbers now with his solid WR core. He is a fine selection and does have a chance to be a top QB this year.

Danny Amendola (WR, NE) - meet Wes Welker's replacement. Amendola is going to be a PPR beast in 2013. He should produce 80+ receptions and over 1,000 yards. He will be drafted in later rounds and could go under the radar if not hyped in fantasy circles.

Last week, Maukuss Time prevailed its’ early top 10 Quarterback (QB) rankings. Following up this week, we have decided to compile an early top 10 Wide Receiver (WR) list. The NFL is increasingly more so becoming a pass oriented league. Additionally with all of my leagues being Points per Reception (PPR) leagues, the importance of having good fantasy WRs remain great. We dig into it below:

My Ranking: Calvin Johnson

This is a no-brainer. If you are looking for a WR in the early first round, Megatron will be your guy. He lead the league in receptions (122), targets (204), yards (1, 964), and yards per game (122.8).

My Ranking: A.J. Green

Sky is the limit when talking about the kid from Georgia. He placed top 10 in receptions (97), targets (164), yards (1, 350), yards per game (84.4) and TDs (11). I didn’t believe he had top 3 fantasy WR ability initially last year, but behind Calvin Johnson no one possesses more potential and opportunity.

My Ranking: Brandon Marshall

Brandon Marshall continues to re-invent himself with every new location he arrives at. He’s like my iPhone’s GPS system; no matter where you go, the thing just seems to work. He finished with over 1, 500 yards (1508) & 10 Touchdowns (11); third in the NFL in targets (192) and second in receptions (118) behind none other than Megatron. Pick Marshall with confidence…

My Ranking: Roddy White

You’re damn right! Every year, I reach on Roddy to the astonishment of the rest of whatever league I’m playing in. Everyone says it is fantasy blasphemy to draft Roddy over his partner Julio Jones. However EVERY YEAR, Roddy supersedes him in totals for fantasy points. Thus I’m sticking to my guns until the barrel goes unloaded… Roddy averages approximately 1, 300 yards and 8 TD’s in the past 6 years. 32 years old or not, I’m buying until they switch roles… which I admit may be this year.

My Ranking: Julio Jones

Prime to take over as Atlanta’s number one WR option, Julio is highly regarded in the fantasy football community. He finished with approximately 1, 200 yards and 10 TD’s last year, getting increasingly hot as the year wore on. As a Niner fan, the 200 yard, 2 TD playoff game stands out as a representative of this kid’s mass potential. Roddy’s getting old, Tony G is ALREADY old, same for Steve-Jax and thus it’s Jones time to shine.

My Ranking: Andre Johnson

I had Andre Johnson on a few of my fantasy teams last year and at times he reminded you of the old Johnson that lead the WR field in fantasy points. At other times though, you merely hoped that he stayed healthy and on the field as he continued to battle through injuries despite playing 16 games last year. He remains a high risk, high reward option with great injury risk.

My Ranking: Demaryius Thomas

The more I watched this kid play last year, the more I wanted to trade manager #TeamNoLacking for him. I’m sure he would have an essay to say about him as they have an official #Bromance formed, but I am not far away myself. Even when Tebow was the Bronco’s QB, this guy FOUND a way to score fantasy points. So with Peyton Manning, we are pretty assured his approximately 1, 400 yards and 10 TD’s are consistent year to year. However Wes Welker and Eric Decker do post threats for his targets so beware…

My Ranking: Dez Bryant

Many fantasy football analysts drool over Dez Bryant; I’m less enamored with his overall persona. However Dallas Cowboy security squad included or not, Dez is a star. Finishing with around 1, 400 yards and 12 TDs, he’s another guy who heated up as the year went on. Week 16 against New Orleans, he compiled 224 yards over 9 receptions with 2 TDs on the side. Yes, he is capable of this type of ridiculous stat line. However until it becomes more consistent, I would rather Demaryius Thomas who may I say has the insurance of a Peyton Manning arm.

My Ranking: Victor Cruz

With over 2, 500 yards the last two seasons and 19 TD’s, Victor Cruz has been become a staple of Eli Manning’s New York Giants offense. Last year I chose Hakeem Nicks over him and an injury plagued season later, I regretted it. This year be sure not to make the same mistake as me… Not only can Victor Cruz stay healthy, but his salsa moves are ON POINT!!!

My Ranking: Vincent Jackson

I drafted Vincent Jackson last year relatively late compared to the value he ended up providing for me. He and Mike Williams complement each other perfectly as Josh Freeman continues to go vastly underrated in most football circles. Not going to lie, towards the end of last year Jackson went without too many TDs which resulted in my benching him. However with an overall stat line of around 1, 400 yards and 8 TDs, I will draft him again if afforded the opportunity.

Honorable Mention: Reggie Wayne
106 receptions, 195 targets and 5 TDs... What more needs to be said about the old guy? He finds a way to not only stay fantasy relevant with rookie quarterback Andrew Luck, but he also improved upon his numbers from the Peyton Manning era. I felt some kind of way about leaving him off of this list so it was a must that he receive honorable mention. Not the best science project, but the bubbles still look pretty…

With ESPN conducting their yearly Fantasy Football (FFB) summit in order to complete their player rankings, it reminded my mind to start working its way back towards FFB. With that said, I’ve been thinking to myself about how deep this year’s FFB QB options are… If you get anyone between Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson, you are good with just one QB really. Below I, along with commentary from #TeamNoLacking, ranked the players 1-10 comparing my rankings to his. Check it out…

1. My Ranking: Aaron Rodgers, Him: Drew Brees

Obviously Aaron Rodgers is a stud… with the highest QB rating of 108 last year, I think it’s safe to say that Rodgers will be in full #BeastMode again this year.

2. My Ranking: Drew Brees, Him: Aaron Rodgers

TeamNoLacking: Last year he led the league in passing yards and yards per game… and honestly it was kind of a down year for Brees. I could see him returning this year and maybe even adding to last year’s total.

3. My Ranking: Tom Brady, Him: Tom Brady

Outside of Aaron Rodgers, no one has a lower rate of interceptions then Tom Brady (8). Another model of consistency if you ask us.

4. My Ranking: Peyton Manning, Him: Peyton Manning

The fact that Peyton was able to return from neck surgery last year and still lead the league in passing percentage (69%) is amazing; not to mention 2^nd in QB rating (106) and over 4, 600 yards.

5. My Ranking: Cam Newton, Him: Colin Kaepernick

TeamNoLacking: At the end of last year, Cam Newton was actually one of the better QBs. Only thing that worries me about Cam is I’m not sure if he is progressing at the rate we would expect him to.

6. My Ranking: Matt Ryan, Him: Matt Ryan

Honestly, we could have rated Matt Ryan higher here but don’t let the #6 ranking fool you. With the weapons he’s working with in Atlanta coupled with that 4, 700 yard arm… he’s a pretty sure bet. TeamNoLacking: AND Matt Ryan has Steven Jackson this year!!!

7. My Ranking: Andrew Luck, Him: Cam Newton

TeamNoLacking: Andrew is a QB who we KNOW will be continuously progressing throughout the year and beyond. With RG3 coming off surgery, Andrew Luck stands as the best sophomore QB.

8. My Ranking: Colin Kaepernick, Him: Andrew Luck

First off, I’m a Niners fan so let’s be honest. This is beyond a Bromance, Colin Kaepernick is the future Chuck Berry of football my friends. If you don’t believe me, just go watch highlights of last year’s playoffs…

9. My Ranking: Robert Griffin III, Him: Robert Griffin III

Originally, TeamNoLacking had RGIII ranked a little higher. Why so high and why the move down TNL? TeamNoLacking: RGIII could end up being a steal all the way back here at nine in light of all his athletic abilities and overall determination in general. However he may not even be ready for week 1 so I had to re-adjust my frame of thought.

10. My Ranking: Matthew Stafford, Him: Matthew Stafford

Speaking of Bromance, Stafford has been on my fantasy radar since he literally was drafted into the NFL. I drafted him year one in the Maukuss so that tells you how strongly I feel about his arm. When you throw in Reggie Bush and MegaTron it’s just obvious that Stafford is underrated. He was 2^nd in overall yards and yards per game to only Drew Brees.

Honorable Mention: Russell Wilson

Watch out for Russell Wilson, the kid is gifted. Anyone who posts a 100 QB rating in their first complete year at QB warrants attention. I had to find a way to get him on this list one way or another.

2013 Fantasy Football Rookie Rankings

The countdown to drafting has begun for fantasy football and some of us hardcore fantasy football owners have already had some of our drafts.

One key aspect to keep in mind is where the rookie class rankings among the other NFL players. Another aspect is to see how the rookie compare to each other.

Here are my top seven (not sure why seven, but it works) rookies.

1. Montee Ball (RB, DEN) - Montee Ball has a huge opportunity to shine in 2013. Willis McGahee did a fine job for Denver last year, but there is a changing of the guard in Denver at RB and Montee Ball is the beneficiary of new position.

2. Eddie Lacy (RB, GB) - Eddie Lacy has a major concern around his toe issue, and the fact that Johnathan Franklin is right behind him in the order. Eddie Lacy is on a powerhouse offense in Green Bay and he has the opportunity to take the lead role this year. Eddie Lacy is not this high on most lists but I have him ranked #2 due to his upside.

3. Giovanni Bernard (RB, CIN) - Giovanni Bernard brings a ton of dynasty value to the table. He will play behind Green-Ellis and he will not overtake Green-Ellis this year, but Bernard should take a third of the snaps overall in 2013 and two thirds of the snaps in 2014. It's hard to argue in a dynasty league draft that Bernard should not be #1 overall on the rookie list.

4. Tavon Austin (WR, StL) - Tavon Austin is the most talented WR from the 2013 draft and landed on a team that can use him immediately. Due to Austin's upside he is the best rookie WR available in the 2013 draft.

5. DeAndre Hopkins (WR, HOU) - DeAndre Hopkins will play opposite Andre Johnson; Matt Schaub will look Hopkins way frequently this year and it wouldn't surprise me to see 700+ yards and 3 TD's in his rookie outing.

6. Le'Veon Bell (RB, PIT) - seriously who else is going to run in PIT? Le'Veon Bell has every opportunity to make an instant impact in 2013. He will be a top 50 RB in 2013 with the potential to end up in the top 25 if he can stay healthy.

7. Cordarrelle Patterson (WR, MIN) - Patterson is built to be a WR and playing opposite Greg Jennings in 2013. The major issue with Patterson is Christian Ponder and there are many solid receiving targets in Minnesota. Patterson's long term potential is awesome and he would be a solid addition to any dynasty team.

The Art of the Trade Starts at Your Fantasy Football Draft (Guest Post)

The Art of the Trade… Starts at Your Fantasy Football Draft

If you wanna pull off that killer trade in October, you gotta lay the groundwork in August – at your fantasy football draft. It starts with a couple very simple “do’s” and “don’ts” for you on draft day.

The first is a basic “don’t.” And it starts with a question. How many times in the course of your draft does someone blurt out when the player they wanted gets drafted by someone else? I’ve never been in any draft (even an online draft) in which a few folks didn’t publicly display some emotion at “their guy” getting picked by an opponent. It’s humorous. It’s funny. And it’s darn near a rite of drafting in most fantasy leagues.

So now I’m telling you straight up – do NOT react if someone drafts a player you (desperately) wanted. Sip your beer. Bite your tongue. Make voodoo dolls of his players. Talk trash about his girlfriend at the end of the draft… but do NOT show any public reaction to the player he picked.

If that player becomes available later in the year, a savvy owner will shop him to you – at a premium price. Yes, there are ruthless fantasy football owners who want to manipulate their fellow league mates. And you should be among the ruthless, not the manipulated!

Yes – I’m suggesting you keep a poker face after someone drafts your sleeper in the eighth round, just three picks before you were up.

Think of it this way: In a game of Hold ‘Em, if you missed making your flush on the river, would you throw up your hands in frustration at the dealer? Probably not. You don’t want to give your opponent any information he can use against you.

In essence, that’s what you’re doing when you verbalize your frustration that someone else picked the player you highlighted on your cheatsheet. The information you get (and the information you don’t give away) is going to help you when trade winds come blowing.
So the first don’t is … “don’t react.”

The “do” is just as simple. DO pay attention to everyone else’s reactions at your draft. Quietly take notes when someone whines that you grabbed a player they wanted. If you ever want to dangle that player as trade bait, you’ll know who to go to first. It’s likely you can leverage his love of your player into a better trade for you.

In fact, if you take notes on everyone who griped about a player they “lost” in the draft, you might be able to use it later on. It might even help you in a three-way trade (more on that later in this series).

Or you might use your intelligence gathering to sway someone into closing a deal. For example, suppose you draft Colts TE Coby Fleener this summer. Now let’s also suppose someone in your draft reacted to another owner drafting QB Andrew Luck.

You might convince the angry “I-didn’t-get-Luck” owner down the road to take Fleener off your hands in a trade offer. In talking up Fleener, you could say, “He’s gonna be awesome – he’s got Andrew Luck throwing to him… I mean Luck’s a stud, right?” Yeah, the Andrew Luck that the pissed off owner was dying to get – yes, he thinks Luck is a stud. And he let you know exactly how much he values Fleener’s QB at the draft.

You’d be surprised how far a little psychological or emotional nudge can sway a fantasy owner. So sit back, be cool, and take notes at your draft. What you learn might come in handy when you’re negotiating that crucial fantasy football trade weeks after your draft.

2012 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 16

Are you still in your playoffs? Here is a list of the top waiver wire targets for week 16 that can be slotted in for injuries or under-performers.

5 Star Pick-ups

David Wilson (RB, NYG) - splitting carries with Lumpkin but if Bradshaw is out again next week then Wilson will be worth a spot start. Wilson also will be up to receive some catches as well. Wilson plays special teams as well if your league gives you special teams points.

Colin Kaepernick (QB, SF) - we have been talking about Kaepernick for a couple weeks now. His play is very similar to Cam Newton and he is dangerous in the air and on the ground. If your QB has been underperforming you can take a chance with Kaepernick.

Vick Ballard (RB, IND) - the pass happy Colts may have found a RB. Ballard is getting enough work at this point to potentially be a spot-starter. I would imagine he is not on your waiver wire, but if he is then go grab him.

4 Star Pick-ups

James Jones (WR, GB) - James Jones has more touchdown than Brandon Marshall. If you are in a TD league Jones is a very nice spot starter. He is a recommended pick-up for next week.

DeAngelo Williams (RB, CAR) - he has found his way on the list the past three weeks, so hoping you at least stashed him. If you are coming up against an RB injury then Williams is fairly serviceable if Stewart remains out.

TY Hilton (WR, IND) - finding a way to put up solid fantasy points every week. Hilton gives you tons of upside in Indy’s pass happy offense. Hilton is worth strong consideration in all formats.

Cecil Shorts (WR, JAX) - did someone drop him after his concussion a couple weeks back? If Shorts is available he is worth grabbing especially in PPR leagues.

3 Star Pick-ups

Dennis Pitta (TE, BAL) - again only for PPR leagues, but Pitta is nice in the fact that he does find the endzone. He has been targeted much more recently and finally giving a bit more consistency. At this point he should only be used as a spot starter.

Brandon Gibson (WR, StL) - Bradford stated that he really trusts Gibson, which is a good sign for a team that needs to throw the ball. Gibson is good for five catches a week with TD upside if you are looking for a spot starter.

Curtis Brinkley/Jackie Battle (RB, SD) - with Matthews now breaking his other collarbone Brinkley and Battle will take over. Both backs are not recommended for your playoffs unless you have not other choice. Battle is a safer play while Brinkley has a bit more upside.

2 Star Pick-ups

Josh Gordon/Greg Little (WR, CLE) - PPR league owners only apply here; Gordon and Little have been up and down, but they do give you some PPR upside. Cleveland plays from behind frequently so there is a good amount of opportunity for garbage time catches.

Kirk Cousins (QB, WAS) - Didn’t look too bad against the Browns, but not a recommended pick-up and play at this point unless you are in a 2 QB league then you could give him some consideration.

2012 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 15

We are now heading to the playoffs. You are either in week two of your playoffs or this is your first week of playoffs. We are in must win situations here and you need to draw on the best of the best waiver wire pickups.

5 Star Pickups

Kenny Britt (WR, TEN) - Locker is starting to look fully healthy again and making some connections. Britt is finally looking healthy as well and is worth a spot start next week if you need a WR. He had a huge weekend this Sunday and there are so many under-performing WR’s out there that Britt is worth the gamble.

4 Star Pickups

DeAngelo Williams (RB, CAR) - it’s the RB that no other site is talking about that is not sharing carries. As long as Stewart is out then Williams is a flex play for injury. He will continue to see 10-15 carries a week, but keep an eye on Stewart.

Justin Blackmon (WR, JAX) - unfortunately Cecil Shorts will probably be back next week, but if Shorts is out again this next week and you are in a PPR league you can have a sneaky play in Blackmon.

Joique Bell (RB, DET) - consistently putting up usable fantasy numbers; he has awesome upside in PPR leagues. If you are looking for a RB for next week due to injury or under-performance it is foreseeable that he will put up 50 yards on the ground catch four balls and has TD upside.

3 Star Pickups

Alex Green (RB, GB) - with the injuries to all other RB’s in GB Green is the go to back. The issue with Green is that he doesn’t get too many yards per carry or hardly ever see the end-zone. Buyer beware that Green is under-performing so his upside is truly capped.

Andrew Hawkins (WR, CIN) - Armon Binns was cut this week and Andrew Hawkins is finally healthy again. Hawkins is worth consideration in PPR leagues with TD upside. He will easily put up five catches next week with TD upside.

David Wilson (RB, NYG) - Wilson got some work done on Sunday and outplayed Bradshaw. He looks to be the future but he is hard to recommend as a spot starter at this point unless you are really hurting at RB. He also plays special teams if your league gives you that upside.

Montell Owens (RB, JAX) - tougher week this week against the Jets, but if you have no other RB option Owens should be available. Not my favorite fill-in RB, but sometimes you have to go with what is there.

1 Star Pickups

Louis Murphey (WR, CAR) - think I am the only one talking about this WR, but none the less, LaFell is out for a while and Murphy needs to step up. He will be a target to Cam Newton as he will consistently see single coverage in the Carolina offense. He saw enough targets this weekend to be worth keeping an eye on.

It’s about that time for playoffs when decisions will affect the outcome of your championship. There are always a couple injuries or spot starters needed for the champion to take it all home. Work the waiver wire hard and pay close attention to the news. Here are the top pick-ups for Week 14.

5 Star Pickups

Heath Miller (TE, PIT) - if someone was impatient and dropped Miller when Big Ben went out then now is the time to grab him. He had an unexpectedly great weekend, but when Big Ben gets back Heath Miller will pick up where he left off.

4 Star Pickups

DeAngelo Williams (RB, CAR) - with Stewart out with injuries it has let the door open for Williams. He is a grab for owners short at RB looking for a RB that is getting solid workload. As long as Stewartis out Williams is a pretty nice spot starter.

Brandon Myers (TE, OAK) - Brandon Myers has been on this list for the past 10 weeks and he is still on tons of waiver wires. If you have a hole at TE then Myers is an easy start and tends to put up consistent fantasy numbers.

Justin Blackmon (WR, JAX) - if Shorts misses next weeks game due to his concussion then Blackmon will pick up where Shorts leaves off.

TY Hilton (WR, IND) - tends to make his way on this list every week. He is the preferred target over Donnie Avery and is also getting special teams points.

Vick Ballard (RB, IND) - if Donald Brown misses next week’s game then Ballards value gets a bump. If he happens to be on your wire he is a nice stash while you wait on the news.

3 Star Pickups

Dallas Clark (TE, TB) - quietly benefitting from Freeman’s solid play. Clark is a player to call on in TD only leagues if you have an underperforming TE.

Marcedes Lewis (TE, JAX) - he has more upside if Shorts misses next weeks game due to his concussion. Lewis will pick up additional catches and will be a better start in PPR leagues.

Donnie Avery (WR, IND) - if you are in a PPR league the Colts throw a ton, Avery has TD upside and Avery is targeted frequently.

Chris Givens (WR, StL) - well Amendola sat out this weekend and Givens continued to catch ball after ball. If you are in a PPR league Chris Givens can not be overlooked especially if you have underperforming or injured WR.

2 Star Pickups

Mike Thomas/Titus Young (WR, DET) - if Broyles misses time then Young and Thomas are the next WR’s on deck. It’s hard to say who will step up in the WR2 role in Detroit as Young has been a pain in the neck for Detroit. Gamble pick is Young and safer pick is Thomas for WR2.

Montell Owens (RB, JAX) - almost impossible to recommend at this point, but if you are in need of a starting RB and there is nothing out there then you can dig super deep with Owens. Keep an eye on Rashad Jennings status.

Louise Murphy (WR, CAR) - with Brandon LaFell injury on Sunday it appears Murphy will have a chance to step up. Carolina receivers can be up and down and my expectation is Greg Olsen gets the biggest benefit from the injury.

5 Star Pickups

Knowshon Moreno (RB, DEN) - honestly shocking, but he is starting and putting up numbers. Must grab this week.

Chris Wells (RB, ARZ) - he has been on this list weekly and if happens to be on your waiver wire he is a must grab.

Denario Alexander (WR, SD) - if he is still on your wire he is a must grab and solid spot starter.

4 Star Pickups

Colin Kaepernick (QB, SF) - he is looking good and worth a pickup even as a backup QB.

Pierre Garcon (WR, WAS) - he was on the list last week due to him finally coming off his injury and he is already getting in the mix. He is a must grab.

Greg Jennings (WR, GB) - did someone in your league drop Jennings? He is coming back next week.

Ryan Broyles (WR, DET) - even when Titus Young returns it would surprise me to see Broyles ahead of him. He is a must add in PPR leagues.

TY Hilton (WR, IND) - keeps making this list (hopefully you have been taking note of that) as long as Avery is out. He is sneaky start if Avery is out again next week.

Justin Blackmon/Cecil Shorts (WR, JAX) - Chad Henne has these guys putting up fantasy numbers. They are both spot starters at this point.

Jake Locker (QB, TEN) - if you are in dire straights then Locker offers good upside as he gets more comfortable weekly.

Jaquizz Rodgers (RB, ATL) - starting to get more and more workload. He is up and down but worth a stash at this point.

3 Star Pickups

David Wilson (RB, NYG) - with Andre Brown breaking his leg this will give Wilson additional playtime. He is only a stash at this point.

Chris Givens (WR, StL) - had a great game this weekend but it is not clear that he is able to perform in this manner weekly. Only a stash at this point.

Julian Edelman (WR, NE) - if he is not injured too bad he is a sneaky start when needed. He is also handling punt returns for some extra yards. I have him stashed in a couple leagues and he can be a boom/bust pick for you if you are in need.

Rashad Jennings (RB, JAX) - if Parmele is out next week then Jennings is a stretch to start but none the less will get the entire workload.
Chad Henne (QB, JAX) - he is going to do well enough but don't go to crazy here. I need to see one more week of production.

We are finally through the bye weeks but that doesn't mean you are not dealing with injuries and players out. Keep a close on the waiver wire picks and keep working hard.

5 Star Pick-ups

Ronnie Hillman (RB, DEN) - if McGahee misses time then Hillman will carry the load. He is a must grab. He will be splitting time with Lance Ball but this is Hillman’s opportunity.

Danario Alexander (WR, SD) - putting up solid numbers and worth a WR spot start. He looked solid this last week and is a big target for Rivers going forward.

Brandon Myers (TE, OAK) - he has been on this list very week and every week he is putting up usable fantasy numbers. If your current TE is underperforming then Myers is the TE to turn to.

4 Star Pick-ups

Pierre Gacron (WR, WAS) - probably not on your waiver wire, but he is back. You will need to wait on him a little more before you can start him. We need to see him fully recovered in order to trust him in fantasy lineups.

Jalen Parmele (RB, JAX) - Rashad Jennings has been highly ineffective, so Parmele is getting the nod as the starter. He is going to be boom or bust weekly so bear this in mind if you start him.

James Starks (RB, GB) - Alex Green was just not getting it done, but Starks is now carrying the ball until Benson gets back, from a fantasy perspective Starks is now the RB to own.

Chris Wells (RB, ARZ) - getting back into his starting role; Howling had a nice game this week, but will serve as a back-up to Wells. If you want to play it safe wait a week after his return to ensure he will be getting the lion share.

Rashard Mendenhall (RB, PIT) - he most likely is not on your waiver wire, but should be at full speed next week. The backfield is crowded in Pitt, so be aware he may be more in a RBBC then getting the full load.

3 Star Pick-ups

Julian Edelman (WR, NE) - looks like Gronkowski will be missing some time and this will result in Edelman getting some more work if you are looking for a receiver in PPR formats.

TY Hilton (WR, IND) - if Avery misses the game next week then Hilton becomes a sneaky WR starter. Avery’s status will determine Hilton’s production level.

Cecil Shorts/Justin Blackmon (WR, JAX) - if Henne stays in at the QB then these WR’s can be called upon to fill holes.

Brandon Stokely (WR, DEN) - putting up a TD almost every week; if you are in a TD league he is worth consideration.

2 Star Pick-ups

Chad Henne (QB, JAX) - another Jacksonville player, but Henne is changing the pace for Jacksonville. Keep an eye on him, if he continues to be the starter.
